hey everyone today i decided to put together a little bit of a guide on how to collect currency i've been watching a lot of videos of people showing their collections and people assuming that certain things they find are worth a lot of money now let me start off by saying you can collect anything you like i am not telling you not to collect anything if there is something that you find that you think is cool yeah save it that's that's the whole point of collecting that's the whole point of the hobby but i don't want you to be misled into thinking certain things are worth money um there's a couple sites that are misleading people a great deal and let's see if i can't put to rest some of those ideas um one of the things i want to show you is a site called my currencycollection.com great site for looking up star notes great site for determining if you've got a rare note but one of the things they have on there is the cool or fancy serial checker and it's a coolness index let me just show you some stuff here let's start off with this if i'm going through my notes and i go through at least a thousand every week if i see this note i am not even stopping i am just away uh this is not a keeper by any stretch of the imagination if i look at this note it's got ones on the end okay well that isn't rare there's four different numbers on here so it's not even a trinary and i'll get to that in a little bit uh it doesn't repeat it it's not a radar there's nothing special about this note nothing whatsoever special about it it's just a number there's so many bills just like this not a special note however let's look this note up uh before i even look it up what would you find cool about this note anything i mean seriously think think about the note look at it and do you find anything cool about it if you don't find anything cool about it why would you save it so now let's check this out this is the fantasy fantasy the fancy serial number checker and if i put in that number find it right here trying to work around my camera one four two three four two three one there it is and when i hit check your serial number the fancy serial number checker is going to tell me that this note is 95 cool 95.4 and it's listed as very cool very cool on there that's that's the rating and when you try to figure out why it's listed at very cool it gives you some stuff it contains four pairs um yeah but you gotta really look to find those four pairs and it says point five three of eight digit numbers have this combination okay if one and a hundred notes have that combination that means five out of every thousand notes will have that combination so every week when i go through my thousand notes i'm gonna find five of those uh that's not rare um the next thing uh digits sum to 20. okay i have never sat there adding up what the digits sum to i have never bought a bill based on what the numbers sum up to that that just isn't cool to me at all that you know that's me if it's cool to you great but i'm simply saying that does not increase the value um contains a run of three uh that would be the uh two three four section in there once again not an impressive feat four point four percent so four out of every hundred uh that means when i go through a thousand notes i'd find 44 notes like that once again not rare does not increase the value and having four unique digits well once again uh trinarys aren't worth anything and those only have three digits so this having four digits it is nothing so once again here is a site trying to tell you that this note is 95.4 cool it is listed as very cool and it's not now the thing is is that of all of the numbers you can come up with this one comes out in the top 95 percent that is true but what is the top 95 percent for those of you who don't know 95 percent is one out of 20. yeah if you take a 20 bill and get 20 singles one of those is about to be in this cool range one out of 20. um so no that is definitely not cool now one of the things that drives me nuts though is when you start talking about notes that are cool for instance a birthday note a birthday note if i ever found a note that had my birthday on it i would pay money for that um that holds value it may not hold value to you but i'm sure that if you saw a note with your birthday on it you'd be willing to pay for that and if i'm willing to pay for my birthday and you're willing to pay for your birthday that means that basically any note that has a birthday on it should be worth money to the right person so let's do a little bit of a comparison there let's put in a date i'll clear this out i'm going to put in 0-7 for july 23 for the 23rd and we're going to go 1973. so that is july 23 1973 if you were born on that day um then that would be your note and we would definitely agree that that would be a fancy serial number that would be a very cool number to have uh even to find a birthday note in general is cool to have you can look at that number and see what it is you can see why that would be cool you can see why somebody would want that note but let's check the fancy serial number checker and if i click on here we find out that this note is 37.1 percent uncool rating it doesn't even list on there that it's a birthday note it doesn't list that it's an anniversary note it doesn't list anything special and the thing is i even type that in in the proper order if you want to find a birthday note you want to find it with the month the day and the year 7 23 73 like that um so yeah it shows absolutely nothing cool about this note in fact this may be one of the uncoolest percentages you can possibly get on this particular site yet all of us would agree that that serial number is cool so if you are saving a bunch of notes because this site says that they're cool and you don't know why when you look at the note then they're probably not worth a whole lot of money but that doesn't mean you shouldn't save them that just means you should have the expectation of it not being worth more than face value so what are things that you should be checking well like i said this one is really cool very cool on the list but it's not even a note i'd pull from circulation i actually had to look for one of these for this video so we're going to get rid of that one if you are collecting what should you look for well here's one of the things i look for very simple it's not worth any money but it's still neat it is a weird where's george bill when i'm going through my notes when i see the warriors george stamp i know that there's a website dedicated to tracking bills and following their locations so whenever you find a bill that says where's george you can go to that website log in the serial number see where that bill has been and if it's your bill you will get updates whenever people find that bill and you can follow where your bill went that is cool the serial number irrelevant yes it's just a stamp on there but how many bills do you get the track halfway across the country um here's another example of a birthday note or an anniversary note and this one is actually a two-way note it's from 19 it would be 1919 for the year and it would either be october 12th or december 10th now once again if i was to put this note in there it's not gonna tell me anything cool this would be an uncool note but not only is this a birthday note check out the one you've got one nine one nine one zero one two that's called an alternator that is actually something that's kind of rare to find i don't think it increases the value but if you're trying to put together notes that have the exact same serial numbers by saving notes like this this is one way you can reduce those 96 million combinations into combinations that are much more likely for you to turn out as matching serial numbers another example of an alternator this one here 17 27 37 47 once again i don't really necessarily think that this would have an increase in value but it's an ascending um alternator 17 27 37 47 that is an interesting note i'm sure on the coolest coolness list it's not going to rate on it as anything but you can actually look at this note and see why that would be neat what else do i have here here's one that note that i first looked up was called four pairs now if if you want to look at four pairs check out this note it's got two two three three nine nine six six it has four pairs and all four pairs are together this note would be rated just as cool as the first note that i showed except this one you don't have to use a computer to figure out what makes it cool you've got four pairs you've got all four four pairs together that alone is kind of neat i'm not saying it's worth any money i'm saying looking at this note i can tell what makes this note cool another note that i have this one's a poor example but it's the closest example that i have this would be considered um well maybe not but this is as close as i have to what's called a rotator um this one is six five five six nine five five nine now it's called the rotator because it starts off as six five five six if i take this note and flip it over it's still six five five six by flipping the note i still have six five five six nine five five nine so either way you read it the number is the same six five five six nine five five nine or six five five six nine five five nine that would be called a rotator now normally this is done with sixes nines and zeros and sometimes people will accept eights they don't usually accept the fives but like i said this is as close as i've ever found to a rotator which is what would make this a little bit more valuable they are very hard to come by but yet just looking at the note you can show somebody without using a calculator what makes this note cool another thing you can find this one is called bookends a lot of people don't necessarily save bookends it's called bookends because on either end of this particular serial number you've got a two-digit number that is the same so 16 000 16. the ends of this note the book ends are the same having the identical number in the middle is what makes this stand out and some people only prefer all zeros as the middle for this to even qualify as bookends once again a note that probably isn't going to get any more face value but once again a note that you can look at and determine what's cool you don't need a computer to tell you that's pretty neat also on the topic of bookends this one starts off with three sevens has an eight nine in the middle and ends with three sevens so uh it's a trinary because there are only three different digits and it's also bookends because of the 777 on either end um once again you don't need anything special to tell you that's cool it's just neat to see once again probably not worth very much over face if anything over face but if you're going to put away notes that are cool this is pretty cool and maybe someday maybe worth something but at least there is a cool aspect to it that you don't have to get out a book to explain now some of the other stuff you're gonna find um you're gonna find star notes star notes are replacement notes they've got this little star right here and what that means is when the notes were printed initially there may have been a problem on this certain page or they were all cut funny or something was there was there was a problem now the notes still have to be put out in order and if you were just to pull out the problem notes the notes would no longer be in order they should start off with 0 1 on the stack and it should end in 0 0 meaning 100 if you were to pull out one or two of those it would no longer end at 100 it would end at 102. so what they would do is they will insert star notes as replacements for the notes that got pulled out that's what makes star notes so rare now my currencycollection.com does a great job of telling you the print runs on star notes to let you know what are the rare notes when you do find them so yeah that's a great site for that and you're looking for star notes that are usually under 250 000 as far as a print run most star notes come from a run of 3.2 million so those aren't exactly collectible but um they're more collectible than virtually anything else you're gonna find so saving star notes isn't a bad thing at all just keep in mind condition if you've got a note that's out of the 3.2 million run if it isn't pristine it's not worth saving whenever you get the shorter print runs yeah those could be worth some money now when we're talking star notes one of the other things i want to point out is the i notes okay um for some reason they do not make i notes that is from minneapolis they do not make very many star notes at all that have an eye on them you can see this one's from 1969. i think 1995 had eye star notes there just are not a lot of these in production so if you're sorting through your notes and you find a star note and it's from the i series you probably found something that's worth a little bit of money another thing you're going to be looking for is you're going to be looking for old notes 1963 like this here 1963 this is the first year that this particular style of note ever existed now ideally you'd want to find 1963b because that would have uh joseph w barr's name on there and he was only the secretary of treasury for 30 days so those notes are only about 10 as common as the rest of the 1963's this one also happens to be a star so yeah these are worth a little bit of money speaking of older notes i've never found one of these in circulation but i have gone to the banks and the and banks have said hey somebody turn this in are you interested and this is just a silver certificate um prior to 1963 one dollar bills were all silver certificates so they were supposed to be redeemable for one silver dollar but we don't really use silver dollars anymore and we did away with the silver certificates starting in 1963 so finding one of these in circulation i've never done it but i have gotten them from banks that's something you definitely want to be on the lookout for another thing you want to look for this is an example of a web press note a web note web notes were from 1988 a 1993 and 1995. they were an experiment on a new printing process they wanted to see if they could print notes faster using a web fed press a web fed press is the same press that's used to make newspaper so imagine a whole spool of paper running through the machine and then printing notes at that speed now in order to find these notes you have to know how notes are printed let me back up to one other note here and we'll take a quick peek at something all right on this particular note you can see in this corner it has a g and it has this uh this number right here the g also the g here represents the uh quadrant of the sheet before they cut the bills so this was in the g quadrant and this was specifically uh the fourth bill in that in that section okay so that's what the g4 represents and on this side you have the g representing that section of the page before they cut the bills apart and you have what's called the plate number as the plates wear out they'll replace the plates and they change the number on each plate so they know how many plates they've gone through if you check on the back of the bill there will also be a plate number down here anytime they have to replace the back plate there's the number right there so those are the plate numbers now why that is important is on a web note there wasn't a sheet that these were cut from uh these were on a continuous roll of paper so when you look over here there is no letter designating the plate or the place and next to the plate number there is also no letter designating the place on the sheet because there wasn't all you have is this tiny little number there and if you check on the back same instance just this tiny little number and they moved it to the top rather than being on the bottom so those are the two locations that you can find the plate numbers to identify web notes web notes like i said 88 a 93 and 95. finding these in circulation these are collectible these are going to get you five to ten times face depending on condition and if you find a star note that could be some say upwards of a thousand depending on condition so yeah that could be worth quite a bit of money another thing you want to look for error notes here's a note where on the back they have the uh this was actually um a wet ink smear this was from the note having too much ink on it and then another note being placed on top that caused the ink to transfer so on the front of the note it's extremely light causing the rest of the ink to be on the back from the bill that was below it so yeah error notes there's i did a whole series on error notes so you can take a look at the different types of errors you can find these are definitely worth money all right next up i've got this is a binary now that serial number consists of only two different digits uh two digits that's where they get binary from because there's only two and it doesn't repeat it doesn't uh it's not a radar number i'll get to those later uh it's just two numbers in a random order that's what makes this one very collectible these are tough to find um you don't see a whole lot of them at all i should probably do a video showing the rarity of all the different notes but right now i'm just more focused on showing you the different types of notes once again you can look at this and see that there's something special about this note now that is a binary but this is a true binary it's actually called a binary because computers use something called the binary system in their coding which is just a series of ones and zeros so if you ever found a note of the series of ones and zeros like this one here that looks like binary code and thus the name binary binary code only had ones and zeros two separate digits so having ones and zeros makes this a true binary these are the notes that are most collectible when you find two digits like the previous note the sixes and sevens those are neat those are really cool to find but this type of binary is the one that started it all these are the ones that you're really looking for then you get into what are called uh blocks or five of a kind for instance now this one is a trinary because it's got fours sixes and sevens but it also has five sevens in a row generally speaking people really like it when these numbers are zeros whether they're five in a row in the front you know so zero zero zero zero zero you know that would make this an extremely low number which is why it would be desirable or having the five zeroes at the back so zero is the key number um any number if a person collects a specific number they would be interested in in notes like these and that's what makes these collectible that's five of a kind here's an example of six of a kind six in a row like that all six digits all zeros once again if this was starting with all zeros then you'd have an extremely low number if this eight and the zero were reversed you'd have number bill number eighty-three any note that is under a thousand um so that only has three digits here for instance that is considered an extremely low number those are highly collectible four digits not so much but three digits yes so zero zero zero zero zero eight three zero that would be a low number because it's somewhat it's total looking at it would be under a thousand it would be 830 and yes that is a note that you're pulling because that note could be worth a little bit of money so from six of a kind you then go to seven of a kind seven in a row like this um these are getting ex these are extremely scarce um when you when you figure a bill like this you've got all of one digit and then another digit as well now you can't have all zeros because that note doesn't exist you also can't have all nines because they didn't do that so now you're talking all ones through all eights and at seven of a kind that means each of those eight digits could also have uh the other ten to go with it see you're talking a total of uh eight that's 80 and then each of the different places eight spots uh you're talking only 640 of these notes out of 96 million printed yeah seven of a kind is tough to get seven of a kind is definitely a note that if you see is probably gonna be worth some money um i wouldn't be surprised if uh this was anywhere from ten dollars to a hundred dollars to be honest based on condition of course um but yeah you just do not see notes like this in circulation very often then the next i don't have one of these but the next one would be called a solid and that would be if all of the numbers are the same um so it would be eight ones for instance now a number like that there's only eight possibilities out of every 96 million notes printed uh eight out of 96 million that is less than one in a million um that's worth some money some people say those could be worth between you know a hundred and a thousand depending on the condition so yeah stuff like that that is definitely cool that is definitely collectible then we get into some other stuff this is what's known as a repeater uh the number is four nine six zero four nine six zero so the first four digits then repeat again into the last four digits four nine six zero four nine six zero they're the same repeaters are very tough to find as well notes like this you just don't run across very often it took me a long time to come across the first one of these and these are going to be worth some money you will find these on sale and you will find people more importantly buying these anybody can sell anything they want it's a matter of if anybody would actually buy them and repeaters are definitely collectible notes that's one example of a repeater then you get stuff like this this is also a repeater four eight seven seven four eight seven seven now this note you uh have it as a repeater of course but it's also a trinary four sevens and eights only three different types of digits and you've got well a pair of sevens followed by another pair of sevens so that's cool and as the very first note that i showed that was listed at 95 cool this actually has four pairs as well a pair of fours a pair of eights and then two pairs of sevens so by that alone this should be cool but uh yeah when you start compounding all those different factors in a bill that will definitely increase the value then you've got a note well similar to this one here uh repeater six zero zero zero six zero zero zero six thousand six thousand once again really cool repeater uh you don't have a whole lot of combinations now you're talking a binary now you're talking six of a kind on a bill you're talking a pair of sixes on a bill you've got all kinds of different reasons to like this bill you don't need a computer to tell you that this is cool you can look at a note like this and see that it's cool and the last one that i've got in here this one is what's known as a radar the number reads the same left to right as it does right to left one four two zero zero two four one same number front to back right right to left and left to right now these are also extremely scarce these are one of the more popular notes you're going to find their popularity of course being from their scarcity and once again looking at the note you don't need an explanation you can see that the numbers run left to right and right to left identically so that is certainly a collectible note so there you have it there's a whole list of different notes that are actually cool and actually collectible and actually may hold a little bit of value compared to like i said to start with this 95.4 cool note that just really isn't if you want to save it go for it but as far as getting any additional value on it i wouldn't expect any um if you find yourself with a whole batch of notes that the thing said cool don't think of that as a loss because you still have the money you can actually take all those notes that it says that's cool and actually aren't and use that to buy yourself a price guide or you buy yourself a book that shows you uh the rarity on notes and now all of a sudden you've got something you can use i hope this helps you guys collect currency i know there's not a whole lot of information out there on collecting currency so maybe with a little luck this will help you guys out and you'll know more what to save yes there's other things such as condition but you need a starting spot what is cool what is not cool what is stuff that you should be pulling guys thanks for watching i hope this helps your your collection grow i'll talk to you next week

How do you indicate where to sign on a PDF?

Contracts usually contain a signature line that points where you should sign them. In airSlate SignNow, add a Signature Field to a PDF exactly where you want to have it signed. After you send the document to partners and customers via email, they can open it and see a fillable box marked as a field for them that needs signing. That’s how a recipient knows where they need to add their eSignature.
