hello hello and this is notary life with kimmy so today we're going to talk about two things that come up pretty often during signings okay the first one is should i make a copy of the signers id the second one is who is responsible for providing witnesses for the signing okay so let's get right into it the first one as far as making a copy of the signers id occasionally the ev just about every time actually the signing companies will request a copy of the signer's id and you have several ways to get that accomplished you can ask the signer to make a copy of it you can ask um them to go to fedex ups and make a copy if they don't have a copy or at home or you can take a copy of it with your cell phone and upload it to the site and delete it or maybe the signer can also just upload it to their representative at the mortgage company okay so out of those three options what do you normally do i'll start by saying best practice is to have the signer make the copy themselves and present it to you at the signing okay however a lot of times if you have older signers or a lot of people just don't have home offices like we may being signing agents they may not have a copier where they can easily make a copy so what i do is i let the signer know hey since you don't have a copier i will upload it for you with my phone take a picture and delete it if that's okay with you and they're like oh sure normally they're like oh yeah because i don't feel like looking for a fedex or ups i don't have a copier so okay fine so why do i provide that is it taking extra liability on myself i have all of their information anyway so anytime i touch anything of theirs i'm already responsible correct so i'm going to treat their id just like i treat the whole package that has their social security number and everything else in there i'm going to protect it okay so the moment i uploaded to the file i delete i delete everything the reason i'm mentioning this though is because you want to sign in to go a stress list for the for the signer and for yourself if they're frantic already on edge when they get there oh i had to go make this copy oh i had to go do this they're already gonna be frustrated when you get there so whatever i can do as a signing agent to make that transaction or that sign you go smoother that's what i do okay so it's up to you what would you do if they don't have a copier machine you're gonna make them go to fedex or ups so just something to...
