hey guys how's it going just thought I'd quickly show you the difference between a digital delay and an analog delay maybe you're wondering what the difference is and you know which delay you prefer or whether you need both of them so I just I'm just going to take you quickly through these two pedals on the left is the D d7 boss D D seven that's completely digital delay digital circuit and on the right here we have the mxr carbon copy analog delay it's a completely analog circuit so you'll be able to hear the difference so let's start with the D d7 very clear repeats as you'll see let me just strike a chord and let it ring I put the mix and the repeats up fairly high just so you can hear clearly the repeats so you might not normally have it this high but this is just for demonstration purposes so here's the D D seven this one the boss digital just going to hit it so you can and stop so you can hear the repeats ok so just very clear repeats and then the analog delay okay much darker repeats and they kind of get darker as they go so if we put that into like some cords and stuff let me play some things and you can hear the difference back to the digital bas D D seven you okay let's try the same thing with the analog okay so you can hear that let's try again a different progression with the digital now the boss you you okay and back to the analog okay so you can hear clearly here the difference there they're obviously the digital is much clearer if you want that very clear repeats that's that's what you're going for go for that one if you want that more it's kind of a washy sound underneath it doesn't get in the way as much a bit more subtle and and darker sound than the analog delay let me just show you a couple of other things such as swells let me put on the reverb with the analog delay induces swells okay that's just with the analog delay and now with the digital okay now let me just show you one more thing actually a couple more things let's put on some overdrive now if you're doing a solo again you probably don't have the mix up this high actually let me take it down a little bit maybe about halfway there so you can hear the difference okay you have some overdrive on this is the digital okay you you analog and the digital and analog okay one more thing I want to show you is the DD seven has an analog mode so let's see what that sounds like let me just get them in time together okay that should be it okay so here's the analog mode on the DD seven just turn it up again and the actual analog delay to try that so that's the analog and then and finish with this one all right so there we go I'm sure you can hear the difference even between those two of course this is a real analog circuit so it does sound a lot more natural a little bit yeah it just has an interesting character to it this is a copy of an analog delay so there we go hope that helps out if you're thinking about different types of delay so enjoy see you next time
