I used to think that negotiation is all about winning for me trying to get every single penny out of my vendors out of my customers and recently I was able to graduate from Harvard Business School into about twelve classes about negotiation and what I learn about this is that negotiation is not about just me winning it is about winning on both sides because the relationships that we have with our vendors and our customers are the basic principle testimony of who Christ is in us in our lives and in our companies and so if we negotiate it poorly it represent Christ poorly and you can see negotiation throughout scripture as well one example is when Jesus asked one of the disciples to put down his nets and Jesus said lay down your nets come and I will make you fishers of men he asked disciple he gave them a compelling reason and tell them what they're going to be in the future and so in negotiation it's very similar to that in that when we negotiate we're trying to tell the customer or vendor our story why we're here what's the reason why we're negotiating and then we try to find reasons different reasons one two three four a win-win situation where the vendor and the customers could win and we could win at the end at the end of the third part of it is give them a vision of what that looked like and so what what I did was with all of our vendors and customers are we went back to them and renegotiated all of your contracts so that making sure that every contract is a win-win situation at the end of the day the ultimate goal is that they will know that we're Christ believer because we're not trying to take out every single penny in this negotiation deal but that we're really seeking a win-win situation so that the relationship is built on solid ground and so I believe that when we do negotiation well it represent the kingdom of God well
