Cc digisign evidence
King County is developing innovative technologies that improve services to communities by making government more efficient. The digital evidence project, part of the County Strategic Information Technology Plan, is giving law enforcement, prosecutors and defense attorneys a better way to share and store critical data. Digital evidence is something we deal with every day. And now with the digital evidence platform, it's really going to allow deputies to spend less time handling digital evidence. Digital evidence is something that we deal with every single day, almost on every single call, and we're talking about pictures at a crime scene were talking about taking a digital statement we're talking about. Sometimes digital evidence in itself, and that's something that deputies deal with in the field every single day. Almost on every call. Allowing a detective to upload themselves, whatever evidence it is that they recover at the scene; will eliminate having to hand off to another detective or another deputy to input that evidence for them. Really changing the way the chain of custody is handled, making it more efficient for detectives and for deputies on the scenes. So, surveillance on a robbery, the way that we have to deal with it now in order to get it into evidence is we have to secure it, have to print up the label. Then we have to drive to the precinct, need to actually input it by writing it down and then putting it into the evidence locker. Evidence.com is going to allow deputies to efficiently do their job a lot quicker. It's going to eliminate multiple steps that we have to take now to do the exact same thing. It's really goingto streamline everything and allow deputies get their job done quickly and efficiently in the field. So as far as secure evidence, everything that we do always needs to be secure. So with evidence.com, it's going to allow all of our files, all of our pictures, all our digital statements to be secure all the time so we don't have to worry about if it's going to get into the wrong hands or somebody else is going to have access to it. Digital evidence. Is growing tremendously at the rate of almost 5 terabytes a month. We could potentially see doubling or tripling in the next year. The current method of using DVD's to share information causes unnecessary delays, sometimes days before people can see this information. So for example the prosecuting attorney will be able to see it centrally from a web based tool. And log in and with the right permissions they will see it immediately. The County is developing a digital evidence platform that helps the Sheriff's Office and other police agencies take advantage of cloud computing. It's making our jobs easier. More efficiency means we can spend more time in the community and make justice work just a little bit faster. This program makes good investigations even better. We partner with prosecutor and public defender's office...
