one of my goals for this new year is to do a series for the youth group on the sacred humanity of christ now we're going to have a pop quiz this morning i'm going to test you going to see how well you know your catholic expressions how well you speak the catholic language okay you ready when we speak of the heart of jesus what adjective what descriptor do we always use that's right the sacred heart of jesus when we speak of the blood of christ what word do we use the precious blood of jesus when we speak of the face of our lord what word do we use that's right the holy face when we speak of the wounds of christ usually we allow two what are the two words for the wounds no not precious maybe sometimes but there's the two key ones is the holy wounds and the sacred wounds of christ and when we speak of the infant child what word do we use for the infant you guys are pretty pretty quiet on this i heard uh someone the divine infant so anyways if you didn't know that you can you can brush up on your catholic language but there are there are prayers in the catholic tradition there are devotions there are litanies even some feasts lots of sacred art that draw our attention to the sacred humanity of christ his sacred heart his precious blood his holy wounds and so on now when the kings it says in the gospel when the king when the three kings the three wise men saw the child the verb they used is they prosecute the greek word which is typically translated they worshipped him or sometimes they paid homage to him and this is what this is what the kings did this is what the shepherds did this is what the holy angels did our blessed mother saint joseph they worshipped the child they paid homage to the child they adored the child now if you heard father rogers preaching yesterday he said we can't love god unless we know him and we know that god he desperately wants to be known but it's still a grace father roger reminded reminded us god wants to give us this grace he wants us to receive the grace to see and understand who he is and this is called an epiphany someone will say i had an epiphany i saw my eyes were opened i understood what it was that the wise men the shepherds the angels our blessed mother saint joseph what they saw why did they adored why they worshipped and saint paul speaks about this in the second reading today from ephesians he says surely you have already heard of the commission of god's grace that was given me for you and how the mystery was made known to me by revelation he goes on to say it has now been...
