foreign hi everybody Liz Levine with signature College counseling so this week I'm going to talk about the college admissions timeline so of course it all depends on when you enter your college Journey right do you start in ninth or tenth grade to pursue that do you start at the beginning of 11th grader towards the end of 11th grade or do you start the summer before senior year or God forbid you start in the fall of your senior year right which is really really late in the game not that it's not possible to get it all done it is it just becomes a much more reactive process than a proactive process but regardless of when you start you still have to go through all the steps right it's just a matter of how much time you're going to go through those steps in certainly when it comes to anybody's College admissions Journey you want to be proactive this is one of the biggest decisions you're going to make in your life or your child's life uh to date and it certainly is going to be a huge financial decision of what you're going to have to make so you want to give it it's due you want to be sure that you select the right set of colleges because there's not just one perfect college for a student out there you want to make sure you select the right set of colleges that meet you as what we call Signature College counseling your safe match socially academically financially and emotionally and the way to do that is to start early so people come to me and ask a lot of time what's the ideal time to start so I would say for students ideally uh to get to really be proactive about the process starting in middle of 10th grade sophomore year in high school is really beneficial uh even if you start a little bit early in that but let's just start with the middle of 10th grade because what happens is you have a year and a half of high school under your belt you have an idea of what kind of student you are what your interests are you know when it comes academically I'm not thinking any student in high school rarely really knows what they want to major in or what they want to do with their life um because we all know that life is a Winding Road and 80 of kids change their major at least once in college right but so when you when I start with students the middle of 10th grade we start with college search right so that's one of the first things you start with and you I gather information with my clients I have a a cloud search questionnaire that I said to the parents I sent to the student uh that has like 40 50 touch points to it that go through...
