the first two weeks of the spring semester are going to be virtual instruction all instructors are provided with either google meet or in space for connecting with your students and you're going to want to communicate with your students how to find your google meet or in space meeting place for the first class of the semester it's important that every instructor does this in fairly consistent ways because otherwise students will be confused as to where to look so the simplest thing that we're recommending all instructors do is post an announcement in your canvas course so go to announcements create a new announcement and tell your students how we are going to meet add some messaging about how what your class what they need to bring for class how they need to be prepared and where to find you date and time and then tell them if you're going to be mating on in space or google me you can just type right in here and there's a linking tool to link to a google me session if that's what you're going to use if you're going to use in space in space is available right in the left hand side of your canvas course so you may want to link directly to that in space thing or you may say click on in space on the left hand side of the canvas course to meet right so that's sufficient if you want to get a little fancier i'm just going to open in space and i right clicked on this so i can open it in a new tab and not lose the announcement i'm working on and here's in space when you first launch into it it's going to pop up this window and until you click get started your students will not be able to access in space so it's not activated for them until you hit get started so if you're choosing the use in space click get started and that's it you're all done your in space will be set up and you'll see you'll have a classroom space and an office hour space and the classroom space the students can meet in even when you're not there if they want to use it as a study room but during the class session they can meet there now students can just go here click classroom and that will work to join the space if i click join space it's going to launch into in space and this link is unique to in space so i can copy this link if i want to get a little fancy and bring that this back and link to it so i'm going to do that i'm not going to worry about formatting right now for this video but you can make this as pretty as you want and next i want to show you how to do something similar for me now the nice thing...
