you in this video we will show the proper way to make a template of an area of your deck the same process can be used whether you are installing marine maps ticket series maps or snap it series match for this example we are using a 2016 Yamaha FSH and we'll be making a template for the bow area the supplies needed for making your template are clear or translucent mylar or pattern material we like a material called canvas and have it available in our template kit for purchase you will also need a straight edge masking tape razor knife or scissors a sharpie or other marker and the marine matte template instruction worksheet the worksheet is available for download on our website layout material over the area to be patterned cut the material to the approximate size of each area flatten the material and use the masking tape to hold it in place you [Music] using the marker and your straightedge begin tracing the areas you want the marine mat to cover it is best to trace just to the outside of the molded in non-skid if your boat has it's approximately 1/4 of an inch will work perfectly use the straight edge whenever possible so the CAD designers will not question if a line is supposed to be straight or curved went racing around hinges latches or other openings be sure to leave one quarter of an inch or more in clearance number all of your pieces and make notes referencing the bow or stern of the boat and any special notation our designers may need be aware of such as remove this section or cut out do not worry if all of your corners are not perfect radiuses we will design everything to be symmetrical unless you note on the template that they should not be or it is very obvious at this point using your marker mark an X or a series of lines that extend across both pieces of the template while they are still in place label the lines with letters on both pieces as a reference for our design team to be able to understand the relationship of the piece to each other this is important so whatever pattern your design includes will look like one continuous design over your entire deck the more notes to include on your template the better your maps will fit and look once installed remember our designers are not there with you while you're making this so the template is the communication to our design team take a picture of each area that you have patterns so you can email to your sales reps as a reference for our design team once you are done making the pattern remove it and fold or roll up the pieces to send to the marine mech factory in Oldsmar Florida along with your completed template worksheet when your template arrives at the marine mech factory our design team will lay it out and using our digitizer scanned it into our CAD system to complete your design [Music]
