So you've decided to start an online tutoring business, but there's only one problem. You have no idea how to find students to tutor online. So in this video, I'm going to share five tips that you can use to start finding your first tutoring clients. Hey, there, I'm Sonia Teach. I help teachers to start and grow an online tutoring business so they can work less hours and make more money. If that sounds good to you be sure to subscribe. So if you've been on the hunt for students for a while, then you might be feeling burnt out, overwhelmed and really discouraged. But that's why I want to start this video by giving you some positive affirmations. So I wrote them down. The first one that I want you to say is, "I am so thankful to be working with my dream clients". Let's say that one again. I say it with me guys. "I Am so thankful to be working with my dream clients. The second one I want you to say is there are, there is an abundance of students for me to work with online. Say it like me. There is an abundance of students for me to work with online. So why are we saying those affirmations and why are we starting the video off this way? Well, the reason I'm doing this is because having a positive mindset is so important when it comes to running your online tutoring business, it's easy to become discouraged when things aren't going your way. But the reality is when you're running a business, a lot of things, aren't going your way and you have to find a way to problem solve and strategize to find solutions instead of beating yourself up and getting yourself down. So saying affirmations is a very helpful way to keep your attitude up, to stay positive and to remind yourself that there is more than enough out there for you. There are more than enough students for everybody. It's not a competition, it's not a race and you will be totally fine. Okay. So now that we've gotten into the right mindset, let's get into the good stuff. How do you start finding shoot Institute or online? And now here is the thing that I want you to take into consideration that you might not have considered before. Just because you're tutoring a student online doesn't mean they have to be far away. Yes, you might want to tutor online, but they don't have to be on the other side of the world. They don't have to be in another country. They can be your next door neighbor. That being said, it's very important and valuable to leverage your local community, your local connections in order to find your first few tutoring clients. So what I mean by that, I mean, number one, letting your family and friends know that you're starting a tutoring business, just getting the word out there on Facebook. If you have a Facebook profile and letting people know, Hey, this is something that I'm doing. I'm just announcing that I'm starting to take students to tutor. Number two is creating a Facebook business page and collecting testimonials. You want to have a place out there where people can find you online. So they are searching for, you know, fourth grade math tutor. They are finding your Facebook page. And most importantly, you need to have testimonials AKA reviews on your Facebook page. So people know that you are good at what you do. And you have that proof that you can get results for clients. Number three is to connect in local Facebook groups. Again, I really encourage you to leverage your local connections because that is so much easier than trying to find a student on the other side of the world, because you can utilize the people that you already know. So connecting in local Facebook groups I know students that are tutors that have used, you know, just like if you're a, if you're a mom, maybe a local mompreneurs group or something like that, where there's opportunities for you to promote your services and let people know what you do. And basically to gradually over time, be known as the expert in your tutoring subjects. So make sure that you're leveraging those connections. You're connecting in local Facebook groups. You are positioning yourself as the expert in your topic. Number four is to reach out to former students and clients, maybe you've tutored before, but you tutored in person. You tutored face to face, but there's no reason why you can't tutor your in person, clients online. In fact, you can easily transition them online by letting them know how beneficial it is to do this online. So this is especially relevant. Now I'm making this video in June, 2020 in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. And right now a lot of people aren't even having face to face interaction. So tutoring online has become a necessity. Therefore, it's very normal for you to let your in person clients know that you are transitioning online. So there you go. It doesn't have to be somebody that's far away. The, the final tip that I have for you when finding students to tutor online is to network with other tutors. There are so many Facebook groups out there tutoring, Facebook groups, where you can connect with other people and get to know other people that are also tutoring. And the best part is if they have someone that they're not able to tutor, you can take on those clients. But that always comes down to making sure that you have a very focused subject area and age level that you're teaching. Because if you're trying to teach everybody, then you're gonna reach nobody. Let's face it. Finding your first few students to tutor online is not easy, but once you get going and you give those students an amazing experience and amazing results, those clients are going to start referring you to other people.
