i recently released a video whether you could change a video title without being punished by the algorithm in the video i said youtube attaches metadata to the video for example puppy tail tail waggle but there can be literally hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of these search terms that are attached in the metadata to your video your title description and thumbnail at the time of release is what youtube uses as a starting point for the discovery process but after that the algorithm doesn't look at your title description and thumbnail anymore it is frozen so you can change your title your description and your thumbnail all you want but the algorithm won't change its mind anymore about the metadata of the video the reason why i said this is because over the years i've tried to change my video titles many times to rank for new keywords but it never worked one of the resources that i used to create this video was a video on the creator insider channel which i consider to be a reliable source the video says this where does youtube get its data to be able to recommend videos if we are not looking at tags well there's a couple different places so as we talked about in the last video we did talk about the title and descriptions so um those are used to help match two queries that users are typing into search so if you put relevant information in there might help you get discovered you know a lot of people are always focusing on the the keywords right but um the reality of what drives a lot of search and discovery is user behavior so yes we use keywords to kind of get started if we don't know anything about the video nobody's ever watched it that's all we have to go on but then once users start watching it we actually learn from what the users are telling us with with their behavior so um if you have a channel that has subscribers for example then um we can learn uh based on what those subscribers are watching like which of your subscribers are interested in it what other videos are they watching and then we can start to recommend it in those contexts without even knowing anything about what the video is actually about so um we do use uh some data from the title description but ultimately once people start watching videos it's so much more helpful to know like what the audience is telling us about it than it is to just know that oh this is just another fortnight video i really thought that video titles were frozen until i thought of a way to test this a test that i admit i should have done in the research phase of the video so i added a unique code to this bad performing video on my channel i added a unique code in...
