media marketing and monetization so i've got seven social media strategies and this is kind of the template that i've personally used so the first one is you've got to get really clear on what social media platforms to use i mean right now you're probably watching this on youtube so youtube you have to understand the dna of different platforms for example if you used to use facebook versus instagram the the lifespan or the attention span of someone on instagram is very different to facebook and facebook's very different to youtube so let me ask you right now which one do you think of these three strategies um facebook instagram or youtube has the highest retention take a guess comment below it's actually youtube youtube's average time that people watch videos is much longer in fact people actually spend longer on youtube than they do watching tv right so youtube has now become the second biggest search engine in the world and so you've got to be really careful depending on what strategy you're using am i using instagram am i using linkedin am i using um tick tock am i using snapchat i'm using twitter so each one of these has a specific dna most of the times and like the default like what's the default one to use is facebook instagram or youtube so these are the three default ones i'd recommend starting with because so social media strategies specifically when it comes to youtube youtube has the highest quality of traffic because when someone sits there and watching your video for like 10 20 minutes then they're engaged in your content and also as well another advanced strategy you can use is actually retargeting so anybody who watches the video you can say hey let's let's show another video to everybody who just watched the previous video on xyz so make sure that you you're looking at different social media platforms and which suits your business for example if you do b2b then you want to use linkedin because linkedin can target job profiles you can target companies you can target skill sets which is huge by the way skill sets you can target skill sets and that's really really good for hiring okay and number two is are you doing a branded social media strategy or you're doing an income generation strategies are two different separate things and it's really hard to do both at the same time right so for me if you look at my instagram page for example i don't have that much offers on the instagram page right hardly any any like very rarely do i make an offer the reason for that is the more you sell on social media the more the less engagement you get and that's what you want to do the best social media strategies to get as much engagement as you can as many eyeballs as you can alright so that's if you're doing a branded strategy like you want to create a brand uh people search for you they see what content comes up and therefore now you start getting some more um engagement from people watching okay so you could do that um the third strategy i have for you is what we call the social media loop so the reason i'm able to get over five million people that follow me across social media platforms is because i take people from one social media platform to another social media platform to another social media platform to another social media platform that's why we call it the loop so what i do is uh the easiest way to build up a following is actually on facebook you can get 10 000 followers bang i mean a lot of my students they get 10 000 followers within a month and that's pretty simple and easy to achieve now once you've got the followers from facebook then what you want to do you want to drive them to instagram right so a good friend of mine he had like 30 million people on um facebook and they were he was making a post like a little snippet of his youtube video and say to watch the full video click to go and watch my youtube youtube video so that's how he can actually drive a lot of his followers from facebook to youtube but the way i do it i go from facebook to instagram why don't i go to instagram first instagram has a really high engagement so like if you look at all the different social media platforms like facebook the organic reach is not as good as it used to be so what you want to do is you want to go from facebook drive them into instagram right now they're on instagram what i want you to do there's actually three different um profiles you can build an instagram you've got your personal page you've got your creation page and you've also got your business page so you can actually change into one of these three i would actually change it into a business pay when i say page i mean like a instagram profile for example which is with business so business you need to put a link in there and that link guess what it should be should be your youtube channel so if you look at my instagram page you'll see that the link and when they click on that it'll take them to a youtube channel right so here's the important thing now you're getting followers from facebook facebook to instagram instagram now on to youtube and then of course you want to drive from youtube maybe to linkedin so now you're getting all four so when you get followers on facebook you're actually getting free followers across the loop completely free right and now you're building brand new multiple areas without doing any extra work and of course in your youtube videos you also want to put your descriptions to all your different profiles on across social media as well so we're driving all the traffic and if you want to be a little bit more advanced you could actually have them all go into different areas as well number four is the viral social media strategy this one you create viral content so i had a video that reached over 10 million people on facebook and i had 44 000 people that had shared that video so what the way i was able to do that was to create something that makes people go wow right i actually created this video called the 10 habits of self-made millionaires in fact if you go to youtube typing john lee 10 habits are self-made millionaires you'll see there's a video but that exact video on facebook got a lot more shares now when you want your content to go viral it's easier for it to go viral on facebook than in this youtube unless you have millions of followers already fine but a lot of people the reason why videos go viral it's not because it goes viral on that platform what happens is people watch it then they'll copy the link and they'll share it to somebody else and they'll watch that video right so this is where we want to start doing a viral social media strategy to start getting more reach and number five is coming across curated accounts a really good social media strategy people say to me john i don't want to show my face i don't want to tell people who i am i want to be behind the camera so one thing you can do and one of the best ways again instagram is to actually use a what we call a curated account so that means you scour the internet for all the best content and then you put that content on a page which doesn't show your face it's just other people's content and of course you want to credit people when you do that as well all right so um created content is a great way to start um a lot of people do that in facebook as well they do that youtube not so much youtube you can um you can do like a hybrid version when you do a bit of your content you have a guest speaker come in they do their piece uh maybe you interview somebody that's kind of a hybrid model as well all right so that's number five number six is you've got to look at what monetization strategy you're using right now the social media strategy template one of the things i use is to make sure that i'm having monetization on and by the way i don't mean when people watch your video you get paid money for it i'm talking about different strategies so for example i could have product placement you see that lamp back there i could have charged someone to put that lamp in my video right so one of the things i want to think about is how you're going to monetize this and the reason for this is it's really hard to grow a channel organically right it's really hard to grow a channel organically what i mean by this is putting content out there and you know it takes time and you know the whole goal of this is to put out you know if you have a video that has 100 views and then over a year then it has you know thousands of views and then over a number of years it has thousands and thousands of views that's the way you want to look at it so when i'm creating monetization strategies i'm creating a video specifically for what it is i want to offer so let's say i want to sell a book for example i might say hey by the way in this video i want to talk about um the five things i cover in this book in the detail then i just go into and i start saying bang bang bang bang bang and i just go into you know strategy one strategy two and i just read things that i've even had people sit there and read chapters of their book and they say by the way if you would like to buy the book then the link is below so that's the most subtle way to do well some of you see the books back there i'm going to get a lot of messages from you saying john what is the orange book back though the black book of the blue book right these are the three books that myself and my business partner had written in order and by the way we if you're looking for our books um maybe i'll link some below but um one i highly recommend you start with there's the middle one then that is the business hack um and that talks about how to start your business um in the digital age right so you'll think so that would be an example of monetization right i said go and if you want to learn more then there's a book there that you can buy so you can also do this for the people as well so the way you monetize is you can say hey do you have anything that you'd like to to sell and you create a piece around that and then you mention the product so for example i might talk about let's say this um it's a charger right it's a phone case charger so i might do a whole thing on how to keep your battery charged long time to keep your phone in your battery lasting for two or three days and then i say but actually one of the best ways to do it is i use one of these this is a power pack but it's actually a case power pack so you can see there you can actually plug your phone in and then it will charge and give you double the charge and if you click on this then it will actually um charge it for you so that would be an example of someone maybe paying me money to promote some of their products so that's another thing to do as well okay number seven this one is like if you don't do this i know i keep saying it's a lot of money if you don't do this this is the best one this this is the thing that's going to protect you forever and this is the thing that's going to make you money over and over and over and over and over again okay now before i get before i these are going to drive them into your own platform right you have to have a list a list is what allows you to earn more income because let's say right now i've got let's say when the first book came out i built a list of 50 000 people just off that book all right so what i did is when the new book came out i sent an email saying hey if you love my first book i have a second book that's come out it's called property entrepreneur right for those people that want to invest in property so and then we i just write an email i put a paypal link there on my amazon they click to buy and i literally sell thousands and thousands and thousands of copies of my book so this is why it's so important to listen you've heard probably heard about social media platforms being pulled down if you look at how social media used to be years ago a lot of those platforms have now disappeared so you really want to have your own and create your own platforms one of the best things you can do i tell you for me it's what's allowed me and i i honestly say this it's what's allowed us to create multi-million pound businesses by having a list finding what the people want that's in the list creating a solution and then selling it back to them right and and that works because you're you're being relevant with your products and services so number seven build a list and build your own platform okay so the
