Compliant mark
g'day guys got a video today of us out testing this rifle now i've done videos and i'll put a link on there below too or about all the details there's a couple of little mods i've done to it that i wanted to test but this season the main paddock we want to do our testing in isn't really ready to use we've managed to shoot around the corners of it but it's still full of very high stubble so not we're not able to see impacts or see anything so we've spoken to a neighbouring property and shooting into his property made sure it was fine with him with some a bit of paddock that we felt was going to be all right it's around i think a 400 acre paddock it's got a small mob of sheep in it but as you'll see here that small mob of sheep happened to be right where we set up the target so there's two things we're actually testing one to see if we can work with the sheep need to be a good couple hundred meters away so we're not getting anything close to any sheep or that sort of stuff but we're actually testing the dirt it is just meadow or fields so it hasn't been tilled or anything like that it is just grown grass on that paddock so really hopeful it's going to give us good readings on that side of things but we also need to make sure that we can that we're not going to be um well make sure that the the sheep movements will be fine for it so we zoomed in on that spot and just had a couple of shots just to test the dirt and see what the actual dirt was going to respond like very hopeful um and well here this is how it went where'd you go [Music] turret beautiful oh that's just a little bit to the right of where i shot yeah exactly the right height where i shot head down around their target okay so well another one of those verify that so we can figure out our wind yet so there was another five minutes of wind but very good in the way of everything else so i'm gonna see where i shoot and spot it for myself because i can't really call anything out there yeah yeah i'm across here awesome okay so the next bit we went out to was we swapped over now that was a 40 minute process we're going to go through half a dozen gates both directions we had to move all the targets and the gopros and swap over some batteries and bits and pieces to get all that going again but really wanted to see we're the target out there so i really had something to aim at not expecting to hit and not going to go through and get rounds till we get to that place but really testing c group wise to start off but really testing that dirt [Music] right and low two and a half targets right two targets low okay well that's not terrible is it yeah man a little bit more wind that's good awesome one shot right there okay right and low before we target right half target low okay for the second shot yeah man certainly walking up really nicely yeah oh just left and tall one take it tall live with the left edge of plate okay so i went a little bit too far there's a lot less dust in that one okay a lot less dust to see yeah now as you can see that you could hear that impact it was nice and close you heard the bullet buzzed past you heard the projectile actually rotating after it hit the ground so that tells me that it was no more than let's go really really short and it was 10 meters shorter target it sounds more like it was probably more like five meters shorter target and you heard it buzz over the top weird stuff from that target but the wind is actually moving around quite a bit going gusting don't know where [Music] that's fascinating right in that spot there they disappear there's a proper impact sound but we're not able to see anything so what i'd say at this stage and this is probably to help people a little bit there's a mistake that we made well dealing with the conditions we'd taken longer to set up so the sun had got higher and as you start to see in that image the light starts to get a little bit whiter and and you'd think you can see the dust but there is a 400 or nearly 500 gram projectile hitting the dirt and there's nothing we could see i would comment that we had better vision um the camera we got set up there being so low what we should have switched over we really had sort of given up on doing a video so recording for our own sake at that stage but the camera had started to focus on the foreground what we should have done in that situation sam should have swapped over to manual focus so it stayed focused on the target but as said we weren't really in that mind we were much more in the case of just trying to um just test and see what we had but i felt it was worthwhile showing people two things there the dirt really does matter it does change things dramatically the angle of the light matters as much and that angle that light being higher really change things so the last bit we do we always get questions about the speeds and wanted to verify it was windy so i was really concerned about where the lab radar was going to work but we got it to work we set it up just shut that's out actually out at just under 1400 yards we're shooting in the paddock it shot really really well it's about 22 minutes of elevation and just basically dialed in got it as short as i could get it in this current setup but from where we're shooting so as close to range as possible beautiful got on that spot i didn't see but i've got a reading awesome three two three seven so we'll go and do four rounds beautiful nice bit of dust there it was 327 wouldn't it yes the last moment and then three two thirty three twenty thirty three so not terrible yep all about testing that's good one more right there right there okay 32 33 and those speeds um really consistent really happy with those sort of speeds that's um really really good um and and right on what i'd hoped for in the way of speed wise um like i said i might pull it back down to it just on the flat 3200 you know with 31.90 that sort of stuff but we'll see that might be in the brass prep as well anyway that's how that day went so listen we didn't get and i suppose it's a thing i wanted to put forward for people to understand a little bit both in the way of this sort of stuff it isn't just go out and shoot for people who think if you're not hitting the target you're not doing any good no you've got to get there and develop it this rifle here which should be in theory as good as you could possibly get for long-range shooting it still it takes even more so as i'd expect even more setting up to make it work properly um there's a lot more recoil and everything is starting to work super well with this thing i've got to say my sliding bipod system the people aren't aware i've set up so i've got a little bit of pre-load ability but it's also got the sliding bipod thing side of things that's working really really well i'm very happy with the angle of everything and that sort of stuff really happy with it i've got the rubber feet on here it's not what i'm using when i'm normally shooting this when i'm shooting this thing i've got extensions on there for the elr side of things but also with heavy steel spikes no rubber to bounce around nice and strong and i was really happy happy with the action of that gun that really was backwards and forwards and looked really good so it's happy on that score i may do this is my big break off the 50 bmg i may do another break and i want to do some other designing maybe with one that doesn't have the right back just straight sideways and see how much recoil difference i've got a lot easier to machine the other systems but i want to do a bit of testing down that front so i may do a little bit of design there but largely the rig's really good i've got to get the conditions to go and shoot it at the two miles and beyond which is a struggle this season but listen working really well really happy with it as you saw those first two shots you know we were just off and nearly on with the second shot sort of stuff so in that place working really well but still work to go the bit that's different and the other reason i wanted to show people is i built this little guard rail for the front this actually just bolts on over the top it is a bit of a process this one comes to that comes to the target or comes to the range in two pieces well four pieces five pieces now the bipod unbolts easily the scope we put on and off and we put the barreled action in and out so it means this is made where there's just six bolts it unbolts as well the reason for it is to be able to run these units both i suppose you'd call them competitors um really they're four different levels of of elr this is the night force wedge it can clip on the front here with this little system so it's set up to um do that right it's set up to be able to go on there i've got to tighten that up to fit that rail but it's set up to be able to go in there and that gives 100 minutes of elevation so for this sort of rifle that's going out to the 4k sort of stuff that's a long way out the um yeah over two miles easily well it's shooting two miles with just i should explain that i was up 120 on the scope i had 20 on the lower rail here once i go to using either one of these products i'll come back to where i've zeroed out the rail and then just use the scope but this one gives me up to 200 minutes of elevation so we're sorry 220 minutes of elevation so good elevation on that side of things today i was using 140 minutes of elevation so didn't need it for that and then i've got the rail i can also mount this on the front the charlie character i've put myself another little thing on there so i can put the charlie to rack on and then of course this little rig here can go yeah as as far as i need to go um get up to sort of 400 minutes of elevation um in that sort of setup now i've done that on other rifles and i've done this before by strapping to the front of the scope or setting the charlie character on the front there which is certainly possible to do and it works really well i'd have to say with the weight of it and the fact that i could modify this without too much trouble to put a rail on the front here i thought listen let's do it that way around we're doing it other way around another place let's do that as well so i've got this adapter ring to be able to put the the wedge on the front of the scope which i could do without any problems and i'm doing that on other rifles on this one here heavy recoil and it's a heavy rifle already so putting a little bit more weight into it up the front nothing no problem with doing that the probably it's a really this is a dolphin chassis really nice and rigid so very happy with it but nothing negative about putting a little bit more um rigidity up the front here as well um and i my honest calls i think it looks pretty good too but um that's i suppose that's my opinion but anyway that's the um that's what i wanted to bring you today not a not actually trying to get a hit on plate hey listen we'll take them if they happen and the rifle's not quite there yet you know i would say there's a little bit i want to refine with things but the rifle the round all that sort of stuff are all shooting really well really nice to shoot you sure there's no buck or weave or wriggle in the in the front of that that's working really really well so super happy with it like i said might do a little more with a different break and more of what we can actually sell to people rather than these extremely custom ones but i want to do a little more testing there as you also saw up there this very big open ports to give me maximum sort of braking ability or that's my thoughts on it they also are very troublesome with the dust and the and this sort of season with a lot of chaff and dirt and stuff everywhere as much as my little brakes control it these bigger ones start to struggle so maybe i can refine that little bit as well anyway um i suppose it's also to show that no matter everyone can deal with that sort of stuff so when you're out there you can't see impacts it happens to everybody and that's the process that you know which i'm going through whether that's light or the particular dirt or what was going on we have another place to try hopefully our paddock will get sorted out shortly but that one there we've got another place to work with and also obviously got to keep an eye on work out a way to not have the sheep around the target anyway hope you like the video guys thanks for checking in on this and we'll catch you next time [Music] you
