we are back at Lake Ouachita and we want to share with you some of our kayak camping gear but our weekend was cut short with a heavy downpour [Music] good afternoon everybody we just cruised on up to our Island that we're gonna camp at well it's actually not an island but it is a short in a big area and you guys have asked us several times about when we go kayak camping what do we bring how do we pack it so I'm just gonna show you I'm gonna pull some stuff out of here and let you know when I have in the front of my boat and then we'll get two counties though [Music] when we did our original review of everything that we have with our kayak camping setup we had that Coleman mattress and then we had the therm arrest and just recently you asked us if we prefer the Coleman or the therm arrest funny story we now prefer the therm arrest because the platter on the inside of the Coleman pinched and when it pinched it filled up the other I guess fabric external piece and it became a big of a water bag like a waterbed so Kody was all night like his boat was down at my hand was up and it happened on the first night we had two nights oh yeah it couldn't have happened on the second night so this is my favorite pillow ever I even now sleep I got off in Vaughan it scoop HomeGoods they make a bigger pillow that you that's like a rheostat pillow and I ordered it but it had this really really strong smell I'm like weird with chemicals and I washed it and everything and it just is still this one for some reason did not smell like that but it might you always gets the better stuff first you know having well it's because it's easier for him to sleep I mean this thing has memory foam in it how about memory foam for us at the house don't you want to see what I get but that's what you chose it's cute it's you could but that's what you chose here we go get something here [Music] unfold it and then push that little button and I don't I don't like it to be firm I like I like it soft hello so we did get a fan we showed you our fans and last vlogs we went ahead and brought two and we're just there you fit in the boat why not yeah I don't think we've really showed y'all close up these fans I mean they fold flat we put them in the description of the last vlog for you but we know you were asking about them so we love these things go we'll hook on them here's the settings with the LED light three settings dim and then the fan has three settings - can you feel it powerful isn't and the last thing we want to talk about before we start enjoying this beautiful week in that we have started already is one of you had asked about this g4 free chair that we got off Amazon and how to put it up because you're having issues with it it can be a little difficult if you don't put the Brightside on first look like it all just kind of clicks together yeah but the the trick isn't about the clicking the trick is about putting this on because it has these little tabs that connect down here and then it's got these long slits up here for the top well you want to work you don't want to start with the bottom first you want to start with the top first and go it down about let me see if I can get it in myself go down just a little bit don't go down all the way right when you get it just go down a little pull this side in go down just a hair once you get it and then go down all the way with it and last pull this back like this which can be some tension and slide it on in like that there you go we're hungry some about to get dinner ready and something I've never made on the vlog before especially kayak camping so I'm gonna whip it up for you guys and you're gonna be surprised [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] that is my turkey sandwich I think we're gonna call it the evening it's gonna get dark my hair looks like this cuz I'm about to go get in the water and I don't want to get it wet I think it looks pretty so we're gonna go do that and probably just hang out so it gets dark and then getting the take go to bed but tomorrow we're gonna have a good time it's gonna be a beach day and I'm excited about it oh but anyway I hope you don't enjoy my turkey sandwich sometimes you see a really good turkey sandwich you know I do agree because she really wanted one in Utah and she was all man mmm good old turkey sandwich but we will see you in the morning [Music] you [Music] good morning we can confidently say we didn't sleep at all last night you just need a big comfy pillow the problem and then I got this pillow and this beach town and that really doesn't work but her side is level and I know what my problem was is I'm gonna ships more than gravel under my side cuz the whole night I was fight and roll in this direction towards the lake I know that's what my problem was what's really awesome is how clear this water gets whatever everything calms down what's for breakfast this morning [Music] alright so I'm ready to cook dinner I mean dinner ya'll breakfast thank you no sleep um not really cooking anything I'm just gonna boil some water for some coffee I didn't forget the coffee but I'm gonna use this little burner it's the MSR brand so I'm just gonna open all these little gadgets up it fits very discreetly in that box make sure this is off then you want to screw it here make sure those are all even you want to make sure you got some even flat ground to that really help if I did just bring a jug of water just to start out with so we don't have to get out here and immediately start filtering the water we are gonna culture water when we run out of this right around the bend that direction is Lake Ouachita State Park and we paddled long paddle but we got here pry after 3040 minutes of paddling actually 30 40 it was a minute we had headwind on top of it that Peninsula there's the end of the State Park and then that's the first island that's a disattached from it while Kelly was doing her little yoga I fixed the bed I think I fixed it my sleeping situation what I did I just got some his gravel pushing it under here and then leveled it out with my hand and I laid on it and I felt like I wasn't rolling anymore we also carry this awesome mesh bag for disposing waste or if we see anything we got this one from Arkansas Game and Fish Commission actually wanna splurge a couple weeks ago and bought these mats the the company was called West hike West hikers and literally with an ad on Instagram and I clicked on it this is what it looks like it's superlight it packs up this big small so when you air it up it has a headrest part kind of like an inflatable inner tube or air mattress to land and it has these little air pockets here and when it blows up it only takes a couple of breaths to blow it up and then when you let it out it and literally deflate in a second get him out last night and because we were like oh let's just goes what we already have but since we didn't sleep very good I went ahead actually I was laying out on the rocks with that because I wanted to be comfortable for a little bit so that's like you know what I'm gonna try that tonight so I'm gonna put it in the tent and we'll see how it goes we're about to filter some more water again because we ran out because I drink a lot of water and we want to show you that survivor filter again that we've been using comes this nice little bag you got your hoses is your floater filter and of course the filter itself and this little handy syringe when you get home this is nice to use because you get clean water and you can actually reverse flow through this to help push water and crud that came from this in back out to extend the life of this so this is pretty neat they just started adding that in there hook up your inlet hose has a little clip on it Inlet good or at outlet hose outlet goes on top and then your Inlet who has a floater on it and that's where you put that filter turn the water and you can actually use this as a cup if you need to when you that's all you have we'll put the link for all the information on this filter below these guys I mean they do a great job on their warranty as well and you can contact them directly if you ever have issues with it so once you purchase the filter they will send you an email and ask you to sign up for the warranty you it doesn't cost any extra for the warranty it just takes you checking your email and son and the warranty if anything breaks they'll replace all the parts for you the reason we came all the way out here to filter water is because we have a bunch of waves at the bank where we're at and then it's a code that just kind of closes in over there so to get cleaner water and not to clog the filters of quickly because we'll go through a lot of filters is just to come out here and do it waters a lot cleaner away from the bank we have some great news because we have a little bit of phone service out here and every once in a while we can check things like our subscriber count and as of right now we just hit five thousand subscribers and I want to say thank you to everybody that is subscribed I really appreciate it oh it's awesome we're geeking out a little bit did not know that was gonna be this and we are so thankful for everybody who watches all our content it means so much I can't believe people actually like the watch and the fact that we've touched so many people's lives and fire people to get out and do stuff and this is just what we love to do yeah we so thank all of you it's awesome I got goose bumps however there's a chance of rain coming yeah of course and we're about to bust out something we've never talked about on our vlog before because we don't need it that much because we don't kayak camp a lot and we only use this one we expect rain yeah so let's bust it out so what we have here is a Golden Eagle tarp that already has cordage attached to it and we got this Amazon Amazon I don't even know if we know what that link you it's been a long time ago when I got that well we originally got this for our hammock tents when we got into the hammock - camping but we don't like sleeping in hammocks for long periods of time so we still use this as a canopy so to speak kind of like our white canopy then we take car camping so what is so neat about this like I said is that the cordage is attached to it already and this is the ends that make up the top pitch of the canopy intact waiting here are these hooks where all you have to do is loop around a tree connect back to itself and then you have an actual adjuster so you don't have to tie do knots or anything so let's get that up then other parts that touch down to the ground are just regular old cordage with nothing fancy attached to it and you get a baguette stakes that come with it you can stake it to the ground and create a pitch but what we're going to try to do is make one side be higher than the other and have like just a full-on awning so let's get that going that's it and then handy your pockets on a shirt love it and then an actual cordage that comes down towards the ground doesn't have a hook but you can adjust it however you wanted to but I want to go full out because I'm doing something a little bit different like this just put that around like that then this is what you're left with is a set up like this we could have everything under here dry we put a pitch on it so all the water would come off the backside but as you can tell if you're in a hammock you would put your hammock directly in the center and how I have these strung up to the trees you would drop it and then you'd have a pitch on both sides but uh this works out pretty nice I like it just want to give you guys a little update the winds have picked up and I believe that that 40% chance might hit us any minute we heard thunder it's starting to sprinkle or under the canopy now and it is supposed to stop later but the thing is it's gonna start raining again tomorrow morning at 5 a.m. we would probably pack up and leave later to this afternoon if that continues we're gonna keep checking the weather good thing about where we're at we have a little bit of phone service it's kind of in and out so we're gonna just stay under here see what happens it's getting a little choppy oh yeah Thunder it's getting really choppy out there next update we had to drop the frame flaw because the rain started to come in at an angle it's good really crazy out here goes look at these waves [Music] I don't know if you feel as giddy as I do when bad weather comes and I get really giddy when there's a bad weather nationally you'll know how good this part is working out it the rain is coming inside way so I Cody angle it down that way but we're dry it's dripping off I'm going to see it puddling well we have made a decision we're gonna pack up and leave because we do not want to be packing and paddling in the rain tomorrow so we're learning at the tarp and the tent dry we're gonna pack up some of the little stuff and go from there so see you guys back at the truck alright so we are unlearned our boat and we found a fan she is an every kayak before so we're gonna let her test it out what's your name Maisie Gracie all right you ready guys you're six and you believe in hot springs all right well you ready to try kayaking for the first time yeah all right let's do it all right turn it that way and then paddle this one and then the other one there you go he goes small dose yeah so Gracie did a great job hiking and swimming I'm very proud of her but we're at a brewery it's called stud brewery and we're gonna check it out for the first time so we have been at the daiquiri for a while and the beers are really good okay should make sure I said it right but we have Brad here and he's on her bruise all the beer and his lovely wife Shasta it's not just me I have a business partner and he'd be so mad at me if I left him out we made my business partner started this up in October we've been brewing together for about eight years we have 30 years of brewing experience independent combined we got to the point where we are brewing so much beer that we couldn't drink it fast enough so he's basically started the business so he could sell our beer to our friends and then it grew into this that's that the green building behind you is what we brewed in for a lot so we brew five and ten gallon batches we're working our way into brewing we've just recently gotten the equipment to groove 35 gallons or one barrel system so we're moving into a 35 gallon system but we just moved up to a thirty-five about your gallon system which is cutting my brewing from five to six days a week to two which is awesome and we're getting a you know a more consistent product across the board that kind of changes when you're doing the bigger batches it's easier to make sure everything is a little more so via we're just now kind of moving in that direction and we're experiencing the normal growing pains of any breweries I really like about your beer is that the aftertaste mm-hmm because this is a totally different beer than the first one I have and it you have a really good after taste it's just it's floral and yes it's amazing I can identify them by the color I totally enjoy well we do and our goal is to be home brew we want to stay as home brewing weed stays true to home brew as possible so we still do a natural carbonation by our carbonation most of it comes from the yeast that's still in the beer so we don't filter it we don't do any of the other stuff that other people do to get that nice clean to tie all of our beers are little easy because it's full of we brand new on the road immediately looked it up and I was like we have to go there so if people are coming from maybe hot springs area how would they if you're coming from hot springs the quickest way to get here is to go seven to five to one twenty eight we are 15 20 minutes outside of hot springs depending upon where you're coming from all right you're coming from the Little Rock area or from parts east getting on one say if you can get onto i30 then you take the 111 exit at a highway 17 you follow that to 128 where seven point seven point eight miles seven point eight seven point eight and two point two from from either side of the roads and then you can't miss a sign if the wind doesn't blow it down I had to set it up again today because every time in storms oh yeah the wind cages so I have to set it up every couple days we hope that y'all enjoyed this video and that we put
