[Music] hey everybody welcome back to the channel today on j bob and sons this is kind of like a public service announcement this is base set charizard one of the most sought after pokemon cards out there before we get started you guys make sure you hit the like button drop a comment and as always hit the subscribe button if you're enjoying our content so i get asked often who is the face of pokemon is it pikachu or is it charizard well i'd say it's probably both pikachu's got the cuteness for me but charizard's got the fire breathing awesomeness and so um i think they both are and you know what that's all right the newest set vivid voltage has really focused on pikachu and there's a big chase card in that set but of course charizard um often one of the most valuable cards in the sets that have been really released so um i'll put here in the just up here at the top of the video a link you can see where um i got a psa return of this bad boy so this is the base set unlimited charizard and again one of the real really most sought after cards and so the most valuable pokemon cards that are in existence right now are actually this card but in its shadowless first edition form uh that card is fetching like you know hundreds of thousands of dollars um you know a couple pokey pokey tubers recently have shown that this card with the again with the shadow being removed here those cards when they get high grades they can be very very valuable so here i put up on a description up above i'll put where you can watch a video where i did like a um investment video where i kind of go into a little bit further the difference between shadowless and non-shadowless cards but today you guys this is sort of a public service announcement um you got to be careful when you're looking for these cards online so let's go to ebay all right so we're here at ebay and um you guys know i have a base at charizard it's a psa 5 but you know i am also looking for the shadowless cards as well because i am trying to put together a shadowless base set but you know that'll probably be pretty difficult so here we have a charizard it's a base set unlimited unlimited just like the one that i have in the psa 5. looks like it's in pretty good condition you can see the artwork is the same so it's the same card here just raw so 230 dollars six watchers on that one but let's keep scrolling so we have um and oh just to check the back on that that's something i always do when you're looking for pokemon cards always want to make sure that you look at the back because that whitening around the borders definitely dictates um if you do get it graded it will dictate what kind of grade that you get here's another one that's way more expensive wow this one's this one someone wants almost two thousand dollars and the reason is that shadowless so again when you look on the right there of the artwork you see there's no shadowing on the box on that artwork and so that's how you know that's a shadowless card and it does demand more so this is a base set this is shadowless it's non-first edition let's check out the back the back definitely some whiting on that still i would i would argue this is probably price right these cards can fetch so much money being in the shadowless they got nine watchers on this card right here so um but uh i've been noticing something kind of funky about and so s so you got to keep a lookout on the uh keep an eye on this guys because i have noticed something uh pretty remarkable about uh the charizard card in particular and some of the other pokemon cards and that's the they can be faked and so you got to be careful uh and some of the fakes look really good so you gotta really be diligent when you're looking on here don't come up on ebay late at night after you've had a couple drinks or something and start searching for these cards because you might get tricked and um uh and so i just wanted to like let you guys know there's a couple of videos about this people love to replicate and create these what are known as uh proxy cards so we're scrolling down through here we see all these charizards um you know some of them are raw some of them are graded um but then check this guy out wow this is only 49.97 this is only 50 bucks for a base set card let's let's oh first edition shadowless now that's what i'm talking about let's take a look at that nice you guys see that's a first edition stamp right there beautiful card right how is this only 50 well that's because this is this is fake and um even the holo kind of looks like it is a hollow there so how are we supposed to know the difference and um i've never held one of these cards so i'd imagine the card stock's different but your your big clue and what people at least do is put right here at the top that word proxy and so um i didn't realize what proxy meant i actually had to message one of the ebay one of the sellers and i said hey uh this is a cool card what does proxy mean and they didn't really get they gave me a really like bizarre response not not actually addressing my question just like a link to the definition of proxy and the definition of proxy is fake basically so basically they're telling me it's a fake card and you got to read this stuff you can just buy this but you can show it off to your friends and they won't know the difference like what why would you want to do that it just seems a little bit shady um i get i get it that you know making artwork like this is cool and awesome but to sell it on ebay and try to get money uh i don't know especially when it's it to the uninitiated you you might get tricked and you might buy a card at least in some of these ebay listings so let's search for proxy and boom look at all of these listings lots of listings okay and some of them are for a lot of money so it's almost like are people trying to really just get money out of this because it's artwork or people just actually trying to deceive now these listings say proxy in the listing and so that's where how they came up on our search but what if someone's just selling this and then they don't list the proxy how many of those cards are getting sold every day and so it's a little bit it's a little bit weird um so i just wanted to highlight that in this video and let you guys know i mean look at this one i mean honestly if it didn't say proxy and i saw these images it'd be pretty difficult to tell if it was fake or not but this is absolutely a fake card that someone created and uh that's tough and of course they're gonna do it for charizard because like i said this card can fetch hundreds of thousands of dollars in a graded psa 10 condition so i just watched a leonhart video where they just pulled base at charizard first edition and you know if that thing grades up then it's going to be look at this first edition shadow list base set check out this guy's proxy and and then he puts psa like really so you're going to send your proxy cards to psa well first of all psa is not going to grade a proxy card right um they they should be able to distinguish between real and fake pokemon cards and check this guy out do you guys see that look at that charizard that's the charizard v-max and this is not even released in the united states yet so if this was a real card i mean that would be huge to pick that thing up this this is in the shiny v set right now shiny v is japanese said it just dropped you can go on a couple youtubers and see these cards right here this is the newest charizard chase so not even out in english at all so all these are fake but how are you gonna know the difference uh these listings at least list that but i think they're trying to get you to buy these and you know what not not everyone reads the descriptions you guys so let's uh search for shadowless proxy and yeah um lots of listings here but there's the one that i really wanted to show you that just kind of blew my mind and i have it on the uh thumbnail for this video you see this right here a lot of five base set hollows but they're all proxy here you go right here check this card out first edition shadowless holo replica for display purposes proxy look at this this is a faked psa case gem mint 10 charizard first edition shadowless so this card um if it was real would be worth i mean 300 400 000 maybe um some of these are going at auctions for just outrageous prices but what just blew my mind that somebody's created not only the fake card but then put it in a fake psa case and i don't know you guys i just don't know why someone would do this um to be honest i mean it just seems like it it it just opens up the door for deceiving and deception and it's just not cool and check this out it has five bids it has five bids it's up to 51 dollars there's still a day and a half left on this thing i i i can't even get over it like who's bidding on this and and why um you know honestly it's almost like out of curiosity about dropping a bit i just want to kind of see what to hold this thing because it's hilarious but i hope people realize what it is and these bids um are not people that think this is a real the real deal because again not everyone reads the description you guys so um i i just find this absolutely fascinating i've never seen anything like it um i want you guys to know about it i have been seeing a lot of information out there about faking uh bgs and other cases these days so kind of crazy do your due diligence um and uh stay safe out there and happy buying all
