Digi sign road trip itinerary

hello everybody I hope that you are well yes the New Zealand content has returned and in this video I'm going to be giving you a really good New Zealand road trip itinerary and tips on how to plan your route I have travelled through the whole of New Zealand twice now once on the Kiwi experience and one on our own bespoke very tree I also worked in Queenstown for a whole year doing travel agency work and also concierge work so I'd like to think I know the country pretty well and most certainly know the hot spots that you should be hitting up if you are planning your own Road Trip I'll go through the hot spots first and then talk a bit about the actual route and getting around afterwards by the way if you want kiwi and watching this I sincerely apologize if I pronounced anything wrong which is probably quite liked so I'll start at the top and work our way down up in the Northland we have the beautiful bay of islands it's most common to stay in PI here but many also stay in Brussels the Bay of Islands is where you can find beautiful secluded beaches going snorkeling sailing and kayaking is very popular it's a super peaceful place one of my favorites in New Zealand actually it really feels like a little escape holiday you can go on day trips to Cape Briana from the Bay of Islands which is the very tip-top of New Zealand so quite a novelty you can literally see where the Tasman Sea is colliding with the Pacific Ocean which is pretty cool it's also one of the most popular spots to go sand boarding if that's an activity on your bucket list also up here in Northland that I like open Oni is a very small quaint beach town where it's also possible to sand board wiry key hop horse in and gour Springs is a pretty awesome spot they are thermal mineral pools which are super gross to look Alba a really cool experience you've also got New Zealand's largest carry tree here and the waipoua forest or waipoua forest which is a really awesome spot if you happen to be passing by now down in the Auckland area first of all I would get out of the city as soon as you can unless there is something particular that you want to do inside of the city of Auckland Waikiki Island is just a 20 minute ferry ride away which is a pretty snazzy Island most popular for its beautiful vineyards and wineries and over on the west here you have PR and Kerry which are actually popular holiday getaway spots for Kiwis beautiful waterfalls good surfing and super called black sand beaches and over here we've got the Coromandel Peninsula and just before you reach the town of Thames there is a little road which takes you right into the middle of coromandel Forest Park where you can do an epic hike to the pinnacles hunt it's a six-hour hike that you can do all in one day or you can stay in the hut overnight so that would be two days of three hours walking and up here you have the classic old town of coromandel there's nothing overly special there other than the amazing coffee at coromandel cafe neutral speech is one of these super secluded like a Paradise Cove you can only reach by a half an hour hike at low tide so super cool and around here you have cathedral cove which again you can only visit at low tide but is an epic Instagram spot and you can also go kayaking and then a bit further down is hot water beach which is another novelty there are thermal springs underneath some parts of the sand so what everyone does is bring shovels and dig your own pool which becomes a bit of a natural jacuzzi because of the hot water underneath again this has to be at low tide for it to be possible so basically when you're in coromandel just be aware of the tide times moving on down we have tow drummer but the real attraction here though is mountain manganui a gorgeous happening surf town with lots of fun beachy activities to do about half an hour inland from that it's oh man our Falls also known as secret Falls as it's incredibly hard to get you because the track is closed because it's dangerous and sketchy AF so I won't go into how to go about it all I can say is good luck and it's awesome and here we have Rotorua where there is so much to do you can literally just have a holiday here but don't miss guyline losing zorbing wai-o-tapu and all the thermal parks and it also has the best whitewater rafting in new zealand you can go down the highest waterfall that you can raft commercially anywhere why Tomo here is about the way and people only come here but one thing but let me tell you that one thing is worth that water rafting also known as K so you I'll sail down you float through the cave on a tube just looking at the absolutely thousands of glow where they usually get you to climb back up through a waterfall it's a really special epic experience now Lake Taupo is the largest lake in New Zealand it is the same size of Singapore actually and taupo is a popular place to go skydiving you must see huka falls and heading south of the lake you get to tongariro national park where you can do the tongariro alpine crossing which is supposedly endzones best one-day hike and I agree it's absolutely phenomenal and if you do not do any other hikes in New Zealand do this hopping down to the capital city of Wellington one of the most beautiful cities in my opinion which you can see firsthand from the mount Victoria lookout you must visit the tape hopper museum and from Wellington is where you catch the ferry to the South Island it takes three hours and you arrive in picton and now Abel Tasman is supposedly the sunniest place in New Zealand I recommend staying in Kai territory the beaches are beautiful it is the best place to go kayaking specifically to Apple Brook which image is often used as like a poster for New Zealand you can also do the abel tasman coast track which is one of the easier great walks and amazing if you like secluded beaches and in the middle here near rotorua you have nelson lakes national park if you would like to get the picture-perfect shot that everyone seems to get in new zealand that is taken here at Lake Rotoiti and if you get the chance to head east over here kaikoura is one of my favourite places in the country over there you can go whale watching you can go swimming with wild dolphins there's also a really cool seal colony where you get up and personal with the seals and it's so cool now not everyone says that christchurch is their favourite place but there are some really cool spots the of my time in christchurch was staying at the jailhouse accommodation eating sc1 espresso and walking through the Britannic gardens but a little than that I'd recommend keeping your stay to a minimum unless you need to be there for some other reason D touring through Arthur's past is definitely worth it for ridiculous driving scenery particularly this stop at Cave Stream scenic reserve and Devil's Punchbowl falls and then over on the west coast you must stop at franz josef to hop on a helicopter and hike on the clay see an incredibly unique experience but in franz josef glacier is much closer to ground level which makes it a lot more accessible and over in fox glacier it's worth stopping at lake matheson for the famous reflecting lake heading over to mount cook or our rocky is the highest mountain in new zealand not many people climb the actual mountain but hiking around the mount cook village pass lake pukaki is extremely popular our favorite was the hooker valley trek which is just a three hour return and Monica I think of a mini queenstown chilled backpacker lakeside town with some dreamy hikes my favorite is Rob Rhodes Glacia tree and Roy's peak is incredibly popular too and then we have my beloved Queenstown where there's just endless amounts of beauty and activities which I've made whole videos about so I will link them up here and down below now to get to milford sound takes four and a half hours from queenstown to drive because the only road goes all the way around here via Taiana or you could hike from glenorchy to milford sound via the routeburn track which is one of the great walks but it takes a few days all from queenstown you can fly there or you can heli there and milford sound is commonly known as the eighth wonder of the world it's an absolutely unbelievable sight and you can do cruises or kayaking there and there's actually a bunch of brilliant New Zealand walks across the Adlon National Park there's the Milford Track we did the kepler track you can find all information about New Zealand hikes and walks on the Department of Conservation website which I will below and lastly we have the cat Burns National Park which has the most beautiful waterfalls in different spots and lots of other quirky natural sites such as nugget point now obviously it's not essential to visit all of these hotspots in one road trip a lot of people might like to do just the north island or just the South Island New Zealand is also not limited to just the spot to give you a bit of time perspective it took us a whole month to visit 90% of these places spending around one to two days in dee and I know a lot of people don't have time to take a whole month off work so I think concentrating on specific areas at a time can work really well after all I know very few people who only visit New Zealand once in their lifetime you go you fall in love with it and you go back it's as simple as this video is not sponsored but I highly recommend a website I found called route exile common basically allows you to put in a start and an end point and any points in between and it will calculate the fastest route for you to go so if you don't fancy every single place that I've mentioned you can just type in the ones that you fancy and then work out your route from that consider doing a round trip just in the North Island to and from Auckland consider driving from Auckland to Wellington and then flying back or driving from Queenstown up to Auckland and flying back down that's what we I have a playlist of the travel vlogs from our New Zealand roadtrip which I will link below if you want any more details on any of the places that I've mentioned and I'll also link below any other New Zealand tips and advice videos that I have done and any other online resources that I can find for travelling New Zealand so I definitely check their description box below for more information on pretty much everything I do enjoyed this video and found it useful and I will see you in the next one bye [Music]
