hey guys what's up it's eli welcome back to my channel uh just to recap for those of you who are joining for the first time and those who are coming back i appreciate it um i started taking t in 2017 i was born as a female so i'm female demel and we're going to talk a little bit about some questions our friends and family have had for me transitioning my wife is going to be joining us a little later in the conversation so you're going to hear a voice in the background and with that said if you guys have questions or anything you guys want to know please drop a comment below and we'll make sure to address it and bring it up on another video you a little recap on me i knew things were different back when i was young and it was the whole transition that you know little girls can't run around topless with you know little boys you can't play with gi joes anymore you gotta play with barbies um just didn't feel right and same thing in junior high friends start dating guys i'm more interested in girls so for the majority of my life i identified as a lesbian because i knew i was attracted to females um i started taking t when i was right before my 34th birthday i've been asked why i waited so long uh it had to do with family just and security within myself to know my family would be there still the fear of coming out and being rejected i did try to come out as trans in high school as well as in my mid-20s so you know when i finally did things were just right i reached a certain point in my life i loved myself enough that if i did lose my family or friends i was gonna be okay because i prepped myself for that i'm very fortunate that i didn't lose really that much family um friends not so much how was it with my parents my father he loves me regardless you know he accepts me for me his concern is safety it's always been like that and it's one of those things we got to remember when our parents were growing up how that climate was and that's how they gonna reflect on us and our safety so um my my mom terry she was very supportive my mom anna not so much she's still having a very hard time um grasping she keeps thinking and hoping i will change my mind and that's another topic that we can talk about as far as family and friends have to have time to grieve and i know it sounds weird because you're like hey i'm still here i'm not dead but when you come out as who you are who you felt you are you got to understand people view to you as this person now you're this person even though mentally your core of who you are has not changed the way the perspective of who you are and the way people view you is changing and that's why parents normally they call the grieving phase so be aware of that if you are thinking about transitioning um you know coming out and transitioning later in life was actually i think hindsight a good thing for me um because it allowed me to make sure and to get to a solid place within myself to love myself and be myself and live my truth so it's going to go to some questions that we've had from family and friends uh what was the first change in your body that you saw once you started on t uh felt was energetic um noticed was more so my voice burst cracking um especially when i got excited it would crack and then hair facial hair is unfortunately coming last i think it's you know one of those things you want it so bad you gotta wait for it so next question at what point was the determining factor that you would uh follow through with the t for me it was um just wanting to be me when i came to that point in life that i didn't want to go one more day not being me and so you know there is a process and there's a proper process to go through for a reason you're gonna go through your physician they're going to refer you to a psych doctor the psych doctor is going to have some questions and a test for you a verbal test it's nothing crazy it's just them making sure you're ready for this transition because there are things with taking t that you can't change once you start so what i mean by that is you can take t say for a year and be like hey i don't want to do this anymore your voice will not go back you will have hair this hair will not go away so that's you know something to take into account and that's why they want you to go through these steps so they can discuss this in detail with you next question were you self-conscious of your appearance in public before after and currently yes um in the beginning i was very self-conscious of being called out um you know not being perceived as a male and during that very beginning transition it was very awkward and for me kind of scary because i went from being able to utilize the female nutrient which i was used to and i had to wait to that awkward point to be able to go to the mill the tree so the final let me know that hey i was there was i went into a female atrium one day and some people's got a little apprehensive they're like hey the other bathroom so i'm like oh my bad and i went to the other bathroom and from that point forward i utilized that bathroom sometimes i did get some scared uh stairs like from the guys like hey you're in the wrong one i'm like no i'm in the right one my philosophy was i felt safer going to the mail bathroom then the female reason for that is if there was a female and their spouse was on the outside and felt like i was going into the wrong bathroom they can be apprehensive as well as the female in the bathroom so again i felt safer and more myself going into the dollar tree um i still get like for me my beard is what i've been waiting for i feel more like myself my wife helps me notice when i'm not conscious of my voice because sometimes when i talk it does go a little higher um so with your voice you will have to work on that uh the tea can only do so much as far as deepening your voice so that's something that's always on my mind as well as gestures body language so i hope that answered that question in your previous relationships when you were when you started t did you tell that person went off the bat or did you wait to a certain point in your relationship to uh let them know that you were transgender from the get-go um i firmly believe in laying everything out on the table in the beginning um but that to me goes with any relationships expectations um what you want from life who you are where you want to go that's just me everything comes out on the table in the beginning all right well thank you so much for tuning in um please come back please comment if
