fees after completing the power to arrest and weapons of mass destruction lessons after passing the module to final examination and completing the section one feedback the student is eligible to submit his or her paperwork to the Bureau of security and investigative services this paperwork is a critical requirement in obtaining the security-guard license or guard card the guard card is issued by the state of California not the training facility the student is emailed three PDF documents the business day after he or she completes the required coursework if the forms are not received in the expected time frame be certain to check all email spam folders in case the message was accidentally caught by any filters the three documents are a certificate of completion the application for security guard or patrol person and the request for Live Scan service form the certificate of completion is yours to keep in your training records it can also be shown to employers or potential employers to demonstrate that the first eight hours of training was completed this certificate is not a guard guard and is not sufficient to begin work as a security guard the next forum is the application for security guard or patrol person much of this information has been prefilled for you from information submitted in the online program print this form and complete the following sections the live scan operator a copy for the BSIs which is sent in with your application and a copy for your personal records Live Scan fees are paid to the live scan operator there's a Department of Justice fingerprint processing fee of thirty two dollars there's an FBI fingerprint processing fee of seventeen dollars this totals forty nine dollars now in addition there is also a processing service fee that varies every processing operator charges a different fee you must visit a live scan service provider in person to have your fingerprints taken and submitted be certain to bring current and valid photo identification a listing of Live Scan service providers can be found on the BSIs website at the URL shown the page has a search feature to narrow the results to providers in your area once the forms are completed the final step is to mail all the forms and fees to the state the package must include a copy of the completed and signed live scan form the completed and signed guard application form the guard application fee of $50 which is a check or money order now do not include the application fee if you already paid online the BS is normally takes between four to six weeks to process new applications applicants can check the status of their application online at the URL provided on the screen once the bureau has processed the application the cleared security guard will appear on the bureau's website the name of the applicant with the guard card number will usually appear on the website before the physical card arrives in the mail a printout of the results page can be used to verify that the applicant was approved if your name does not appear in the search results it means either that the state has not processed a replication yet or that there was some problem with your submission if there was a problem with your application or payment you'll receive a letter with an explanation or request for additional information in the mail from the BSIs and finally mail the
