[Music] [Music] [Music] hi I'm Cathy Morton in the volunteer office and I'm here today to talk about the summer teen program and as you can see behind me I have teenagers that are washing cars we assigned forward today to get cars washed for our residents this would be my fourth year volunteering here occasionally I would help in the church my mother works here in Avalon pavilion and I came here when I was younger to the CDC and from when I was eight years old until I wasn't allowed to go there anymore I was in the daycare and then once I was old enough to I came and volunteered here I love it very much it's um very fun to do over the summer and it's nice to interact with residents we have 31 teenagers this summer and I'm lucky to say that eighteen of them returned from last year so there's many activities going on exercise and bingo and and the theater and some are working out with horticulture out with Kathleen on the ground I like working my hands I like making things we're fixing the nature trail the water washes away the trail and these huge ruts in the travel it's not safe to resident it's nice thing to have our some help again I really help us to make them work done well I like to think you'll save being here today and most of the time when you have our fish census you can come here anyway the people are very nice and if you need some if you need to volunteer you should definitely come here they're very very nicely it's great to have the young people to see young people and be with young people this little lady she said oh I just love her volunteer she she's an older lady and I think she does have vision troubles and getting around so they get some mail and taking some and I had never thought that I did that food so that's another good thing I love seeing I like the familiar faces because I've been here since childcare like 12 weeks old so I love being able to see the resident I love going back to the community and it's just a special place here and I love going back and saying hi to the teachers and seeing all the little kids that will be here and maybe in the long pier system what we found is that our residents really enjoy young people they like to find out where they go to school and if there's any ties to Westminster Canterbury so sitting down and having a friendly visit with the residents is so important to them they're also in childcare so they're working with the children how teenagers are so it's many generations that they work with and it seems to be enjoyed by any age one of my residents that I visit a lot she has a lot of interesting stories about her life and life's very much entertaining to hear about she's gone through a lot and she's been through a lot and she's gotten through it and she has all these cool stories itself and all the residents here have something to tell you about and talk about and it's great to hear from them and learn new things and hear about their experiences [Music]
