Marine pull-up record right it's one of my most popular videos on my channel a lot of you guys were like you did not beat the Marine pullet record because I did I'm thinking around 28 29 pull-ups and you guys know I was also in Air Force ROTC but that is besides the point what I want to tell you guys is that today I'm with somebody who has actually beaten the pull-up record before like a world record right and also he just happens to be a Marine you probably see him all across social media and with that being said we're gonna get a workout with him today and also learn a little bit more about him so without further ado let's go man of the hour what's up man how you doing I'm doing good alright so go ahead and introduce yourself to the channel real quick let me know who you are what's up everybody I'm Michael Eckert United States Marine going to school for kinesiology nice and pull up master I know you guys like I said have seen the crazy videos of him doing this and a whole bunch of other stuff and you used to hold the world record in pull-ups so that's most done like in a row most in 60 seconds so it's like as many as you can do you can get off the bar it doesn't have to be consecutive but your time limits 60 seconds and how many was that first time I did I did fifty second time I did 58 58 pull-ups in a row guys I've never done more than 30 keep that in mind that's crazy that's crazy but we're at you know your place today you got a little outdoor workout session so let's take a quick tour just show me what's oh yeah this is uh this is my place man this is kind of my dojo a lot of this stuff I kind of got during that like downtime the quarantine yeah so I didn't have this but it was kind of like to mimic the gym gotcha gotcha so we got power rag that pull down well pull-up bar yeah there's one two three four five including yeah I got five pull-up boy and I saw something back there you're actually as a hobby you like to do rock climbing that's how you got to love your pole entrance right yeah I've been climbing for like 12 years okay so but but yeah I've competed on American Ninja Warrior twice and so I this actually used to be a big rock climbing wall to win like 13 feet back but I constructed it so kind of pair with the outdoor workout area okay so you go do your like weight training over there run over here do some like ninja stuff rock climbing stuff some grip stuff is basically a compound a pull-up bar compound with relevant like officially named it but on it like the arena you know okay and you build this yourself yeah okay sick that's creative that's creative so I'm thinking today we can do like a little bit of upper body workout stuff and maybe you can show me a little bit of the rock climbing stuff grip stuff and from there we just take it you know yeah sounds good and also at the same time I want to I'll learn a little bit more about you and kind of pick your brain with your training all right let's do it [Music] alright so we just got done with the warm-up that was a good warm-up right so now let's check out some of those rock climbing grip stuff man I'm not sure what you usually do but just show me what's up like so the way I designed this thing is to be a circuit so it's like a full circle right so basically we'll start here and you can choose whatever path you want you can go up to that you can use these orbs which is probably the most difficult part right here in here but the objective is to go all the way around so if you think about as a workout right we start out you can go pretty intense that's the reason we stay on the ledges and it's designed to get easier as you go along so I mean if you're if you're a rock because we go to the rock climbing holds over here you can still use the top of this which is easier but as you can see it goes from hard to like medium to easy cuz you know yeah and you do it basically as many times as you can now tell me how many times have you gotten around this thing like two and a half two and a half yeah nice alright let's get to it how about you show me first and then I'll try my best to do it alright alright I'm gonna get I'm gonna chalk Oh pick it up pick it up pick it up pick it up you see the dripping I'm sitting in my car and if kitty idea secured the bag I hit the bar you know she doesn't know how you go like spinning in a sinful fold cash money like 504 yeah yeah guys that's not only like pulling strength but a lot fingertips it's all fingertips and forearms exactly and that's something I don't train a lot you know the only training out really get through that is through weighted pull-ups indirectly that's crazy yeah pushing down like that it's all say nice man okay I need to work on that pass that's cool though on two and a half times I probably get it one and a half yeah but you wouldn't probably sacrifice your skin exactly around two and a half once you start getting lazy with it you start really smacking stuff and then where your skin starts to be sacrificed yeah all right next let's do something pull-ups off this stuff that's cool we can do some explosive stuff archers front levers whatever [Music] keep the same energy working being better 170 the chip is just a water spring you know I tripped different it's the seven seas I do a life different mix of lemon squeeze winner for my style and identity better bounce back and get the cheddar cheese I guess that's what he me [Music] I got his band like I'm Barry Bonds running through the money but the money's long I don't love it but I need to keep it coming on only felling me and friends we don't get along I put that on my name [Music] [Music] alright so we just got done doing some vertical pools which included some explosive pull-ups and of course my all-time favorite weighted pull-ups now just other day we're doing some weighted pull-ups in the gym and you given your background rock climbing knot and all that do you find doing weighted pull-ups has helped you like do what you do you kind of supplement it or what Oh 100% I said I mean I crown the pull-up I mean I'm gonna pull up guide - I found the pull-up is the number one upper body exercise like if you master that pretty much everything grip strength everything else in the gym kind of falls into place do you supplement what weighted pull-ups or do you specifically try to get stronger at weighted pull-ups to get better at your stuff it's kind of what I like every single way do do weighted sort of like you rarely do them cuz you're very strong at them - yeah and I mean as we talked about the other day I don't necessarily specifically train weighted pull-ups like to get stronger at weighted pull-ups but in any strength gaining like protocol you're gonna have to up the weight you're gonna have to up the rep well you don't have to necessarily up the reps but if you want to gain strength again add up through weight and then how intense you are with like the 3 to 5 rep range if I want to progress in and weighted pull-ups I'm gonna have to do that so exactly but given we were in the gym the other day and Mike was doing four or five reps of three plates which is one 135 weighted pull-ups and in corner him he hasn't done them in four months and a lot of time so that goes to show I guess to carry over between you know all this rock climbing and bodyweight strength that you have - weighted pull-ups and vice-versa to me training weighted pull-ups and to carry over to some of the descriptions for rock climbing stuff so and speaking about grip strength let's finish off the workout doing some farmers walk with those kettlebells yeah the Deathwalker ice we call it once around the block okay yeah my forearms need some work look bring your farm up I'm not sure if you can tell but look how skinny mines is compared to his my biceps though another level but alright let's do it [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] hi guys so that was an awesome workout day
