ok hello matt hudson here in this video i'm going to show you how i go about identifying zip codes for a target market direct mail campaign so the purpose is to identify the zip codes that we want to use later as we develop our list but the first step is identify the geography the areas we want to target and we do that by identifying the zip codes so what I like to do is go to google type in zip code map and you know there's a few few to choose from you know play around with which one you like best this this one's the one I've been using lately United States zip codes org and it pops right up based on my location I'm in Jupiter Florida so I'm going to be looking at Jupiter Florida and Palm Beach Gardens Florida so you can see it's color-coded by the zip code with the corresponding numbers there so the next thing I want to do is open up a excel spreadsheet and label it Jupiter zip codes and then I want to start typing in the zip codes that I want to use I may not always want to use every ZIP code in a city that's why I pope the map first I may just want to do everything east of 95 where we are I may want to go and do out Wes it depends on what I'm offering what my services where I live etc so that's why I use the map to start so all right 3 3 4 5 8 i'm just going to do a couple here you get the point and you know add all the ones that work for you if you want to do neighboring cities you can sometimes I'll just separate them though so i'll have them for my records later because the great thing is what you do this once then you have your reference list and you can mix and match and refer to them later so we'll do one palm beach gardens 33 403 all right so now what I like to do and you can do this in either order it doesn't matter but i like to do both as i go to united states postal service i go to their home page and i look up look up a zip code and then i type in the city that i want to look for and the state and here we go click find and it will show me how many zip codes now in some cities you might have 10 or 12 zip code so it helps to make sure you didn't miss one you can cross-reference it to the map and narrow down your list once you have everything set up on your list you know save your spreadsheet and we'll use that later as we are identifying you know the exact addresses and the names and of who we want to mail our campaign to so this is the first step I hope you found this useful matt hudson here with green industry innovators if you have any questions about this or anything else contact me directly I respond to all emails personally thank you and see it the next video
