welcome to the uc santa barbara applicant portal tutorial here is what you need to know to access your ucsb applicant portal where can you find the portal you can find it through a direct link on the ucsb admissions homepage admissions.ucsb.edu you'll see the gold box on the upper right hand side of the screen and my status click there you can also find the portal by typing the url directly into a web browser admissions.ucsb.edu forward slash applicant portal when you access the portal for the first time you'll need to create an account see the blue button on the left hand side of the screen click it this process will have you verify who you are as a ucsb applicant and also ask you to create your ucsb portal password let me show you what it looks like you'll have a new tab that's created there are four steps that must be completed in order for you to access the portal for verification step one you'll need to enter your ucsb perm number or your application id number only one is required please do not enter both the ucsb perm number was emailed to you in an application confirmation these emails are going out on a rolling basis through the end of december and even into the early parts of january the email that you see on the screen will include two steps step one is inclusive of your ucsb seven digit perm number this number is unique to you please don't post it or share it with others back to the portal and instructions step two is that you'll enter your date of birth as listed in a month day year format the example that you see on the screen is february 11 2003 you'll click fall 2021 from the drop down menu as the applicant porter and then you'll find the last step is to type in the captcha information that you see on the screen and press submit verification is important to us it's also important to you we ask you to create a set of questions and to answer a set of questions that have been downloaded directly from the uc application place of birth permanent city and last school attended are going to be drop down menus select the answer that was reported by you in the uc application when it comes to ssn that stands for social security number students could have entered a social security number an itin number which stands for individual tax identification number or daca social number if you had any of those listed in the application add the last four digits here if you left it blank in the uc application mark four zeros finally our international students this question will be grayed out for you as social security was not an option are you getting error messages red text will show you where you're making mistakes we want to remind you that the questions are being downloaded from your uc application the best course of action is to open the application and verify the information that was submitted after you've verified your application questions you will need to create security questions this will help you should you forget your password and you need to reset it remember we don't keep track of these responses the last step is to create your password we need you to see the password requirements posted on the screen keep track of the password as ucsb admissions officers will not be able to access this information and share it with you all right you finished setting up your account now let's go back and log in from here on out you can log in and out as many times as you'd like to using again your uc application id number or your ucsb perm number one or the other but not both you'll select fall 2021 from the drop down menu for quarter and then type in your password finally click log in you're in your ucsb applicant portal will give you a summary of the major choice that you selected in the uc application it'll showcase your perm number that's hidden at the moment under the i icon and it will showcase a menu bar that will give you information one is a message tab where we'll post admissions decisions in the spring another is the test score tab the test score tab is going to be showcasing test scores that you self-reported into the uc application the test score tab will show you scores but please note the university of california does not use sat or act exams in the admission selection process for freshman applicants as such you will not see the scores in the portal and the admission staff won't see them when reading your application you can verify the other scores that you reported in the application here this is inclusive of ap ib those english proficiency exams like toefl ielts or duolingo while the scores are showing as missing at the moment this is not an action item we do not require test scores at this time the third tab is a transcripts tab this reflects the schools that you listed in the uc application as having attended just make sure that they reflect the schools that you attended this is not an action item we do not require or request transcripts of our applicants at this time you can ignore it for now the final tab is going to be a personal information tab here you can see your information from your phone number and text authorization to your mailing address if you've
