Create countersignature test

now that you've learned the basics of a Google classroom in kind of the different parts that go into it I'm going to talk about how to create a test that will eventually grade itself and one of the biggest concerns of teachers is the fact that we don't have enough time and so this is one of those little time savers Pat is great about classroom I'm gonna start right here on Google if you always go right up here to Foursquare this is where you can get to a lot of your Google Apps Docs sheets slides and Drive I'm going to start with Drive it's going to kind of take us into this space think of Drive like a big filing cabinet that used to haul around now it's digital and these are all file folders they even have the little symbol there for it but we're going to use you're going to this to create your test what you use to create a test is a form so if you'll go to new and scroll on down you're going to go past Docs sheets and slides Docs is comparable to Microsoft Word sheets would be Excel slides as PowerPoint and you're going to click more and then right here to the purple little box that says Google Forms once this opens up this is the blank space to create a test and the first thing you want to do right here where it says untitled form you want to give it a name so we will call this teacher practice a test and the description is showing mastery of creating a test on Google Forms that's supposed to say test okay I'm going to show you a couple different things if you notice right here a teacher practice test it automatically saved it right here and it'll tell you it is saving everything in your drive no more of that save early save often that we've always been doing this automatically does it for you the next thing we talk about is this right here this is your color palette if you're wanting to change colors of your text this is the purple so you can see and change it to that purple if that matters to change it to whatever you like I'm just going to stick with the dark blue this is a preview once you start getting some test questions created I'm sorry and you'll preview it to see if there's needs major changes you want to make your Settings button is who's going to be able to respond and this has anyone in would Republic schools you can automatically collect their student user name the problem with this and our situation is that it's their ID number and I don't know about you but I don't have my students ID numbers memorized so I'm not clicking that in that they can only submit one response I don't choose that in case the student accidentally submits their test without meaning to but so but it's up to you if you only want them to be able to do this test one time no matter what then go ahead and click right there and that's just kind of what you'll be right there um but we're going to undo that right now if you want to give them a message once they're done uh congrats congratulations you did it something like that you sure can do that if you want to leave a blank you can um then you go right on here just safe those things are automatically done now here on the side this is how you add a test or had a question this right here will going to give you another set of instructions so if part of your test is going to be multiple choice and then the next part is going to be a paragraph then you may want to put in another section of title to tell them that that's what's happening if you want to add an image this is really good for geography teachers history teachers who need to see a picture of a map or anything like that where they need to upload a picture you can do that right here this right here is YouTube videos you can add video links or video clips to your test and a student can answer questions based off of that test this right here is just adding another section so if you wanted to break it up to different areas you can do that and so you kind of get the basics there's not a lot if you hover kind of like I did with my mouse right here it'll tell you what each space does I'm going to show you now on creating questions right here once you click on this area it gives you a little drop-down menu right here you can do short answer paragraph multiple choice checkboxes drop-down you also have linear scale in multiple choice grid those are more math things I haven't messed with math a lot so that would definitely be learning here for me I always do my first question as their name and all you do is type name there make that a required question they have to do that next thing you want to do hit that right there if you want to give them a hint for some reason they don't know the row name you can do that and data validation is a new thing where you can say number greater than less than it's kind of a math thing so if that is something that you're interested in you've got that there when you're ready to add your next question you just click add a question and so we will come up with question 1 and you have your options here you do not have to number the questions if that's something important to you you can sure to do that and you can do it like one and who was the first president of the u.s. question mark tap right here give your options up Benjamin Damon Franklin clash one and add another option George Washington click right here start typing should okay goog I'm you can add as many as you want if you want to do it that way and then you're just going to keep on going down further and further and what you'll do is if you want to change your test section if you want to make a paragraph and this gives them space to do that if you are wanting to do another question very similar to this and didn't want to type the whole thing again this right here is a duplicate and if you click that it completely duplicates that question so if you just need to change that three and then favorite um high school memory you have that option if you totally don't like that question right here's a delete button again if you hover over it it will it will tell you what the buttons do once you're finished you just come over here scroll back up remember the eye right here is preview just click on that preview button it is going to give you a preview of your test looks a lot like that it is a required question right here it's star the students will not be able to turn the test in until they have an answer it's really important to have their name on it and you'll see that when we go on to the next video about grading the test and but this is what the student will see and then you hit submit and their test is done the great thing about this right up here if you want to go back and practice on work on it a little bit again it just opens another document up this is this is pretty cool as far as being simple and easy to create so when you're ready to submit a test you hit Send and it's asking you what you want to do with it you can create a link you can embed it if you want to do that you can email it um the great thing about this and we're going to get out of this is there's two different ways you can actually use the link and post it in your Google classroom if you shorten the URL the firewall at our school will not recognize it and it will not let you open it so if you're going to do it with the link you're just going to go ahead right here and click copy okay and it was clapping get out of there go right up here to our classroom and we are going to just go first our because there right there and you will go right over here to that create an assignment practice and right here is your link and you will just paste it Oh apparently I didn't get copied sorry about that there we go make sure you click Add it'll give you a little generation error it generated a little preview picture here when you're done it's saving it and if you want to make sure that that's the link it will pull you right back up to the dist and that's what it looks like go ahead and if you need to change the due date you have that you can do due date if you want to you can create a time if you want to make sure that all your students are done at specific times by the end of the class they can't do it after they leave you would change that stuff right here click Save and then you would assign that to them I'll just show you my students probably freaked out some something dings on their iPad and this is what it looks like teacher practice test Google Forms tells you when they're due and as the students searching them in this right here will obviously go up and this will go down so that is how you create a test on Google classroom
