hello and welcome to the channel today's video tutorial I'm going to be showing you how to make your very own gender icon to represent an express the gender you identify as so to begin with I'm just going to show you this is kind of what I mean here this is the male and female here but like you can do it with your own twist which is going to be what we're doing today so to begin with you could go down into the description below you can grab the photoshop trial version from the adobe website which i've linked and you'll have that for seven days if ya just go ahead download install that if you want it for more than seven days just go through the same process but when you're done type up Photoshop here right click it open file location and then it'll bring you here right click it again open file location and then you're here said then download this file from the description it's called AMC lib do I'll just take that throw it into your replace the file into the destination and continue so once that's done what you will have done is made made it so that you'll have photoshop free for life because you know who wants to support filthy hook-nosed developers because expressing yourself as much more important than that so once you're done just go ahead and open Photoshop here and I'm going to be showing you my own tips and tricks and how I would go about doing this so that is done so depending on what version well I guess you'll have CC so just click file here hit new uh you can name it whatever you want i'm just going to name it for example loops in the name it I have cancer ok so I think this is inches by default right here just click it into pixels I like the larger size you kind of want to be a square so 1000 x 1000 works for me that's a pretty big square so and then from there you want it transparent or white either or works but transparent is probably better in this case so just hit OK and now you have your square so to begin with you can just normally this is the rectangle tool just go into the rectangle tool right click it it's a ellipse tool and then while holding wool okay so go into here you don't want it to be a full filled circle so just hit transparent for the Phil which is the red line through the white it's kind of a like on that and then from there just you kind of want to be a thicker circle so for me 30 pixels worked out you can kind of just do a test for a second and see how thick it's going to be but for me that works out and you can hit ctrl Z to get rid of that so just experiment a bit so then for your main circle just hold shift and drag your circle in and I'm just gonna go like that and then you're done you could move it around depending on where you want the other bits of the icon to go so I'm going to move it down a bit like so and then from there I'm going to kind of copy the mail icon so normally this is the brush tool appear just right-click the brush tool hips pencil tool click and then rasterize it'll-it'll get the option to so the option to sorry and so then you want the just right click this and you want it to be the same size as the circles so 30 pixels is why i set the circle to so that's when we set this to and then you could click after you clicked hold shift and then click again where you want the end of one end of the line to be so i'll create a line for you that works out for me and then just go wild you can create whatever kind of thing you want i'm gonna show you an example of me making this oh yeah hold shift while making these lines so that will make them straight and you want them straight well you might want them straight just whatever you want it's just a little tip though so then just go ahead and create what represents you what you feel represents you I think one a personal fan of architecture so i think that is windmill really expresses me i'm just me you know make a windmill there in by the way this color you could make it i forgot to tell you you can make this color like if you want a solid color just feel like whatever if you want to add an image i'm going to show you how to do that but before then i'm going to show you personal little twist i like to do so i like to add an image into here so like for example like you could express yourself forever with politics so for like another example you could just like if you're a Bernie supporter if you want communism in America throw Bernie's face in there if you're a Hillary Clinton supporter you could if you know you want women to be brought to a god-like status and men to be the slave workers in society you could put her face in there if you want well if you really dislike Mexican and think they're ruining the u.s. you could put Trump space in there see how it represents you very well so for example I'm going to be using Hillary Clinton's face I'm just going to okay I'm going to pull my browser over here I'm going to search up Hillary Clinton face for example you could do whatever you want this is just an example for the tutorial just a little twist i like to do so then once that's loaded just save image as all right cool then just that downloaded image just pull it right into there and you want it hold shift while doing this to keep the correct size and you want to be the general height or length of the circle and you could change it up a bit so you want to fit inside the circles what I'm saying so you can just go like that until it fits and it's about right I think that kind of works yeah I'm just gonna go with that so right click it hit place and then from there you want to bring it to the bottom so just to go over here and pull it down it was normally like that just pull it down like that and you can move it around a bit if it's not perfectly on the circle so I'm going to do that and then just take your eraser tool and rasterize it just reser eyes it by clicking get rid of the sides because that doesn't look very good you can hit ctrl Z to undo if it isn't how you like it if you mess up a bit so then they're done with that part and you could even add your own little twist there so I'm just gonna take the pencil tool I'm going to make it a bit smaller and I'm gonna give her a little mustache yeah remember just ctrl Z to undo okay cool and I think that looks pretty good so far and then now i'm going to be showing you how to add an image instead of just a solid color for the actual icon so i'm going to go back in here for example i'm going to be using a flag all right images 0 that yeah this year ok save image as I think this expresses me very very well and you want it to fit over all of the color that you have you could even rotate it a bit if you want to make it like diagonal and so once that's done right click it place it bring it to the top the very top and then do that okay once you're done with that just hit the layer button up here and then go down to create clipping mask just click that and there you have it that's my little tutorial some tips
