module 6 in this exercise I want to show you how to use conditional formatting to automatically color of these MLT dates either red amber or green depending on whether they're not you getting close to VIN due or overdue I've got a formula in cell a1 which is the function today which is the computer clock the computer clock is always moving forward like any clock would be these dates are going to be looking at this clock and flagging up depending on the crotchet I set in conditional formatting so first of all I need to highlight the dates then conditional formatting manage rules and new rule first one is going to be the second or down at the top for Motley cells that contain greater than clicking into the bottom the right clicking on the date in cell a1 and then I'm going to doing plus 30 and format that to green anything 30 days away is ok green second one same thing again greater than again click on the box on the right click on the date this time it's going to be plus 15 anything 15 days away is getting a bit dodgy for a number and then the last one is going to be read where we've missed it less than or equal to a1 plus 15 it they're always the same plus 15 but ones greater than once less than format read on this case ok there's my three rules I do need to change the order around because the green one needs to go to the top and the yellow one needs to be in the middle because of the case it does this one first if it's true it colors it green its fourth it a look at the next one and so on click OK to that and you can see I've got a mixture of colors there so the top one is overdue the second one is due so hopefully I will fix this one by booking it in and type the right dates booking it in and then changing the date and it will go green and that's a very quick way of how you can use conditional formatting with the date function on the Today function
