hey guys it's your girl cherish from the Motley News and I'm super shiny for one thing and a little tired I've had a rough day I taught at school school is a thing that's still happening and their semesters like only three weeks and it's already feeling rough for some reason but I'm updating you guys after so long with good news because I did something reckless and I wanted to share with you what I did after NaNoWriMo I wrote the thing that happened and then I did like a once through editing round very light stuff some structural changes grammatical stuff to the best of my abilities but nobody can really edit their own book I think it's impossible and then I was like you know what maybe I should try something fun like youtuber writer Natalia lei suggests she actually goes to this website called create space.com and she orders a proof of her own book and she goes through line by line page by page just editing and making annotations and I thought let me try that out so that's what I did I uploaded the last edit rounds of my manuscript slapped a cover on it I made like a really janky cover using canva.com I'm not really good at like graphic design I like just dragging and clicking and you know crazy transparency and filters that's about it as complicated as I get but I actually put together a book it was really easy they review it for 24 hours and then they let you either download the PDF proof to look over or you can order copies and that's what I did so with 200 pages in a paperback book that cost me 395 per copy and then they you pay for shipping of course so I ordered five copies of this damn thing and they showed up today woohoo I opened the box and I took a look at them and I'll tell you what I think this is my book this is a book this is a stack of my books see they're a whole stack look at that I'm holding books in a tangible sense in my hand and I built this it's really exciting it's really exciting until you look at the mistakes that you made on the inside I'll tell you right off the bat there's no spine because I totally forgot about that there's no back you do have your own bar code with an ISBN number which is mandatory and that kind of sucks because if I didn't want to publish this I'm still in the system there's no frontmatter because I didn't think to do any title pages or dedications or anything like that so it's cover first page of the story there's some pages in the back like back matter like a couple pages that are blank and then it says proof so that's that I can tell you right off the bat there are problems with this that I'm gonna have to sort out on my own later this is extremely small print the font size is way small there's a ton of white space here like unnecessary white space that I need to figure out like how did how does that work and then the page numbers are just like a Microsoft Word document here's a page number and the gutter of the book and then on the outside that's not very helpful I might have to move if I can't figure out how to do on the outside I'm gonna have to move to the center and I don't usually I don't know if I read a ton of books with the page number centered like that but this is gonna be an interesting thing it'll be interesting to like annotate this text in this manner because I probably won't be able to get over the fact that I'm marking up somebody's book oh wait no it's my book and I'm gonna geek out over this a lot I'm also giving a few of these copies to my beta readers my two friends Drew and Sandy we've all got like a triangle editing thing going on and so we are sharing one another's manuscripts from NaNoWriMo and giving our feedback accordingly so they will get their own copy of this and hopefully it'll make it easier more mobile for them to do this instead of you know me sending them files every once in a while let's see what was I gonna say the cover here's the cover just do a little standstill here loving the right way this is an Irish love story by cherish Halliburton you guys be honest and upfront with me in the comment section if this weren't here an Irish love story would you be able to tell if this is in the romance genre like is this a romance novel because to me it looks like loving the right way seems a little self helpy seems a little instructional or something it has a very cold and not really romantic or funny or whimsical title and it was just a stance to stand in it was just like a placeholder until I could figure out what the title is and I still haven't figured it out I'm gonna work on it but yeah that's the title so far I first I was like loving her the right way and I think maybe the the right being WRI tem-8 Carney so I'm gonna figure it out anyway that's what's up I just wanted to show you my box of books and um I'll let you know how the editing process goes in the future and we'll see we'll see what kind of news I have for you school is kind of taking up a lot of my time and energy and every time I get home I feel really tired so it just might be the winter blues - it's a whole thing it's malaise and all that until next time you guys stay cool or stay warm until next time happy reading bye
