Decline sign order
tonight i completed a driving shift with my brother matt here in pittsburgh on ubereats and doordash now it was a short shift but what i was really noticing is we were declining a good amount of orders and that's actually a tool that you can use to make more money so i want to go over when you should decline when you should cancel orders when you're driving on these apps so again you can make the most money possible welcome to the channel my name is mike this channel is dedicated to your success in this gig economy the side hustle so if you are new here consider subscribing and for the very best accessories for any niche in this gig economy check out my amazon storefront that linked down below so again we're driving in pittsburgh pennsylvania it was a short shift from 5 45 pm until 7 pm now that is dinner time so let me know down below in the comments if that's a shift that you like to drive and i mentioned two apps ubereats and doordash one dollar peak pay on doordash and then we also have this quest bonus on ubreeds now this is interesting this is basically also another dollar extra for delivery you can see two dollars extra for two deliveries four dollars extra for four deliveries and so on now of course it's not an exceptional bonus but we'll take that because yes it can add into our totals but picking the best orders that's what's going to actually increase your dollars per hour so first order request here we're multi-app in we're driving on both apps at the same time and simply picking the best one for us this one from took took 98 13.49 for 3.1 miles so our key factors of the dollars to mile ratio the dollars to time ratio this one passes both of those tests so what am i getting paid for the miles driven right and then is this order gonna usually be a pretty seamless pickup and a drop-off and for when it comes to positioning is he going to leave me in a busy zone so for this one check check and check first order so as we're seeing order number two here from howley chinese food eight dollars for 3.1 miles i want to give you my first insight on when to decline order requests so with number one it's looking at restaurants because to be honest during this really it was a short shift we got slammed with chipotle requests and that was on both apps and it was single order requests and stacked order requests as well and we declined every single one of those because it passes test number one the dollars to mile ratio how much we paid for the miles driven but based on matt's experience here in pittsburgh with that chipotle it really fails the dollars to time ratio and let me know if you feel the same way in the comments but we had an order that proved to this just a couple of days ago and what i'm talking about is if you get order requests from that certain restaurant and they've proven time and time again that they're usually backed up with orders so when you're out there driving number one don't assume don't just say hey mike said chipotle orders are not worth it that's not what i'm saying you'll have to do the market research take a few of those orders whatever it is taco bell wendy's dominos whatever it is and just make mental notes if they're behind if they're slow because what you're gonna do as you drive more and more shifts in that marketplace then you'll know okay this taco bell in my central market they're never on their game there's usually a big backup in the drive-through it's not worth it and it really is that location specific because let's say you drive in a different marketplace and you pick up from that other taco bell that could be always on their game so this haole order it's a great order for positioning it's pulling us back up north into a segment where we want to be to accept new orders and we can see that we're in a busy zone again this is a great indicator that you're in the right area we got a stacked order this one from a restaurant that i'm not even going to try to pronounce for six dollars for an additional 3.9 miles another order based on our market expertise is we're getting the stacked order because it's in a busy zone with a lot of orders and where is it dropping off at in another busy area that's the goal so insight number two on when to decline or cancel orders i've talked about wait times at restaurant in fact let's tie this in to those chipotle orders that we declined so let's say that we accepted those orders and you get to that chipotle and they say hey it's not ready we got a bunch of orders ahead of you it's gonna probably be about 15 18 minutes that is the threshold where you should consider canceling in my opinion if a restaurant's telling you it's going to take longer than 10 minutes and 10 to 15 minutes is really that swing area but 15 minutes plus wait time that is when you should really in my opinion cancel that order unless you're in a completely dead marketplace unless it's your last order unless you really don't care unless it's headed in a direction that you want to head maybe home anyway other than all of that criteria it's not worth it because if you're following the best practices here on the channel you should already be in a busy zone that can get orders so instead of waiting there for 15 minutes you could already have another order request that'll actually have the order ready you can be on your way now that is a judgment call for you to make if you think it's faster to weights then weights especially if the payout is really good or if you think it's faster to cancel and to take a new order and you're confident that you'll still get good pay then do option two here's another great order that passes test number one and test number two for dollars to mile and dollars to time ratio china house at 10 and 16 cents for 3.5 miles maybe you're seeing a little bit of a trend here with payouts if you can if your marketplace is busy enough and you'll see this as you look at your trend analysis and your data if you can get double digit orders like this a ten dollar plus order that should be your target now at a very minimum i want you to go for seven dollar orders but based on your market if you can get consistent at 10 payouts raise at a bar and go for 10 orders and one more insight on when to decline orders simply put i would decline any order that doesn't make sense to you for your goals your earnings goals your positioning goals whatever it is because you need to remember that you're the one in charge as an independent contractor you have the freedom to make the call on the order request screen you need to be aware that as soon as you hit that accept button things change now you can decline potential order requests basically as much as you want you can't be deactivated from these platforms simply for declining orders but once you hit that accept button you start canceling orders you most certainly and you can be deactivated for canceling too many orders and in fact doordash says you need to complete 80 of your orders to avoid the potential for deactivation so tonight's shift in pittsburgh pennsylvania on that one dollar peak pay from doordash and we did see some boost in that central pittsburgh marketplace of about 1.4 tonight's shift was from 5 45 p.m until 7 p.m our total gross revenue from ubereats 25.65 plus 14. from doordash that grand total 39.65 and again a short power shift during that dinner time 31 dollars and 72 cents per hour during this time it was busy we completed five deliveries we did receive five tips as well and i gotta say matt really has the miles strategy down for the pittsburgh marketplace very important to look at is also minimizing your business miles tonight just 15.2 and based on our total earnings that equals a strong miles payout two dollars and 61 cents payout per mile and based on these miles matt gets a tax deduction of eight dollars and 63 cents so number one don't be afraid to decline orders because frankly we decline a good amount of them tonight but we're doing that to increase the overall earnings that we can see here number two if you are going to cancel do so strategically save those cancellations ideally for those one-off scenarios again if you have a restaurant that has an exceptionally long wait and at number three learn your marketplace and specifically the restaurants take mental notes if you're driving in different marketplaces or even if you're driving the same marketplace make the note of the restaurants that are wasting your time now if you got value in this video definitely drop me a like and you can also click or tap the screen now for my most recent video as well as a video recommended for you and i'll see in the next one
