hi my name is gordon and i'm the co-founder of gimeo which is a free email signature generator i've been making email signatures for a really long time and over the years i've seen people make so many mistakes when they're creating their email signatures in this video i want to cover dark mode and email signatures how does dark mode affect email signatures and how you can optimize your email signature to not only look great in light mode but also dark mode too but first what is dark mode well dark mode was first introduced by apple in 2018 and it was introduced in order to try and limit the amount of blue light exposure that people get which can be bad for your health which brings me on to the next question how does dark mode affect email signatures well dark mode can affect email signatures in a number of different ways one it'll change the text color that's in your email so if you have dark text it'll change it to light but that's not always the case i will explain a little bit more about that later on in the video when i show you how to optimize your email signature for dark mode the same thing can also be said for separators or borders it sort of behaves the same way as text so dark borders will often be changed into light color and the last part is that if you have an image or if you have multiple images in your email signature that don't have a transparent background you'll see the white uh background on that image because the rest of the email will be dark and you'll see the white background so it doesn't look really good in dark mode to have an image that's not transparent and i'll show you how to make your image transparent in the part where i show you how to optimize your email signature for dark mode before we get started though i want to run through a few quick tips with you um that's related to email signatures and dark mode so you get a better understanding of how dark mode affects email signatures which will help you optimize it later on so firstly dark mode is not controllable you can't control how dark mode works you can turn it on and off for your own email client but you can't turn it on and off for your recipient's email client which means you don't know whether your email signature is going to be shown in dark mode or light mode which means you have to have both versions of your email signature working correctly you also cannot use css media queries a lot of web designers use media queries in order to manipulate how styles are shown in certain circumstances you can't do that with email signatures unfortunately because when you paste your email signature into your email client the email client basically...
