welcome back to pj chain design this is pj today i would like to talk about the cage added command in the rhino 3d software and how to use it are you ready let's get started [Applause] before we get into the cage edit i would like to talk about what other way that you can manipulate the surface first to give you some basic idea for the differences for the control point compared to the cage edit that we have let's say i have a sphere right here and if i rebuild my sphere to get a lot more point let's say i wanted to have a 12 and 12 on both u and v direction and they are degree 3 and then we'll get something like this if i turn on the control point i can actually manipulate this one by pulling up and select certain point by pulling or i can rotate it or i can move it you know so this is a lot of things that you can do and it is only applied to the single surface what i mean is this one if you take a look on my property right here it's a closed surface so we can do control point and things like that once this is it's been manipulated and then let's say i'm going to have a block right here and this block is going to intersect with this and i'm going to do the boolean unit with them now if this one you take a look one more time it's a closed solid poly surface for my property which means it is has a multiple surface and that it joined together with no naked edges now if i want to turn on the control point here on my top it will say cannot turn on point for poly surface this is a really important things once you're turning into the poly surface you cannot use the control point unless you want to explode them and they become individual surface and with this one you can still turn on the control point and then you can still edit the problem is if you're adding the surface one by one you probably have a lot of a chance to get a naked edges something like this so in this case we will need to use a cage edit otherwise i prefer to keep it simple and then use control point to edit it so what is a cage edit can do this one it's from the text and it is closed extrusion you can simply to do a 1d scale 2d scale or 3d scale and that is what pretty much what you can do on the changing them now if you wanted to turn on a control point again it won't have you turning on it will give you just that one point it's because it's an extrusion so let's say we exploded and then we joined back together...
