many thanks to squarespace for sponsoring this week's video when you combine the fact that most people resist uncertainty and generally don't use things they don't understand plus the the name doesn't help things either by not really projecting a very i guess easy to comprehend vibe and when combined these are really the main culprits as to why this is the most underutilized tool within lightroom and is rarely spoken about and i get it it's just flat out confusing but in just a few minutes it'll all make sense and you can begin testing this i guess this powerful color enhancing tool out on your own landscape photos and i have a real quick demonstration i want to show you first so if i come up here to the the calibration section and drop it down and i'm going to come down here to the blue primary channel and this is really really interesting because in one slider we're going to completely transform this photo but it's not going to enhance the areas that you probably are anticipating it would so i'm going to come over here i'm going to take the saturation slider i'm going to bring it all the way down to negative 100 and all the way up to positive 100 and i'm just going to rock it back and forth and if you pay attention to the areas that are being impacted here it's pretty interesting because none of the areas that are being impacted are really blue and it's also adding a little bit of additional luminance it looks like it's almost like we're dodging and burning with color the the areas of highlights or the most interesting portions of this photograph are becoming a little bit brighter and the colors are becoming a little bit more rich but we're doing all this by using the the blue saturation slider which is really interesting so back and forth back and forth we've got another example right here this is an image from last week's video same thing blue saturation channel all the way down all the way up back and forth back and forth and if you just pay attention to those areas the areas that are being impacted the most are the areas that really don't appear to have any blue in it which is very very interesting so what's going on with this uh this wizardry what's really happening here and it's pretty interesting and it's very powerful once you fully understand what's happening here you know i've used this this tool for for quite a while now and for the first year or so i really didn't understand exactly what was happening but i loved what it was doing to my photographs i just didn't understand how it was doing it but once i really dug into the nuts and bolts it really not only do i enjoy this even more but it made me i guess embrace it or...
