[Music] all right thank you for tuning in to the real estate jam session for those of you that are thinking about becoming a commercial real estate brokerage or broker and you want to get an attendant rep i've got the best guy in los angeles michael arnold michael thank you for coming in thank you for having me he too is here at the crei summit uh commercial real estate influencer summit and i drug him in here because i know that he brings so much value to guys that are really thinking about getting a tenant broker so uh michael's with nai you've been there for five years now five years yeah and where were you before that i was at newmark for 12 and cbre for nine so i basically got the global experience right on what the big boys and big women are doing yeah um but got to use now more than a unique entrepreneurial platform right because nai's a network of companies as you know so basically it's using that national network but having a nice boutique feel okay perfect what uh what drew you to commercial brokerage insanity a little bit of both so i i started where my uh my mom actually was uh best friends with george kalas okay uh and i was actually overseas playing basketball a good time i came back and like a lot of ex-athletes tried to figure out what am i gonna do and where am i gonna go and she said hey are you interested in real estate i didn't know anything about real estate and george was running the western united states for cbre he said hey there's research and marketing you can start there okay and then if you're fortunate enough to do a good job then you're going to be able to maybe get a runnership right this is before the cb's wheel program event okay so i'm dating myself so i'm doing this 24 years now okay so start working at cbre great opportunity you know great company great platform yeah great platform great foundation building so as you talk about like a tenant rep perspective i had an opportunity to work with whitley collins who's the president and i went off hammers now i believe at jll i'm lieutenant advisory group while i was running and working for stan gerlock okay so having the experience to understand and learn what it meant to be a tenant rep within that platform was beyond anything i could contemplate i started my career at cbra it was their national office rookie of the year okay and people are like well what's that i was like i did 52 deals my first year you did 52 deals that's a deal a week i was fortunate enough and again this is not for those people starting in the business because this is not a good demonstration but i knew i knew how to refer business...
