I want to get into this so how this will work is I'm gonna run a PowerPoint so you won't have to look at me the whole line because it's nothing really to look at so you'll get to have a PowerPoint kind of read along with us and then I'll explain them as we go if you have questions I know that we have muted everybody so that we're not hearing I don't know how many people we got in this but quite a few I see there I'll hear anybody but if you need a question if you'll just hit on the chat Amy and Tamara here they'll be answering questions from the chat or they'll be feeding them to us and we can answer them as we go if we don't get all the questions answered Shannon who is our marketing person is she's going to create a video for us that will answer all these questions and we'll post it tomorrow all this will be recorded it will be posted on our Facebook page our YouTube channel and on our website so that if you have any other questions or need to come back to this you're more than luck soon and then again you can always email me so we're gonna go ahead and get started with our slide show you you again this is our parent informational for you all this covers all camps next next slide I've already introduced you to our team this is us coming up there are a total and then I didn't include that we do have Laurie and Janelle who must have you all talked to on the phone they are administrators they take all the reservations and things with that but this is how our camp runs for this year so what we're doing before we're talking a little bit can't I won't tell you where we're at now because I know we have been out of school since the 13th of March so inference cares has went ahead and open what we call our crisis care sites these are for people who have to go back to work our first responders our nurses our doctors and anybody really who had to go back to work is this a lag Shelby or just slow just so we actually currently offer six sites where it Brunson Elementary Curtis mill elementary Morgan elementary Spees Elementary Ashley and then we still serve downtown for our special needs children this has been going on since we were out of school and will go on until the Friday the 12th of June summer camp will start on the 15th so if you need care it is assist a flat fee of $20 per day we're open from 6:30 in the morning to 7:30 in the evening it does include breakfast lunch and dinner provided by the ones to some school system and of course we do afternoon snacks as well we have been working with homework and as you all know that your home with your children that has been a tough thing we're running about a staff ratio of one to four just because that homework time is something we do after we do afternoon enrichment times we have to Taekwondo gives us lessons we have some of our staff that have exotic pets Shelby teaches sign language class to our kids we have a workout with mats we do a bunch of social and emotional wellness lessons with the Health Alliance with our nurses from the school nurses and of course they have playtime so it's nothing that we're not stuck in school but they are pretty active all day long if you do need care I'm going to go ahead and put Lori's at the end you'll have Lori's information to contact her she will take care of that so with that we're gonna roll on to summer camp so summer camp we are offering summer camp at three different locations this year last year we had two this year we decided to open our third we have our Winston one our Winston two a Kernersville and we still have our icy downtown which is imprints Karis downtown camp this is for special needs kids only if you have a child with special needs this is where your child would come I'm going to be honest with you this presentation does not cover our special needs camps this will only cover our traditional camps if you need information on our specialties camp please refer to Lori Richards her name and information is at the end of this you can call the office that is by appointment only so you'll have to come in and you'll have to do a tour where we get to meet your children and stuff like that but if you have any questions for special-needs Lori Richards is the person you need to talk to this presentation is all about our traditional camps held at Winston's one two and Kernersville our locations Winston one is its South Fork elementary Winston - we'll be at Spees elementary and Kernersville will still be at Union cross now speeds and South Fork are new to us if you're new to us and that doesn't mean anything if you're been with us for a while we have from metal art to a little closer easier proximity for people to get to so we're it's self working Spees Fridays Fridays right now is still really up in the air as you know in the past we have not been allowed to be in the school system the schools on Friday they closed during the summer we are working with the schools to try to get us into the schools every Friday the problem is they haven't confirmed that with us our other problem is we've been in churches and other facilities on Fridays and all of them have closed to us because of the current conditions that were under so we will keep this is up-to-date as possible we met with them again today there's a good chance but we haven't confirmed anything the other thing we're working on school will start on the 17th so that last week when we're normally not allowed in the schools due to everything from teachers coming back to open houses we're normally not allowed in the schools again we have nowhere to go so we are working on making sure that we get that as soon as we know or so something is confirmed we will email it out email blast everybody who's signed up and let them know what's going on we want to be open every day that we possibly can for our parents that were we move on our operating hours first camp are the same as normal we'll be open 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. we're open every day except for the 3rd of July and the last day of camp which the 14th of August every other day we are open payments this year's camp went to 165 the there are some things that have been included in the camp this year and we'll go over those but if you have questions about payments of Billings if you've already got something and you've got questions this is Laurie Richards information again I will have this at the last slide and it will sit up there for a litany copy that information but she's the one if you have any camp questions or any billing questions or you need to register for either crisis care or summer camp Laurie is your lady that you need to talk to she is very busy so I would email her a caller in the mornings that works out the best for okay our summer camps the way we work our traditional summer camps is we break our kids down into two groups we call them teams the orange team and the blue team our orange team is our younger kids that is our rising kindergartners through our rising second graders our blue team is our rising litter graders who are rising sixth graders now we do this so that those two groups don't interact with each other throughout the day we keep them smaller kids to themselves we keep the larger kids to themselves they'd have different activities they don't socialize together they don't eat together they don't do snacks together we try to keep everything separate now our small teams are mean our orange team with the smaller kids the younger kids will have one group of rising kindergarteners that is a max of ten per group if you've dealt with our pre-k kindergartners you know why we kind of cap that at ten they're not used to this type of interaction and we keep these kids busy so we really want them to learn this year from what we're doing so we kind of capped that our first and second grade groups we have a maximum of 13 per group so there will be anywhere from two to five groups at each camp now our blue team because they're older we can have a little bit more but we do cap at fifteen we don't like to go over a one to fifteen ratio and summer camp there will be four groups at each camp so when you come to camp some things that what will you need and what we don't want didn't bring so our needs are will stop out clothes we need them to be comfortable shorts t-shirts again we're talking about school appropriate because we are in school so all school rules do apply so no spaghetti straps no tank tops of that nature but anything to take where to school that's comfortable shorts t-shirts great okay son dresses for the young ladies that's also wonderful to shoes are a big thing we prefer tennis shoes no flip-flops sandals or Footwear we do a lot of activities a lot of running playing games and they fall off or you're out in the grass you step on rocks tennis shoes are the easiest thing okay on water days which we do have our water day sometimes and we're trying to get the fire department or somewhere to come out and spray us with water but we have our own water games swimsuits we like those are we worn under the bathing or under your normal clothes the child's normal clothes because it's hard to make that change to get them in and change before we go out and do it they can bring flip-flops we don't want them to wear them but they can bring flipflops water shoes Crocs and put all this in a backpack towels and underwear I know that sounds unusual why do you want to pack underwear well for us young guys or older guys when we were are bathing suits sometimes we wear our underwear underneath our bathing suits so if you came to school that way and you got soaking wet and now you need to change out of your swimsuit and into clothes well I was wearing my underwear and now they're soaking wet so I don't have anything to put on so do you avoid that the easiest thing is just packing additional pairs so that we got put some dry ones I only get them out of their clothes put some dry clothes on the sinpo t-shirts everybody gets a camp t-shirt our camp t-shirts are the same as they were last year they're color-coordinated if they're on their orange team they get an orange shirt they're on the blue team they get a blue shirt we changed the logo a little bit last year because it said the same thing on both sides and half the kids wore the shirts backwards and didn't know it so now we know what the front and back is that we can fix them for them when they wear you get one free with your registration if you want an additional t-shirt you can pay $10 so it's just basically almost what our cost is and all you have to do is let Lori know and she'll fill that in on the registration and that'll be billed appropriately needs right now if we are in the schools on Fridays we need to bring a lunch other than that lunch and breakfast will be provided in all three camps every day except for Fridays even if we're in the schools on Fridays child nutrition will be off and they won't be able to serve us but there are other three two other four days they will provide breakfast a hot breakfast just like they do in the schools I'll go through the line get their breakfast and lunch every afternoon so this is one thing you don't have to do this year this is one of the things we've partnered with that kind of come off you have to worry about packing lunches if you do pack a lunch we ask that it not be something that has to be refrigerated or heat we don't have the resources to do that we only have one refrigerator and at schools we don't have any refrigerators we only have one for the downtown no paper or plastic bags preferably problem is paper well if anything's got moisture in it rips the tears everything goes all over the place plastic bags if they're not tired everything dumps out we don't know we prefer no soda or candy this just keeps the kids we'd like to stay as healthy as possible we do healthy snacks and so then kids southern candy just kind of puts everything off let's just in a bad light with the other kids who don't have it so we prefer that you don't track that it possible needs sunscreen it's been one of our big needs over the past couple years and we've learned from our experiences that number one it's a pain but we have to have it so this year we will provide all sunscreen that we need for summer camp parents don't need to keep restocking this to us and bringing it to us every week we will provide our own it will be part of your tuition except if your child needs a special sunscreens because they're allergic what we're gonna use is SPS fifty the spray-on kind we're going to spray the campers down but if your child and he has an allergy to sunscreen and you have to get your own then what we ask is that you bring it to camp it needs to be left account so that we can use it at any point if they're out in the Sun plane we prefer the sprayed because our staff has to apply it we don't let the kids apply it because they don't hit all the spots they need to so and it's hard for our staff to keep rubbing the lotion in if they're dealing with 12 to 15 kids they have to do their whole group the day you bring in our staff will label it we'll put a big label on it with your child's name and it will go under their team bag so it stays with that team that they're assigned to and once we get low one of our staff will notify you that it's low and that we need to add some other needs this is stuffy your child can bring but they don't have to a lot of kids bring their own water bottles they have to keep track of it we do prefer that they put their name on it if they want their personal snack they don't like the snacks that we're offering or the lunch or breakfast that is being offered by the school system then you can pack your own lunch that's great a book to read during that quiet time there's not a whole lot of quiet time during summer camp I'm gonna be honest there she'll be his book their days pretty big so they can bring a book because we do have a little bit of what downtown everyone so if they want to sit and read that's wonderful so those are things they can but not required what we don't want them to bring is any type of electronical device cell phones tablets gaming systems smartwatches okay we keep them busy my staff is paid to keep them extremely busy we don't need them to bring toys game trading cards or fidget spinners and I know this is probably an old slide from about three years ago fidget spinners aren't as big as the problem as they were about three years ago but we still have some kids that use them no money you have paid us when you come we do not need the kids to bring any money for any reason even if we do go on a field trip at one point they do not need any money sentimental values that can be anything I'm just going to tell you a quick story about one that we had about two years ago a little gentleman broke down and started screaming and crying because he lost his pet rock that he got from his grandfather that he had for many years and he lost it outside playing and this kid was devastated so that's the sentimental value all those things can stay at home they will not need them at camp jewelry for the girls they don't need to wear anything we don't want anything that could be lost broken taken by another stood there anything I'm gonna let as you all know we're in a different time and age for summer camp and for everything else that we're doing we are following CDC state local health department guidelines Oh Ashley has been in charge of all our stuff for our crisis care and she has been developing all our stuff for summer camp so I'm gonna turn it over to her and she will tell you all about the things that we are doing um hey everybody so this is Ashley just wanted to just first say that safety is our number one priority and we're doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our students and our staff um so some of the help added health and safety measures that we're currently doing that we're going to incorporate over into um summer camp are when you register for camp and if you haven't done so a part of that registration is you're going to be receiving a waiver and that is just you know a help flavor for us to to provide care for your student um all of our staff and all of our students all fill out this waiver um and so and that's that's pretty much all about that but um you'll get that in your registration packet when you sign up for camp um and then we're going to go over different things like our pickup procedures our health screening hand-washing and space sanitation um general safety and drop-off procedures um so our drop-off procedures um this is normally if you've been a part of our summer camp before you park your car get out of um get out of the car and come in and drop your student off at camp we are putting a big no-no on that for this year it's all going to be curb um curbside service so when you drop your student off at camp here as a parent you will stay in your car and we have staff members that will be outside to help your student get out of the vehicle um and we are also trying to encourage if possible the same parent pick-up and drop-off at Camp this just kind of helps with um who we come in contact with and limits that um an imprint spare staff member will meet you at the curb um and they will sign your child in and out and they'll also perform a brief health screening that will go into detail in just a few minutes um and then once that student passes the health screening they um will be handed off to another staff person that's inside the building and then that person inside the building will direct that student to where they need to go and before the student enters the building we will have a sanitation station where students will sanitize their hands before go into the building and staff members will also be sanitizing their hands between each student they help do their whole training get them out of the car um please please please arrange for enough time to go through this process um this is going to be every single day of summer camp I know the first week will be um even a little bit more chaotic because we give out t-shirts it's the first day so please especially that first week a lot enough time to have those through this drop-off procedure in just everyday because we're gonna have to do these health checks every single day to ensure the health and safety of our camp and then if you need to speak with a staff member beyond the regular drop off or pick up procedures we'll have a designated area in the parking lot that you can park your car and talk to one of the staff members um so these help screenings we have taken straight from the CDC website and we kind of designed our our own from with guidance from that um but every person that enters the building whether that's a camper a staff person or a vendor will go through this same health screening um and it's there's different questions that you go through that we did generate and and you have to a student in the staff member have to pass this health screening to be admitted into camp um and so any person that does not pass this health screening will not be able to go into the camp and a lot of questions we've gotten for crisis care is um well when can they come back to camp and so we're following the CDC guidelines with this ten days since they first had symptoms is the CDC's rule and also without a fever for 72 hours without medication and if someone your your child or a staff member has had close contact with someone who has tested positive for kovat um will have to stay home in quarantine for at least 14 days and so the next slide is just what our health check looks like it might be kind of hard to read but we do do a temperature test every day we are getting um the the thermometers where it just points at the student's head you don't even have to come in contact with their head that will take their temperature and we record these daily and it's just these questions that we have to ask you as a parent every day on the front of that page and then on the second page is just kind of for our staff reference of you know if there's an underlying medical condition so if a student has asthma we're still gonna care for that student but we're gonna monitor it very closely so we have that space there to kind of make notes if we need it or if a student has had a cough you know allergies are really serious right now so we just want to to monitor all those different types of things um and if things have gotten better gotten worse that's just kind of what the back page of this health log is for so our staff can make notes if we ever need to all right how about a technical there we go so hand washing and space sanitation this is again something we're taking very very seriously um if you've been involved with our camp before we do rotate between every 30 to 45 minutes for activities um and with that between every rotation staff and students will be washing their hands um and we have different logs that we monitor this with and then also is also the staffs responsibility to sanitize any equipment that we have used between activities so if there's a group playing in the gym and they play with hula hoops that staff will have the tools to sanitize all the equipment um and that's kind of the biggest and then we also have our leadership staff so our camp directors and things like that will be regularly multiple times daily will be sanitizing general used areas so the door handles and the water fountains and tables and things like that so we have all these different cleaning logs um that we have put into place um so some questions I think that have come through um so staff base um with face masks so when students are being dropped off all of the staff will wear um face masks and gloves when they are outside doing the health screenings with students um staff and students all have the option to wear face masks if they would like to UM but once someone a staff member or student enters the building that is a safe place that everyone who has passed the health screening is there so there should be no issue with um students and staff not wearing face masks inside um in another question what if I come to drop off late all you need to do if you drop off late is you will call we have site phones there will be signage posted and you'll also get those numbers prior to camp where you can call the staff member on site and say hey I'm here to drop off my student the staff we'll gear up with their gloves and mask and come outside and and health check that student will all know so not all in the car will be screened it will just be the camper and [Music] so and then other general safety precautions um staff will be trained very thoroughly in all these procedures and things that they as they come a lot of our staff are already working our crisis care so they're pretty up-to-date with all of the different safety protocols but we are starting our staff training as early as next week to get them in to get them trained and to get them feeling comfortable with all these different procedures that we have um like I mentioned staff will record all of the cleaning and hand-washing we have different logs for everything um there we are gonna work on social distancing as much as we possibly can we know that's hard with with kiddos um but we're gonna have things like visual markers um to encourage social distancing such as when students are waiting in line for the bathroom you know we're gonna have stickers tape on the floor that keeps them six feet apart from each other and same with any like eating areas or if they're sitting down to do an activity we're going to space the kids out um so we maintain that social distancing um and if a student begins to demonstrate any signs or symptoms they will be given a mask we have been very lucky to get some awesome donations from different people in our community with masks and we have some set aside that are just for students that will be placed at camp so if a student starts to show signs um that we will isolate that student into a special place monitored by a staff person and then where they can wait while they're waiting for their parents to pick up and if a stop person starts showing signs they'll be sent home immediately um so any cleaning products that we use um will be locked we have locked cabinets at each one of our camp locations and when those products are not being used they're going to be locked in our cap and then for our pickup procedure this is a little bit more simple um than it is to drop off so at that normal drop off or I mean pick up time the staff members will be outside to meet the parent and they will radio inside to the staff members what camper needs to be ready to go home um and if you pick up at an uncommon time there um there will be a no staff member outside but like I said earlier you can just call that phone number and tell the staff person that you're there to pick up um and then staff will ask for a photo ID to confirm um that the person picking up is an authorized pickup um and this is something we do for safety and what staff get to know you and see okay mom you've been picking up everyday they'll start to recognize who you are but if grandpa picks up for whatever reason one day we're going to be asking for that photo ID just to make sure kids are going home with you okay all right thank you guys by we're getting mr. Bart back um to be unmuted and we did get a lot of questions in that section so we are going to cover those more towards one part back to you all right well as you guys can tell we have been doing a lot we are in constant contact with our own local health department who passes our information alone and Ashley's been doing a great job I know there's a lot of questions there's a lot of concerns about how we do things how we're going to keep your kids safe we're gonna do everything in our everything possible to keep everybody safe we've been running crisis care for two and A two months now almost two and a half months with no problems I know that our numbers are a little bit higher or are gonna be a lot higher than our crisis care so you know we will have the social distancing as best as possible we know our capacities now we're in an educational building which the capacities are a little different than what you think of in the general public the general public inside you're not allowed to have anything more than ten but for an educational building I can have its by square footage so in the size of a gym I can have up to 50 kids will we probably not our groups are designed for about 15 kids no more than fifteen with one staff member the most I probably have is maybe two teams playing a game with dodgeball in the gym or an activity together if that nature but that is going to be rare we do try to keep them apart there are no games where we touch kids and all the rest of that type thing lunch I saw a couple for lunch yes they will set separate from each other they can't sit next to each other we are going to distance them we're gonna mark seats and chairs and stuff that tells them that where they can sit and where they can't sit just like if you were going to a restaurant we will have everything prepped that day it's going to seem very unusual for your students so if you'll tell them this is what they're kind of expecting I'm sure with what's been going on they're used to a lot of changes but it's different when they go back to school say hey why can't I sit right next to my person in here there's like three seats in between us this is what we have to do to perform with a safety and what's best for your children okay we're gonna move on so what to expect the first day of camp or prior to the first day camp well number one you're gonna get an email a week out of your first day might not be the first day of camp it'll be your first day camp so some people will get this week three if you're coming week four for the rest you come in week one starting on the 15th or that week you'll get it the week prior you're gonna get an email that's gonna tell you everything about camper kind of like what we're giving you here it's a long lengthy email it's got everything in it that you're gonna need so that you can pull up on your phone if you ever have a question it'll have the phone numbers it'll have everything you need in it you're also gonna get a copy of your students information sheet what we want to do is verify that all the information we have is correct for some of you you've been with us for a long time and you register your child back in August but you've changed your phone number or something of that nature or your authorized pickups have changed they've changer we wanted to get the most up-to-date information we can because if you're with us you're not filling out applications right now do just roll you over so you're gonna get a reminder list of the things we went over what to bring what not to bring you're gonna get a weekly calendar for you they have been with us this is that busy calendar tells you what your children are doing you're gonna get that every week you're gonna get a map of where to drop off and how to do the drop-off it'll tell you if their arrows because we're going to do curb pickup that first day of school please please or camp please bear with us I am gonna try to have anywhere from 8 to 12 staff out at each camp helping unload kids as fast as we can and giving you the stuff that we need and collecting this stuff but you're going to get a map on how that works and most of you that pick up at schools you know that there's a lot how the arrows go we're gonna have something similar and then we're also gonna send you stuff on how to sign up for a mine that's how we shoot out quick emails if something's happen such as you know we had to close do the weather which never happens for summer what we do for winter but if we need to send out a quick information it text you unless you know that what's going on so that's what you're gonna get prior just camp even starting again you get these weekly calendars Shelby's created them I've passed that on this my first year I've not created them I'm kind of passed on it's kind of like my things and I have enjoyed doing this my stress relief to design all these cool cool calendars but she's taking over all the activities and stuff so she gets to dues these will be available weekly they will be sent out every week that you attend camp you'll get them the week prior so that you know what your kids schedule are and you kind of go over with what they spent the first day when you come to camp so at your camps well that keep it weird you've got a camp supervisor for each camp there are hours that do that's the person that is the head honcho at that camp they oversee everything all staffing all events everything that happens um they work Monday through Thursday from 8:00 to 6:00 oh they are off on Friday because I can't work too much so I have another person comes in works just Friday's for them there's a parent greeter they're in charge of that team that is going to be screening your children they're the ones that you see in the afternoons so you'll see that same person they'll probably be the ones that are actually taking the temperature of all the kids and logging your kids in every morning base camp team we have a morning group so it's basically a morning group that works from 7:00 to 12:30 and then I have a group that works from 12:30 to 6:00 they will handle all the activities inside the facilities and do all the activities with the kids we've changed it up a little this year it's gonna be the same people for the whole week so the same people working mornings and the same people working afternoon so that kids get used to the same staff instead of one personally working Monday Tuesday and Thursday Friday so a little more continuity going on there for for your children and our staff so the first day of camp you're going to you probably might not see the greeter you're probably just gonna have a normal staff that'd be the one that's talked to you they're gonna as Ashley said they're just gonna bear it defy your contact information review and update all the information medical forms you'll get a medical form on the initial Welcome Packet if your child has medication so we're gonna hit this a little more you'll need to do bring that form with you we'll talk about that here in a second and then of course they're going to get signed in that first day when you come in they're gonna give you your t-shirts that you have for camp if you need to turn in a sunscreen because you're allergic then they'll label it and they'll turn it in and they'll collect the medication forms and any medicines that your child need while taking a kale so if your child has a medicine that they need to take every day or they you just want to send aspirins or something of that nature you can you must fill out the medical form this is the form that lost our staff to give your child that tells them what the dosage is how often they are to get it and everything like of that nature your contact information again in case we have any emergencies at that section they will staff will take that form from you and the medicine they'll put it in a ziploc bag and label it with your child's name and what group they're sorted it will go into a backpack we call it our medical backpack and each team has one it will go on their team so that it goes with that group wherever they go if they come up during the middle of the day and say hey I got to take it at lunch they would just come in with to the camp supervisor the camp supervisor will log that we gave them their medicine on the form and give them their medicines whenever we are told to all right here is the biggest question of the summer and Prince cares we are huge into our field trips but unfortunately we're at a different time period these days and this is the challenging part for us so due to the CDC's guidelines and what the government the governor of North Carolina has put out is that we are no law we cannot have any non-essential travel and we must maintain social distancing through this phase to I do not know what phase three will bring but through phase two we can't go anywhere number one our groups are too big and I can't social distance on a bus or any other type of vehicle so and this would be honest with you the majority of our vendors who we have booked and we had some Shelby has booked some awesome trips for us this summer she's been doing it since January the vendors are calling us and canceling because they cannot have camp does that mean camp is gonna be bad you know just for right now does that mean we'll take no field trips all summer no okay so we know for at least the first month that we are shot down on field trips we are coming up with all kinds of other things that will allow us to have fun at camp so for instance did you know ya wanna flip slide for me thank you so we're trying to bring a lot of these vendors to us because we can't have med schools so they won't actually be doing on a rolling field trip so I know that for instance one of our trips was going to Charlotte to the wraptor North Carolina Raptor Center so he's been in contact with him they're gonna bring their birds of prey to us so we're gonna do a lot of things Taekwondo is coming to us instead of us going there there's a lot of things that we will be bringing to camp we just won't have the field trips we are hoping that sometime in July toward the end the camp maybe we can roll these field trips but as of right now I can't tell you what we can do or what we can't do just that we can't roll anywhere right now as soon as the governor releases some more things then we're hoping that we can open up and we can keep going on field trips I know one of the big ones that we did last year was the overnight trip I've got a lot of emails from people wanting to know hey is that gonna happen again this year we are trying we are trying our done darndest to make that happen it is in August right before the kids go back to school so hopefully curfews will be lifted a little more and we can make those things happen we will keep you up to date on a weekly basis of where we stand on field trips things might happen at the last minute it might be hey you know the governor lifted this we're gonna start rolling on our trips there might not be as many as we've had in the past just because again the numbers kind of keep us from going places our numbers for our teams normally stand around 60 so we might have to break those in half and half the group go in the morning half the group go in the afternoon and then the other team goes the next day we'll work around that trust us when we say that we want to get your children out of school on field trips because my staff loved it the kids loved it and we know that's a huge part but as of right now we are gonna make our schools the best we can and the most fun we can what we've done now this doesn't sound like fun but trust me it will be fun is we've had taken this field trip time and added educational enrichment when we start camp on the 15th of June our children would have been out of school for three months the last time they went was back in March 13th was their last day so the great part of imprints cares is we hire most of our staff our teachers from the school system their teachers teacher's assistants and all kinds of other people that work for the schools so we've got a whole band of them together and said this is what we want to do we want to have an educational block to help with this Summer Slide number one it's just not a Summer Slide it was a fourth quarter and now a Summer Slide so we're going to bring in a lot of educational they are not going to be sitting at a desk doing worksheets and studying spelling words and things like that we are gonna be up we're gonna be moving it's gonna be engaged our teachers that have signed up to do this for us loved it they miss their kids they missed that one that face-to-face interaction it is not going to be like this what we're doing right here and it's gonna be no virtual stuff I don't want him to watch they've been for virtual doing virtual lessons for the past couple months it's all gonna be hands-on it's all gonna be self it's gonna be learning by teachers right there in the room it's gonna be really neat things will it be all day no it won't be it's only going to be short periods but again it'll be first it'll be that face-to-face thing moving on so so some of the talk that the morning topics that we are going to be just having with the kids and these are 30 minute blocks is a science and this science is gonna be fun they can do anything from build rockets and learn about rockets to learn about animals we've got all kinds of people bringing in all kinds of different things but it will be educational based they won't be writing research papers or coming home with homework but they're gonna be doing a lot of hands-on things math huge thing that people fall behind it even on a normal day is math I know because my wife is a high school math teacher she says that these kids can just learn the multiplication tables they'll be in business so but we're not gonna sit and justyou method multiplication tables we're gonna work with the kids on a lot of different math things a lot of cool things that they can't do in the classroom or that their teachers have been wanting to teach they just haven't been able to do the timing so a lot of fun activities geometry they'll have a competition I know several my teachers are looking at having competitions between the different groups math challenges and things they'll have I can't think of the word Oh escape rooms that are built for on math will have escape rooms built on all our topics really so we've really looked at doing a lot of cool things reading and writing for our younger kids we've adopted the Hegarty program which a lot of our school system has adopted and we will be working with our k2 group in this Hegarty program it is a 20-minute lesson that is it so it is all about how to read write it's just an awesome group they had its pre done so we don't have to come up with anything it's a curriculum already set that the school system is approved so the little kids the younger kids will be working on the older kids will be something stays a lot more difficult they might be doing a reading a chapter book and answering questions but again these blocks are only 30 minutes long and then they rotate to the next block so lots of cool things that are set for that and then in school is what they teaches a social and emotional and we do this in our normal summer camp so it's a little most to deal with everything that's going on so we're working with the school Health Alliance they're gonna be working with us we have teachers that teach us in school they're gonna be working how to become better kids how to become better children for their parents just all kinds of neat things you can run with this in many different many different ways so I said this is our educational blog some things might change but this is gonna be the basics we might have a Spanish teacher come in and work for Spanish with the kids that fight thing we really didn't throw in art because number one when Shelby's when they're doing their themed activities that's a lot of PE time which is games a lot of crafts that's arts so we've got a lot of things built into the day but we never tell the kids that part is educational they learned a lot they'll learn a lot about science because she'll be even though air all our weeks are themed she does a lot of history behind the themes where the kids learn one of the weeks is all about presidents they're gonna learn and do crafts and activities about presidents and they're gonna learn about them they just don't know that so that's a lot of history thrown in there so that's some really cool things that we say that we do so a typical day what is a typical day look like for our younger kids our orange team you're gonna hopefully drop off between 7 & 8 or 8:45 I recommend that you drop off before breakfast starts oh no it's free it's normally breakfast for the school system is really good I see they're gonna be pancakes or something like that french toast but we do have schedules for that you'll know what the schedules are so I recommend that you try to drop them off before breakfast in the morning though they'll have games they'll be broke up into groups they'll start off in the cafeteria and as the numbers get where we need to switch them they'll be moving the classrooms to play still play it 8 o'clock they'll go out to the playground then they'll come on 4 for breakfast their enrichment time or their educational enrichment time is from 9:15 to 12:30 said they're only 30-minute blocks but they are rotations so why it seems so long is we staff to go to the bathroom we have to wash their hands we have to wipe down the tables again is that part that Ashley was talking about that sometimes consuming things it takes up a little bit of time so that's why it seems like longer than just a two-hour block they'll eat lunch around 12:30 to 12:15 lunch is free unless your children just don't want the school lunch that's fine they can bring their own but this round it's bigger 1:15 in the afternoon every afternoon they will be doing all activities based on whatever the theme of the week was so it could be games crafts activities you name it special guests that's what that time would they'll handle all the things with the activities they'll have their snacks around three o'clock and then the theme activity they'll have another rotation of theme activities the end of the day that we go to the gym playing some gym games and then that last hour we kind of break them up into smaller groups where they can play individual games puzzles read this is the time they can read why they kind of wait for mom and dad to come pick well some of them sleep because they're pretty much passed out by this time so that's a typical game for the orange team a typical day for the blue team is just the opposite they will have their activities their themed activities in the morning why the younger group is doing their educational themes the older kids will be doing their theme based games and activities after lunch they will start their educational walk and then they'll have a snack at 3:30 to 4:00 o'clock and then they also go into now this says playground cafeteria games that's just pretty generic for us it does change it's not the same thing every day we do add different things in there that can happen but they are like larger group type things and this year we're going to be breaking up into smaller group things so it can be that you have a reading they go read or they a group goes to cafeteria a group goes outside we're going to be under the shade as much as possible we're gonna have them spread out pretty much everywhere this last couple hours communications the easiest way to communicate to you or how we communicate number want to be by email and that's how you guys hear from me most of time is email if we need to we'll give you a phone call if your child gets hurt from any reason if they get they don't feel well if they just said I need to talk to my mommy we are going to call you okay please don't think that everything is bad by the time we call you doesn't mean it but we're not going to try to bother you at work but if your child needs any assistance we're gonna give you a heads up we also use the text for mind is to remain calm but it sends you quick text if we just need to send it to you then we'd send you attacks but the this word allows us to send the whole camp a text at one time so all the parents get it at one time okay the easiest way to call to contact us is most of you all have my emails and cell phone number you can call me but if you need to get actually in touch with the camp you will have the camp director cell phone number you will also have the cell phone for each team if your child is on the orange team there's a separate cell phone that who's in charge of the orange team they all have that phone if they're on the blue team there's a separate line for them okay the camp director will always be there from eight to six so there you should be able to call them at any point okay weekly themes this is where the fun kicks in and I'm gonna turn it over to the funny girl miss Shelby and she will tell you all the stuff that she's been working she's actually been working on this since October and she told me that she was really disappointed about this ko bid 19 thing that happened because this was the first year that she was well ahead of schedule and honestly things changed so we're always being tested here but she had had everything planned your calendars were even done and this hit and now everything in the last three weeks she has been changing everything with him so I'm gonna turn it over to her and let her tell you about all about what's going on thanks Bart yeah I know I am I'm excited to see your campers this summer and it's gonna make it all worth it I promise so what we are gonna do is just go through very quickly the weekly themes normally this is about what activities they're doing at camp and on field trips but for now like Bart had said we are putting a pin and all field trip so it is going to be focusing on these themed activities that are happening at camp it is not going to cover any of those educational activities because these are just about the themes so with that said we're gonna jump off we have a theme we try to do a cultural theme every year and this year we chose Japan so last year we did I believe Mexico the year prior with Scotland so this year was Japan because the Olympics were supposed to be happening in Japan so some activities they'll be enjoying it camp on your kids will be learning how to do some high - they'll be making candy sushi rolls out of out of the rice krispies and the fruit by the foot they're gonna be doing some windsock crafts and then be learning some brush strokes all from Japanese culture then another thing that we've got is going to be the Hall of Presidents this week is going to be the same all camps it's gonna be that 4th of July week so um it's gonna be happening that week they will be enjoying enjoying colonial games they'll be making their own presidential monument marshmallows out of marshmallows we've created a national treasure hunt where they'll be scouring around the school to find all the clues to find their treasure and a presidential parade where they'll get decked out and enjoy going on a parade around the school we also have a steam leak this year I know it was a huge success we get a similar week last year but kids really enjoyed the steam activities themselves so we've incorporated some music lessons the kids will be doing an egg drop competition we've got things like geo boards we have pattern blocks we're making binary necklaces so a lot of those steam activities we also have a whole block in the afternoon or in the morning depending on what team your child is on that we're bringing in an outside company called briquette robotics and they'll be coming to us and letting us they'll be doing four rotations let me making cars they'll be doing some different robot activities and things like that that will last that whole rotation for the morning or the afternoon another thing we've got where the wild things are which is based off the popular children's book will be doing a reptile scavenger hunt where they'll go find the reptile eggs then they've got some animal tracks bingo or they'll be playing and identifying different animal tracks and then playing various predator versus prey kind of gym games we have two special visits for this week as Bart mentioned earlier we were supposed to go visit the Carolina Raptor Center in Charlotte but but we are unable to at this time so they are going to bring the Raptors to us they're going to bring three different birds of prey teach the kids all about how they are how they fly what they eat and their kids will get to see those up close and personal we also have a visit from the Carolina reptile Center which is located in Kernersville and they'll be bringing different kinds of lap not wild different kinds of reptiles for the kids to view and also touch even parent from permission and learn about those kinds so we've got the birds who got the reptiles creating where the wild are we also have a theme we call about the great state of North Carolina so we'll be doing different Carolina based activities I don't know why it is jumping but I'm gonna keep making it go back to what I'm talking about so they'll be doing a North Carolina taste testing where they'll have to compare does the Coke or Pepsi taste like it tastes with film in it so I'm looking at different products that are made in North Carolina for instance they'll be tasting at Krispy Kreme donut versus a Walmart donut and they'll have to see if they can identify which is which we've got several gym games a lot which correspond to beaches because so much of our state is coastal we're going to do a Wright brother's airplane design where they're going to design their own paper airplanes send them through a course see how far they can go but also test their accuracy and just overall style and we're going to play a couple games about our airports a couple games about our lighthouses because those are all things that are very important to North Carolina the not so secret life of pets is our pet themed week as you can tell that base camp they're going to be doing several activities regarding pets they're going to do a hereditary activity where they have to look at adult animals adult pets versus um for instance an adult dog versus a puppy and have to match the two even getting into breeds an adult bulldog and a puppy bulldog will have to match those they'll be going through a dog agility course they'll be seeing a video of that in action and then get to build their own obstacle course um they get to do an example where they create their own ideal pet it can be something as simple as my favorite pet dog or they can combine animals to have a dragon lion fish mix and then they have to design the habitat that would best suit that we also are going to look to you parents because we are looking to have a parent pet show Intel where the parents will bring their pets again parents won't come into the building but will bring the pets have their kid do a show-and-tell um we do have three different special visits for this week we have several service and therapy dogs lined up that are gonna come in and teach us about what it is to be working animal we have a visit from the Forsyth Humane Society he's gonna come in and tell us about how pet adoption works and teach us the importance of pet hair and then we also have a visit for mr. Tyler he has several exotic pets and he's gonna be bringing those in to tell us about them and their lifestyle in the while but what it's like to have them next up we go to our career themed week hi ho hi ho it's off to work we go where your kids are going to be able to learn and experience and play different kind of ways that that we would in the different careers because there are a wide array of careers so for some examples of what they'll be doing at base camp we've got a waiter in training practice where they'll be doing an obstacle course while trying to keep their dishes from falling off their tray we've got astronaut Academy where they're gonna be um dodging asteroids and things like that and then we've got a plumber pipe phase where they'll be designing their own pipes and pouring water and seeing where the leaks are and having to fix that we have to visit set up for this week we have a visit from a chef and nutritionist for child nutrition that's going to come in and tell students all about what it is to be a nutritionist and also share some of their nutrition expertise with them and we also visit set up with the linsan salem police department to come in and tell us about what it's like for their careers wilderness explorers week for those of you have seen up you guys definitely recognize this little friend he is a wilderness explorer and this week your kids will become wilderness explorers during this week we're going to do several activities at base camp they'll be going on a scavenger hunt collecting their wilderness explorer badges after they make their wilderness explorer sashes as you seen Russell in the picture wearing will be learning how to use compasses and learning about our cardinal directions and playing various games with those and playing several again gym games involving the food chain and things like that we have two visits for this week miss Rudy is one of our teachers at southfork she's been a scout leader for ten years and is gonna come in and do some rotations where she teaches our campers about different Scout techniques how to build a fire how to set up a tent things like that and then we also have Miss Wanda coming in she is a certified EMT and she will be coming in to teach us about some wilderness first-aid so for instance how to splint Tula using sticks and bandanas and all that fun stuff that our kiddos are gonna get really excited about and hopefully never have to use in their own wilderness explorer and last but not least survivor our sixth anniversary of Survivor we'll be doing different land activities water activity they'll be making their team banners and this is really a week for them to learn how to team build how to work together and to see what team comes out on top so with that that is all of our themes and this is the themes by camp you might notice that these themes are not what was originally posted as Bart said we are going back to school as of right now a week early so a lot of those themes did have to adjust and move around so if you signed up because of a specific week of you know for instance I really want my kids to go to the week about Japan please make sure that that is still the same week that you signed up for as some of them have changed and if you have any questions about that feel free to reach out to Lory as she does all of our registration she will be able to switch those weeks and fix that for you because we know that is something that some parents do but it's not if you signed up just because you have a certain week of dates then even if the theme has changed they're all gonna be exciting they're all gonna be a great time so you should have no problem with that um so with that I am going to pass it off to mr. Bart and he is going to thank you all right guys thanks Shelby again another wonderful year of camp the only thing that is missing is all those wonderful field trips but hopefully we can get those in and I'm glad that we were able to get some of these vendors to come to us I know like she said a lot of some of our parents do sign up for specific weeks um they did have to change because number one summer camp got reduced from 11 weeks to 9 weeks because school is going back early so we had to change some things around like we took out the Summer Olympics because we're gonna hold those for next year being the summer lessons got postponed you will just need to call Lori yes I will allow you to switch your weeks if that's what it is the problem was we we know that this is a wild time it's a crazy time and everything changes from day to day I think for the first three weeks every day we came in we were pulling our hair out because it changed from the day prior things are a little bit calmer now still not as great as we'd love to them but we understand that there are changes that need to happen so if you need to this is Lori's number you're gonna bombard her I will tell you that if you need to switch weeks you need to call her or email her as quick as possible I will tell you that Winston camp one which is at South Park Elementary is getting very close to being full the same with winston-salem camp - at Spees Elementary they are very close to getting full there is room and I believe there is still room at all for all weeks for both grade levels or for both teams but I'll be honest with you I know on the special of the orange team at both those camps there are weeks that are under ten openings left Kernersville Kernersville here from Kernersville sign up because Colonel camp is has a lot of openings there are probably at half capacity right now which is not a problem but we have plenty of room for your children when we do hit capacity we will have to shut the camps down we cannot go over capacity because we will be violating our CDC guidelines that we are allowed to have we we pushed it to the max so that we could handle everything we need to handle because we have a lot of great parents that need care for this time you've been home with your children thank goodness minor old they still come over to visit for dinner and everything but I don't have to die can send them home you guys are stuck with yours all the time and I know it's time to get back to work and you're ready to go back and get send your kids to visit us we will keep them busy we will send them home tired they will have fun again if you need anything you can well you can email me I will tell you that Shannon and Shelby and Ashley there have been a lot of questions about the CDC regulations and what we're going to do to keep your kids safe and as far as the social distancing and all that they are going to put together tomorrow a video a short video clip answering all these questions re going over this stuff again so that you feel comfortable with us we want you to feel comfortable that your kids are in a safe and enrichment camp okay that's just that is our number one goal of your child safety our second goal is that they have fun and but we want to keep them safe so we don't want to keep you out there and keep you confused of what's going on we give you all the information we have again once we find out from the school system if we were open on Fridays we can be there we will be open we do not want to shut down so keep your fingers crossed that will we meet with them again this week that will have something by the end of this week and this is all we have for you thanks for our first virtual parent meeting I hope the goodness we don't have to do this again a lot of your questions were answered by Ashley or bio tamara and amy i want to thank my staff for staying late tonight to handle this and if you have any more questions keep them coming you can email us you can do them on facebook you can do them on what's o youtube or you can do them over our website or you can email me i appreciate you all have a great week and we will see you later thank you
