hey guys Chris will Thompson here for maker gonna learn today we are DIY I gift card holder perfect for Christmas we are going to begin with the cut files we are going to type envelope and then we're going to download the envelope we are going to upload it up to design space so you click upload image and then we're gonna grab our envelope and bring it in so when you are waiting for your envelope to come through think about what size you want and that it's very important that you measure out your gift cards I know that gift cards can vary in size and in my case I'm actually using a Walmart gift card so make sure that the gift card is gonna fit within that left square because that's what we're gonna attach it to we're gonna go ahead and size it and then we're gonna go and cut it out of red cardstock now we are doing a DIY paper stencil we're gonna start at the makers gonna learn cut files we're gonna click on Christmas and we're gonna scroll all the way down and we're gonna download the snowflake pattern so you're wondering why are we making it out of paper well tell you what we are using all the components we're using the stencil and then the insights that we used removed from the stencil we're gonna upload the snowflake pattern we're gonna bring it in and honestly I would just spice these up just a little bit you don't want to make them too big that when you stencil you don't know what it looks like but we're gonna use these as well so we're gonna go ahead and cut these out of white cardstock so now that all of our stuff is ready to go we have our red envelope and it's been pre-cut and this is just red cardstock then we have the snowflake patterns and I have separated those already for your supply so you're gonna need some glitter so I'm using a very fine glitter and then a chunky glitter meet some clear glue washi tape if you want some red sequins that magic cardstock and that's gonna be the stuff for the pace or you can buy premade paste we are going to start with doing our stenciling from the paper stencil so I'm gonna put this angle and as you can see look how pretty this ends up it's gonna be super super fun when we add our pace so for DIY paste recipe we are going to add some clear glue and I am using mono tombow you can get this at your favorite craft supplies or online then we're gonna come in with a very fine glitter we're gonna add just a little bit and there are no recipes as to really how much of everything you really just go based on how much glue you're using and if you if you add a lot of glue is going to be more of a sheer if you add a little bit of glue it's going to be very very chunky so depends on the consistency of the pace that you create I'm gonna grab a little spatula I got these at the dollar store which is amazing and then we're gonna grab and we're gonna spread the glue that we created so I'm gonna speed this up but I want to make sure that you know that when you are adding your paste you do it following the contours of the cuts for example do not go against like as you see I'm going from the outside in and that way I don't lift that paper because it's not a plastic censor or acetate stencil we want to be sure that we do not lose our pattern by lifting you can also dab on your paste onto the inside of the cuts if you don't feel comfortable with doing some of the rubbing okay so if you run out you can totally make some more it ends up working out really really well once that's done we're gonna remove the stencil and look how gorgeous the bigger snowflakes turned out to be the best of course now we're going to repeat the process on the other side and be sure that you have your you're only doing the outer part try not to do the little flops on the sides because that's where we going to place our glue again we're gonna create our paste we're gonna do glue and then glitter and for this one I wanted to experiment and we're going to add a couple of the red sequins and then more glue I'll tell you what I felt like the snowflake slot says shape after I added the sequins it made it really pretty but a little more difficult to work with so as you can see having to come back and have more clear glue because it was just too chunky continue mixing and then for this one see how it lifts it up I when it's chunky like that you really want to dab it on the stencil you okay we are finishing up our stenciling here we are gonna remove it and we're gonna allow some drawing time so while we allow it to dry takes about mmm five minutes or so depending on how thick you made it we're gonna move on to our gift card holder so the square is ready to go I'm using some glittered washi tape that I felt it would match really well and then we're gonna create a little ribbon by sticking both ends together we're gonna use our left over paste to add some of the shimmer because you are gonna be able to see some of this through the window of our gift card holder just felt a little shimmer would be lovely and then we finished using our paste be sure to wash your plate and your spatula or whatever it is you're using before it dries up okay so that's what it looks like nice and dry as you can see it's very shimmery absolutely lovely we're gonna fold at the creases so this cut file does have the little dots to follow the fold so be sure to fold on that and then we're gonna slip over and try to line up the two corners of the square once we're done with that we're gonna fold the little lips the little holders we're gonna place our he civ there as you can see that's what's going to create the pocket I'm using a tumble runner if you find your Runner is not holding on you need to use something a little more sticky such as score tapes of your scrapbooker go look for some score tape and again it's just a double-sided adhesive we're gonna fold that down and we're gonna follow those corners just so it's nice and even and then we're gonna fold that top at this point when you mail it off I would put a little sticker or more of that gorgeous washi tape to close that down but for this video we are going to place the little gift card holder and you see we have a nice ribbon washi to pull it up because being a birthday Walmart gift card so when you are doing an open gift card holder like this grab cute gift card guys because it's gonna look you're gonna be able to see it alright hold on so then we're gonna fold it and the washi folds down really really nicely okay so remember those paper snowflakes now we're gonna use them to decorate the window of this so we're gonna add some he said just to the corner of the snowflake we're gonna place it bottom left and it's gonna overlap some of that gift card and that's okay just make sure you don't have any clue that's gonna get stuck to your gift card or to the bottom part of the envelope that pulled up I'm gonna add the next white snowflake and then last but not least we are going to add the very largest snowflake onto the other corner and that created the window and it's absolutely lovely you can even add some vellum if you want it to really cover the gift card but look how pretty it was super fast and you could totally miss produced these by cutting a bunch of the top files and then doing a ton of paste that does it guys thank you so much for joining me this is Krystal Thompson for makers gonna learn I can't wait to see your gift card holders have an awesome day
