the west we spent two years investigating this [Music] campaign qatar charity has been under scrutiny for years four arab countries the united arab emirates saudi arabia egypt and bahrain accuse it of sponsoring islamist groups under the cover of humanitarian aid all fingers point to the ruling al-tani clan [Music] what does qatar's emir shake tamim bin know about the activities of his country's time in 1954. the brotherhood became the target of a fierce crackdown in the 60s some members of the group sought refuge in europe expert in political islam hal sinigi has studied the careers of albana's ideological heirs in europe they founded such islamic organizations as uoif in france ucoi in italy and igd in germany i would be more inclined to call them neo-muslim brothers a neo-muslim commemorates the battle of 732 the time of this is an important date in french history since it was the only victory by christians over muslims at the time one by charlemagne the king of the francs it's noted that the conquest was won by the sword today we want our center in poitiers to be a new stage of the muslim conquest but in a different way we hope to make this place a center of dialogue is that qatar embarked on a huge very well-funded image campaign it invested in the paris saint-germain football club and wanted to help entrepreneurs in poor suburbs it wanted to rebuild its image to distance itself from saudi arabia to say a contextualized islam probably [Music] statements confirm that qatar has a strategy of supporting the muslim brotherhood network in europe and those who are close to it the sudden surge in spending caught the attention of intelligence services in germany at the state office for the protection of the constitution in north rhine westphalia in dusseldorf director bukhart fryer readily shared his thoughts with us we have observed that salafism is out to divide society but also the muslim brothers ostensibly they uphold democracy but we've observed that within the organization there's a push for an islamist state based on the quran and shariah in germany we've noticed for some time now that the muslim brotherhood has become more active we assume that the muslim brotherhood is funded both by private donations and by arab countries we raise awareness of the dangers posed by the muslim brotherhood among the public and also politicians and specifically of the ways it undermines democracy at its roots i recommend banning donations from abroad because that allows foreign governments to influence religious elements that are active here [Music] does qatar charity exert influence over the entities it funds if so how the museum of the civilizations of islam in the swiss city of la shodofon in the canton of nushatel was financed by qatar charity it opened its doors in 2016. its director is nadia kamu the idea for this museum came about 17 years ago driven by a desire to create something enjoyable and at the same time a place where people can go to seek answers at the time of its inauguration kamu made a list of donors public they were primarily from the gulf she didn't hide the fact that some of the funds were funneled through qatar charity these people can't send money directly but can give it to a local organization qatar charity once transferred a small sum we didn't have any choice it was either that or we didn't get our money we don't know them nadia kamu and her husband mohammed kamu here on the right operate a dozen associations cultural centers and religious centers in french-speaking switzerland and in the canton of ticino they are influential islamic figures in their country the flash drive documents show that nadia kamu downplays her ties to qatar charity in 2014 she signed a contract with its director yusuf al-kuwaari to renovate the building that houses the museum in total 14 bank receipts not only for payments to the cultural institute that hosts the museum but also to another cultural center in lausanne and to an association in lugano in toccino these two establishments are run by her husband between 2011 and 2013 qatar charity wired nearly three million swiss francs or
