but welcome to a new team CG c920 video so I wanted to talk today about all these todd mcfarlane Signature Series CDC books that I'm seeing out there just on Instagram everyone sharing their Signature Series books that they're getting back from that todd mcfarlane signature event that CDC did so 11 all the books I'm seeing out there but I thought it would be a good time to just talk about you know if you're out there needing you don't have any Signature Series books at Todd McFarlane or something like that you know should you go out in this environment and by talking part of an Signature Series books so I want to discuss that and come at it from kind of a classic viewpoint and maybe share my opinion as well really quick though I wanted to go into an interesting census detail a CGC census detail that I noticed because obviously for this todd mcfarlane signing event it was so big there were a lot of people you know that we're cracking blue label books sending them in and getting Todd to sign them and getting them regraded and re slabbed so I was wondering if there was any type of process out there that CDC had to sort of you know if they cracked a blue label to take that off the blue label and then obviously they're putting the new Signature Series book on the census under the yellow label Signature Series so I was wondering you know if they accounted for that and you know what looking on the census in the last couple days it's looking like they definitely have a process now whether they're doing this for every cracked slab I'm not sure I think if they have it in house and they crack it in house then maybe they're doing it would be my opinion because formated spider-man 300 we have done a couple videos in the last week or two here where there were a thousand and eight of them in the blue label on the census so after the Signature Series Todd McFarlane event looking on the census this morning there's nine hundred ninety six of them so there was one thousand and eight of them in the blue label now there's nine hundred ninety six of them in the blue late so yeah what's that over ten of them were cracked and you know probably likely turned into Signature Series books obviously but that's kind of cool I was somewhat from he sticks to the blue label I personally like the blue labels over the Signature Series books there's less of these out there now which i think is great in the blue label because i think some people are like me were they just like the blue label so Batman 423 the same thing there were 91 so I have two of 91 of these is what I kind of documented on video a week or two ago looked on the census this morning there's 89 of them so yeah apparently a couple of them were cracked and went to signature series labels so there were 91 of them couple weeks ago now there's 89 so yeah I was thinking about that does CGC have a process for you know because you see on Instagram people cracking you know there were blue labels and having the stories about how they're sending them in and things like that so it does look like CGC has a process for it you know I would guess if you cracked them at home and you didn't send them the CGC case in I don't think they would account for it I don't think the review real way they could if you didn't send the book in and then CGC itself cracked it and then you know I think for that they do account for it because the CGC sense has changed which was cool usually I see a change but it's always to the upper because there's just more books being graded so to see the numbers go down was I think a really cool detail okay I want to get into should you buy todd mcfarlane CDC Signature Series books after this big you know Signature Series event and you know want to look at it kind of just from a classic like supply-demand perspective I guess a little bit of an analysis because I think right now in the current environment you have a higher demand for these books because there's like the whole promotion that CDC is doing and then people posting their things on Facebook and Instagram and then people see that and then now they want signature series books of Todd McFarlane because they're seeing other people have them like that's I'm a human nature sword works on those behavior so there's a bit of a higher demand right now with the supply because I'm thinking a sort of demand supply analysis here with the supply I think this same or slightly higher right now so you know higher demand is going to jack up prices basically and since there is not too many much more supply because I don't think very many people are gonna get through Signature Series books and then sell them right away maybe they will maybe one or two of them but for the most part they're gonna keep them for about six months or a year enjoy that ownership and then that's when some people I think will start selling if life happens and you need some cash or whatever might be you'll get into those scenarios so right now I think there's a high demand because of all the promo and you know the supply is about the same whereas I think in six months to a year from now which I am gonna recommend to sort of hold off right now I think buying these GGC MacFarland signature books for six months or a year because I think at that point there's going to be normal demand for the books because people are going to forget about the Signature Series event and they're gonna stop sort of sharing them online and the numbers they are now so there's going to be normal demand which will be better prices and even at that point there's a better chance that the market could be flooded with a lot of these signatures talking from the signature books so that's going to be a scenario where the prices will get a lot better a lot better than they are now because right now there's still some promo left over plus people are you know Pro mowing their books on Instagram which gets more people involved in Jax up prices essentially six months to a year from now normal demand and [Applause] yes the what is it there's there's a chance that in six months to a year from now the market can get flooded and when there's lots of supply and the demands kind of normal that's when you're gonna get really really good prices so yeah in a clutch you know a classic scenario here are a classic analysis I guess you could say I you know I would recommend to kind of hold off on buying cgc Todd McFarlane Signature Series books at this time now in you know I do want to talk about and I think it's a good example just to look at one on eBay right now it's a return of Wolverine number one so it's a new variant that McFarlane did and it's a Signature Series book in the CGC 9.8 signed by Todd McFarlane return of Wolverine number one McFarland variant a really cool book and you know I think this book is you know a good example of maybe one that you could go after possibly in this environment because it's I think you know this one's going to be a little bit more rare than some of the classic McFarland keys and I think right now the benefit of just having this talk McFarland event a lot of these books out there is the selection so you're gonna see some sort of pretty rare McFarland signed books that don't come around very often that will come up for an auction so this return of Wolverine number one is on an eBay right now in an option there's three days left and it's at 107 fifty which you know I'm interested in seeing how this auction ends because I think this one's a pretty cool modern rare one to get there's three days left and it's already over 107 50 so I think it could push $200 which you know for a modern book that's not a key just a McFarlane variant I think that's quite a bit when I think about McFarland Barons for modern keys there's I think it was it's just maybe a Symbian spider-man book possibly that is a McFarlane variant and usually in the Blue Label those will go for a little bit over a hundred dollars from you know maybe up to like 120 125 in the Blue Label so this book would probably go through similar to that in the blue label so a signature series at least 50 50 bucks more I would think so my target for this book would be about 175 so we'll see what happens with this price like doesn't reach that price might want to check it out the return of Wolverine number one CDC 9.8 really cool look kind of signature placement I think by Todd McFarlane I think it was just recently signed so you know maybe because of the variety that this signature event is creating like there's just a lot of Todd books right now you might be able to pick and choose a couple but I wouldn't really dive in and buy a say like 5 or 10 CGC signed Todd McFarlane books at this point I think the best thing to do is going to be to wait that six months to a year the promotion's gonna completely die you know they'll be at that point normal demand and you got a really good chance of the supply kind of the market flooding at that time with you know a lot of people sort of enjoying the ownership and then yeah so maybe in a year or two from now we'll be really like I would imagine McFarland books could really go down in price in the next Penna to three years and yeah just conclude an up here I think long term before this sort of CGC McFarland signing I think McFarland signatures were sort of known as rare especially on certain books like he was known to like refused to sign certain books so before this event I think his books were quite a premium in Signature Series books but I think you know with this event and you know how right now there's a lot of demand and a lot of promo for that event but I think this could be peak price for some of these Signature Series books of Todd McFarlane and you know very very long term I'm sort of more bullish on these design McPartlin looks like things are great but in the next two you know after if we wait six months till this whole promotion dies down and then two years from that time I think you got a really good chance of sort of the market flooding at time with the Signature Series books so I think crisis will be you know a little bit less than what we've kind of got used to in the last couple of years where McFarland was known to kind of not sign very many books and I even feel in the last year he really did a lot of cons too he kind of follow him on Twitter and stuff like that and Instagram he seems to like postal up and cons and stuff so I could see his book sort of going the way a little bit of like Clair Chris Claremont books where signed Chris Claremont books because he goes to tons of cons and his books don't cost them he doesn't charge a lot at the cons to get his book signed he's one of the cheapest artist and storyteller he's you know storyteller out there author writers out there so I can see my car looks kind of going that way like you know there's a lot of them now you did this huge event and there's a lot of Claremont book signing books out there too that are made either like 20 25 bucks more than a blue label CGC 9.8 they're not hurt like if just clips Chris Claremont summons it that's one of the cheaper signatures out there whereas a maybe a more expensive one I've noticed was Frank Miller who doesn't do as many cons and a little bit older and doesn't do the circuit as much and doesn't sign as many books I don't think so maybe McFarland going a little bit more towards Claremont rather than Frank Miller signing books because he I think before the signing there was that sort of I felt that McFarland books were rare and yeah certainly if you could get something signed by McFarland or Stanley and yeah that's you know kind of talking about all these crises you know really really long term with McFarland could happen with some like Stanley and like God forbid you know hopefully McCrone lives a little long healthy life but when these guys pass away that the signatures just books signed go up in value like crazy and that happened with Stanley quite a bit so that's kind of one thing maybe keep in mind super super long term so now you know should you buy cgc Signature Series Todd McFarlane books right now I think no I think you want to wait six months and then start looking around for deals and I think I in six months to a year even you'll probably really see you know press is looking really juicy on McFarland CDC Signature Series books and then you can jump right in there and and grab a couple but yeah right now keep in mind that there's going to be a lot of variety right now so maybe a cool book or two you can choose but I wouldn't really dive right in right now I'd wait again that six months to a year and maybe even longer than that you know they'll be I think there's gonna be a pretty big lull in McFarland books in the next couple years and then you know I think long long long long term everything should be just fine McFarland such a legendary artist and he'll get more legendary the older he gets and he seems to be still pretty active and you know maybe a spawn movie comes out in the next 10 years he knows he's been teasing that on Instagram but I think there's been teases before so I don't know how that's gonna turn out but yeah I thought it would make a book about Tommy purlins Signature Series book because I'm seeing some great ones on Instagram and yeah I'd be on Instagram too I got all the links in the description below if you haven't already yeah I didn't bite you to join the team and subscribe to teensy GCU 9.8 hit the bell to get all the latest notifications but yeah I'd love to have you on a comic book collecting team still at the early stages I feel for the channel here still in our first year I think about eight months of course votes up and doing the videos pretty consistently so yeah I'm glad to get a book bara sorry a video explaining these Todd McFarlane Signature Series kind of the market for those books right now because I was thinking a lot about that and to get that interesting detail out there about the census where they do have a bit of a process to get crack blue label books and get them off the blue label senses and over to the Signature Series side of the senses that'll be it for today though thank you very much for watching I'll see you on the next one
