welcome to our channel again this is that some more collectibles my name is Steven rosenbloom and I am the owner so this video today is gonna be about on card autographs which is basically about in-person autographs I did not grow up collecting and sending autographs through the mail so I don't really have an extensive experience chasing autographs but I do understand the hobby of collecting autographs through the mail I was more of an in person pack you know sorry pack pull autograph type person when I was younger opening up you know we made these cart you know packs and trying to get a pack pulled autographs which are you know pretty rare back then they were only seated once a box once every case etc now there I was a lot more common a lot of collectors have in-person autograph collections that they either got through the mail gonna stadiums knew a friend know a guy in a clubhouse knows somebody who knows somebody etc and ultimately there's a huge need in our industry for authenticators because how do you know if an autographs real you know just because your buddy says I got this from somewhere or someone sends you something through the mail you know there's it's a biased source like there's no actual guarantee so the sports collectibles hobby the collectors in the industry overall found a need for Authenticator so there's some major authenticators out there one being PSA another one being JSA and another one being Beckett or known as bgs there's cost of course involved in authenticating the autograph and the cost depends on how rare the autograph is and how much it's worth everyone's about a money grab now and unfortunately so the authentication company so they charge based on how much the market value they perceive is going to be worth so when you go in to authenticate items the authentication fees could range anywhere from say $20 on up to you know thousands of dollars for really rare autographs like Joe Joe Jackson or Babe Ruth etc so today's video is gonna be about why you should authenticate your autographs how you know if they're real where to send them and to show some stuff that we're about to send out for authentication so just want to ask at this point again for you guys to just you know like our video and hit subscribe so the first part is why do you authenticate items obviously you authenticate them because you want them to either be preserved and encapsulated or just simply because you want them to be authenticated so you can go and resell them and know that when you go even if you don't sell them right now eventually when you go and try and sell your autographs you're gonna want to be able to I think you know how you oughta go so that the kid because that's the first question that almost any collector asks is it does it have a CoA does it have a certificate of authenticity does it have an L way a letter of authenticity so the second question is honey know you growing up for real well a lot of people say oh I swear I got this you know I mean I swear I swear I got an autograph 20 years ago on June 12th I mean that's a it's kind of hearsay you know like you don't really remember sometimes and some people say yes you actually did it you might have a photograph of you getting the autograph with an athlete but unfortunately just because you have a photograph there's nothing tying that item to that photograph so you know you can take a photograph of a person getting an autograph and just match another item a similar baseball and say to a blank baseball and just have it forged Yogi Berra and that for example would be you know it matched a photo I'll be signing this baseball but it could be a forgery an outright forgery or it could just be you know Yogi Berra signed this one baseball on this picture but there could be a bunch of other side by someone else at the same exact time so a lot of players have their wife sign or you know their clubhouse managers or secretaries etc so how do you know if your item is real honestly a lot of people say oh I go online and I you know I take this Yogi Berra autograph and I compare it and I hold it up to another Yogi Berra autograph then I try and match the you know pen flow and the sizing and the formation of letters but at the end of the day there are people who literally day in and day out authenticate autographs and those are the people who are truly experts and their opinion is it matters more than an average collectors opinion so you know I have a couple Yogi Berra autographs here for example this is one this is another one and this is another one and you know truthfully I wish I knew yogi bear's autograph as well as I know some other autographs I don't so I don't know if you know this autograph could potentially be pre-printed or this autograph could be secretarial or this autograph could be signed by his wife and of course I could sit here and try and compare the pen flows and all that type of stuff and all the items but at the end of the day these items are much more valuable to collectors if they have authenticity with them so you know the recommended companies that I would recommend as for authentication would be PSA which you can google and find them you can go to JSA and you can go to Beckett and all three of them are very reputable on our industry at this point in time of course things change but that is who in 2019 is considered to be a reputable company every other authentication company is considered to be third tier at least for third-party authentication and you know at the end of the day you know some of the autographs that we're about to send as you can see here are basically autographs that we got out of eighth a Yankee collection and it's came out of a binder and some of these other graphs kind of look and resemble what a graphs i've seen before and other autographs don't I mean you could clearly see that this Ricky Henderson this Ricky Henderson autograph are nowhere near like more than likely one of them is probably not real I don't truly know Ricky Anderson off South my head so I don't know what he looks like but there are other autographs that I can you know be assured that are real and other autographs that I think might be there secretarial like honest I don't know what an airing judge autograph looks like when it's done in person so ultimately you know I own judges many different autographs this could be real could not be real I genuinely don't know you came as part of a bigger deal that I bought and these are pretty much the profit of this collection so you know if these turn out to be real great if they don't they don't but you know that's part of why buying autographs is risky and of course when I buy a collection you know I pay down for autographs that aren't authenticated because they're not worth it now one of the benefits of actually selling to us bigger autograph collections are you know a lot of times I do know whether autographs are real or not and the integrity of a collection could tell me that and we pay because we authenticate in bulk we get bulk rates and that allows us to be competitive so when someone wants to sell their autograph collection I always recommend before they do it please contact us to get an idea of what we would pay before they go on authenticate it because the difference between selling it authenticating and trying to sell yourself and selling it to us there might be a such a major discrepancy plus you don't have to lay out all the money to authenticate your stuff and of course if things fail you don't
