okay guys now it's time to download the Open Text companion I will show you how to do that how to connect to it and walk you through it show you all the neat things that you can do in it and this is going to be for upcoming videos so if you do want to do all the neat things we will be doing in the future because this is something you have to do so if we go online there's going to be two different websites we use throughout this video series one is open TX org the other one is open TX u org in this video we only need open TX org and if we scroll down find news and then you want to download the newest release candidate for the open tax companion at the time you're recording this it's our C 14 but if you do see a newer one you are watching this at a later date then download that one now we just want to scroll down and because I'm using a Windows computer I'll be clicking this one right here but you have a Mac or something else then click one of these so let's just do that and I'm actually going to make a new folder just for open TX and I'll place it there okay once that's done let's go to that folder then click I agree next and next install ok it's done click Next and let's launch open TX it comes up with this warning dialog box don't worry about it just click OK actually before I do anything I'm gonna go to my Program Files and then open TX here's the app so I'm just going to make a shortcut and there it is so now we won't have to look for it every time now as far as your transmitter you can't just plug in USB cable what you want to do is hold both of these in and power it on at the same time and you will get a menu that looks like this you don't have to press anything once we're on this menu just leave it just like that and plug your USB cable in and it's going to say USB connected at this point if you have created any models already then you can click read models and settings from radio this is going to say it's going to convert the files just click OK and here we go this should look like your model setup menu on the trainer's if you go and click the COG this is your other settings we will mess with this in upcoming videos I just want you to be aware of this you can do a profile name if you want I'm not regular type default is the trans X 9 B but I'm going to change this to X 7 you can change the menu language if you want en stands for English splash screen this is going to be a picture that comes up once you turn your trans on we we'll do a custom splash screen in an upcoming video for your SD structure path I'll talk more about this in the next video when we add in an SD card but if you do already have an SD card you can click this anyone choose the structure path that's on whether it's Drive C Drive D Drive e whatever it might be and once you're in both of these on not gonna mess with anything here and not going to mess with anything here then click OK now if we go to our models and double click them we come up with this menu and in this menu you can change absolutely everything you can do through the taranis itself you know pressing the page button and mini button a little scroll wheel you can do everything just like this so right now this first model is just called model 1 I can give it a name I'll just name it JC you can choose a model image well no we can't because we don't have the SD card so that would be a separate video you got your timers this is basically page 2 on your models setup everything is exactly the same then you've got the page 3 which is heli and flight modes inputs so on so on so if you prefer to set your models using this then you can do it that way or if you prefer to do it through the translator you can do it that way once you're done making all your setting changes close that out and then you want to do write models and settings - radio and then that one turn this on right to TX now we're done so we can close this out you don't have to save this I'm just going to do it so it will quit asking me and I'll put this in my open checked folder then close this out disconnect the USB cable then go down to exit and it's going to restart and now we see that my model name changed to JC so that just goes to show you anything you change in the open tags companion it's going to change in here that's going to it for this video guys I just wanted you to get that set up for the future videos like I said before that does it for now thanks for watching I'll see you again soon
