[Music] hello everyone that's EXO ma'am and I have here a Yamaha mm 425 horsepower carburetor it's a carburetor from that motor it's the f25 ELR de 2004 so I'm gonna get right into this this was a tricky carburetor for me to get off of the motor and it probably is the deviling you for the same reason and that is you can get to this screw on the intake but not this it you just can't get to it no matter what tool you have so I'm gonna show you how I took it off first let me see I'm gonna pull out this last screw from the bowl to drop the bowl and let's look at something right there we go well that is why my motor just suddenly would not start it's been sitting for a while and even with non ethanol gas this happened so the gaskets looked good I don't have a rebuild kit on hand I'm gonna see if I can pull the needle out of here just remove this screw in and just run some cleaner through it I'm gonna try not to soak these gaskets with carburetor cleaner I'm gonna be careful because I know that can deteriorate deteriorate your gaskets they don't say that one deteriorate anyway let's get this cleaned up I've got a gas bath here and gonna get some cleaner cuz maybe some pros can tell me exactly what this mushy substance is how that happens to the gas or what gets into it is it scale let's get some discussion on that if anybody can share some knowledge I'm sure it would be appreciated I've seen this mustard many times when I've cleaned carburetors it's like calcium whoosh to me first I'm just kind of cleaning it with starter no we're just kind of brushing it off just get all this mess out before I start pulling things apart pin drop right out didn't it there's our needle so what I will do is spray in the port here let's see where it comes out I [Applause] suspect it's some kind of trash like that little bits of rubber you know something here I'm sorry I just pulled this plug here okay be careful see there's a little trash right on the edge there but I'm being careful a lot of times I just do this kind of riff real cleaning put them back together or whatever small equipment I'm working on just kind of go through the carburetor a little bit put it back together and try it and if it doesn't work just get a rebuild kit or a new carburetor but I normally have pretty good luck we'll see what happens all right you just keep working at this and get all this stuff cleaned up if we can't fire it up and I know how to take it apart again alright check this out these believe it or not are from the 80s and 90s when I was a portrait artist I was also a professional billboard artist in Hollywood and I painted large murals that hung in town records and on Sunset Boulevard Hollywood Boulevard these are some leftover tools that I'm repurposing I know do that work anyway but let's see if we can clean this up yep I'm always your one-handed handyman our night forget it to pour a little of this cleaner on here I hate messing with these chemicals but I'm outdoors lots of breeze try not to breathe this stuff protect it too much you solve all that stuff so you know I'll just kind of work it through the ports that looks good that's flowing through you kind of float back on the film at that blue some starter fluid through here if I use carburetor thing or you start a food I have good luck it's interesting to me to do this kind of work I'm not I'm definitely not a mechanic I do a lot of my own work but there's a lot I don't know but my grandfather was a small engine mechanic after he retired from the railroad he was basically wanted wool from the teens in what he was a child with what he what - he enlisted one serve one retired just after a one or two doing this for extra money itself all right now I'm going to show you first how to take these off I'm going to start by securing this bolt here which is normally the way I take care in our office from the front because when you take it off from the back so here it is this is the back side you see so there's three bolts and go into this whole assembly sits in here very snugly like so can you see that and you screw it in from the backside you'll see when I get everything together there's no way to get in to the backside of this okay there's a better angle yeah I'm gonna do is reattach this I'm gonna reattach this hose should be there yeah we'll get back to that this is throttle yeah there we go that's back now I'm just gonna screw these three bolts back in and that's it really that is about it I just wanted to make this video because there wasn't one there for me and I figured this will help one or two people that are caught in the same bind and it didn't help that I'm out on the water and I can't really see from that angle it wasn't it wasn't quickly obvious they had to approach from that side but let me get this running I'll be this one back in the back here is that it's the toughest one it's not that hard to get to boy if you're working out over the water you get a you better pretend like you're cutting diamonds or something cuz you're gonna drop it very important pieces and parts very carefully like I don't want to pull this out and lose this socket machine and lastly let me not forget you need to connect these wires okay you should two of them here connect to here oh and let me go let me go back to the beginning I love doing things completely backwards like this originally I wasn't sure where my problem was I thought it was my my fuel line which I replaced at the cost of $60 because there was a rupture in that end end of the line like that that's for another story another time but anyway I replaced the line when I tried to crime the bulb oh I have not connected the gas line how did I forget that back in you can't see it but anyway when you're pulling this out you'll you'll see the gas line isn't attached to it anyway so I as I was saying I was priming this and it it was not getting solid the ball was not getting solid and so then I had to trace the fuel and I'd loosen this screw on the carburetor and I noticed that the gas was getting through it was episode I don't think he didn't think it was the pump any longer the fuel pump was another thing I suspected so I don't favor suspecting this too suspecting the fuel pump to suspecting the carburetor which is you know working your way up the line so now I think I have resolved the problem but we shall see if she fires up and I've got to lower the boat because the tide is going out can't run your boat without circulation [Music] [Music] [Applause] now alright at least we've got it running a little bit I hope that this backwards video helped you out with your yamaha four-stroke 90s older engine and we'll we'll pick this up once I get it running thank you for watching
