so my electric bike wind turbine had just been sitting on the tower for a few weeks so i decided that as it was going to be very windy because of storm bella that it would be cool to get it up and flying again and see what it could do when the tower first went up it was not pointing in the right direction so i had to use this great big bit of plastic pipe that i have to switch it round 180 degrees and then it started spinning properly it has three blades at the front and five blades to get it the right way with my fishing rod turbine will run better with two sets of three blades but unfortunately i had a fire and it melted yeah it appears to be going blade hub which was made out of aluminium with two sets of three blades it certainly will spin a lot faster which when we're trying to run a motor that's quite hard to get decent amount of power out of that's what you want i've made some notes with some kind of conclusions that i'll just read through so firstly i think the overall design is very good for high winds it's very stable as long as you've got the blades on there properly and everything's bolted up you won't have any problems this particular one does need better blades and hubs because they're very old and battered it's hard to start in low winds particularly when using the bigger gear from the drive shaft i think it looks cool as a design with two sets of blades and again one of the reasons it can take very high wind speeds so if you take it and try and spin it with your hand it's quite difficult be powering your house what it would do is if you had a very windy remote area then you could put this turbine up and you'd get enough power um throttle but you know you don't know how long it's going to last for do you really this is a close-up view of the front of the motor which shows the chain and the bracket again just coming back to that point the motor is very hard to turn without a load it's fairly heavy i'd say it's about 8 kilos i haven't weighed it pretty easy to get secondly and if you're thinking you could use a 24 volt or 30 64 you definitely could but they're just not able to withstand a lot of problems i think the 48 volt by designing it will be a lot tougher as i said before it's quite hard to start in low winds and it's in a 10 mile an hour wind as it's shown here it just wouldn't have hopefully soon make way for the thanks for watching i've made a list of positives and negatives which i've probably already gone over the first positives very solid high wind no problems and no need for a braking system individual design it's fairly low cost can be run a different speed and tracks the wind superbly on the negative side it needs the high wind to get going sometimes it needs to be pointed into the wind you won't get much in low winds out of this the blades and hubs are not very well aligned but pretty much because they're old and battered and the tower definitely needs some work to it so that's the positives and negatives thank you for watching you
