Fax guest signed

hello welcome to show me how today we're going to send the facts before we get into it i want to talk a little bit about what is a fax well um it's a shortened version of the word facsimile and what a facsimile is is an exact duplicate of something which is usually applied to paperwork and fax machines are very old the the very original ones were made like the 1800s but they were popular long before the internet back in the 80s they were really at their height of popularity you still see them a lot today in doctor's offices any kind of medical fields legal insurance they still like to use fax machines so fax machines do not rely on the internet the way a fax machine works is you have two fax machines and they're connected by telephone line and one fax machine you'll feed a paper into it it will make a basically a digital copy of it and then dial across the telephone line to the other fax machine and transmit that information so that that paper can be duplicated by the other fax machine so they don't rely on the internet they rely on telephone lines so if someone tells you that they want you to send them a fax you have to get a fax number from that for their fax machine and don't always rely on getting it off of the internet because you can search and a lot of times you can find a business's fax machine fax number but for example this facility that i work in we have one phone number so when you call every phone in the building rings we have three fax numbers because we have different fax machines spread out through the building and if you're faxing something to an insurance company or medical it might contain sensitive material and you want to make sure it gets to the right place so you want to make sure that you're faxing to the right number also on those lines oftentimes when you're faxing you're going to want to put a fax cover sheet on your fax now you can pre-print ones this is one that's i've cut off some personal information there but this is one that's been pre-printed you can also just fill out a blank sheet of paper and put the information on but what a cover sheet is is a sheet of paper that contains some information to from the date and number of pages including the cover sheet in this case so if i were going to send this to someone in an insurance company there might be hundreds of employees and i want to make sure the right one gets my information so if you put a cover sheet on and you put their name and you put from then when it arrives at the destination they know who it goes to who it's from the number of pages sometimes pages can get lost in the transmission so if i were to send 10 pages and then i put this cover sheet i would put a number of pages 11 including cover then so when it got to the other end if i if they only had nine pages and i said 11 they would know that two were missing and they would know to contact me to resend it so now let's go send the fax okay now we are going to send our fax this is our fax machine this is actually a combination unit fax and copy machine it'll do both so it's asleep right now it actually says deep sleep here you see nothing's lit up you got to push a button to turn it on so you push any button and it will wake up you see now it's lit up facts you have to select either fax or copy you want to make sure you get the right one if you hit copy and then you start entering in your fax number uh 1 and 606 and a bunch and you hit it and you hit copy instead of fax you're going to be trying to make like a million copies and it's just going to start spitting them out so you want to make sure and hit fax and then we'll load in our paper and dial our number and hit start but i want to show you where you load the paper first so our paper loads in up here in this slot and it loads face down and you can see that symbol right there and if you look at that symbol close what it's supposed to represent is a piece of paper like this see this is blank the folded part has writing on it so well it's demonstrating to load the paper in face down that's kind of a universal symbol you see that on a lot of faxes and copy okay so now we're going to load our paper in here here and the fax light is lit up and then we're going to dial our number once our number's ended we hit start the paper is going to feed through it's going to scan and then you're going to hear the phone pick up in here at dial the other fax [Music] machine now they're talking and now the information is being sent to the other fats and that's how the fax is sent now most fax machines will give you some sort of a confirmation after the fax has been sent so right now this is saying sending so it's currently sending the page and now it says completed and it's done the facts were sent over now sometimes some machines this one in particular does will print a piece of paper out to show you if the facts went through or not or if there was some kind of a problem with it um unfortunately this thing sometimes takes 10 or 15 minutes to print that out so i'm not going to wait for that but the facts have been sent it's through and we're good to go so thanks for watching if you have any questions or anything else that you want to see on show me how you can email me my email is in the link or it's show me how guy gmail.com thank you
