hello everyone happy national scrapbook day I'm here with a really quick tutorial on this envelope punch tool why we r memory keepers but we're not making envelopes today we're making mini file folders how cool are these file folders guys so if you have cardstock and you have this tool you can make file folders to whatever size you want ah before I get started on this I have to give full and total credit to Miss Diane she watches my youth stream classes and she's was playing around with her tool and she discovered this fun way to use to maximize the use of our envelope punch tool just not for envelopes so I'm not gonna say her last name because I don't know she would appreciate that but Diane you know who you are everybody in my ustream class knows about Diane so she emails me her instructions and her or she mailed me excuse me and her samples look at how wonderful guys you can make these fabulous file folders on the left hand bank the center Bank and of course the right hand bank so let's get started i'm starting off with an eight-and-a-half by eleven sheet of cardstock I scored it right down the middle right down the middle at five and a half inches I had to think about that so these are the measurements for the center tap alright so for the center tab you want to insert your paper on the 8 and a half inch side and you want to find the 2 and 3/4 inch measurement so 2 and 3/4 inches and you want to punch ok then you're going to flip it over to the opposite side and insert it once again to the 2 and 3/4 inch mark and punch do you see the magic happening so far there it is then all you have to do mm oh and you can do it just might as well go ahead and do it on the other side so flip it on over to the other side and do it again and again the measurement is two or three quarter inches okay so to make the file folder design on one side you're going to want to cut away at least three eighths of an edge okay so you're going to want to cut the outside flaps out on one side so I'm going to position my ruler at 3/8 of an inch I'm gonna hold it down firmly and I'm just going to cut the outside tabs ah since what happens when your ruler doesn't have a cork backing so let's position that again sorry for that little screen drama central alright so one more time let's cut away so you see that there you have your tab side so you can either round these corners or make a cute little file folder design I'll show you that in a second and for the other side what you want to do is remove the center tab okay so let's do that so we'll position once again at 3/8 of an inch right heel and now let's remove the center tab and what that gives us is that perfect spacing and do a really good job there see that how fun so there you have it guys you have a file folder so you can either round your corners oh and I clearly scored mine incorrectly sorry about that so make you make sure you score right in half so you can either do the rounded corner see your tab right there or if you please sit back into your tool there is a a point right here you're going to notice that there see this point thing right here I see that point right there you're going to position your corner right in the center of that point just like so and if you punch again how cool is that little design right there that you get hello genius Diane genius thank you for sharing this us Diane does not have a YouTube channel or a blog so I get the privilege I'm so honored that she allowed me to show that share this with you all so once you score properly obviously this room this will all line up so let me just redo my mobile score mark here yes I clearly screw that up and I think I did them all the same so if you line everything up then this is what you get use my fabulous burnishing tool or bone folder okay so there is your thoughtful door how neat is that so you have either of these fancy edge or you have the rounded edge whatever you want guys but I think this is such a fantastic idea and what I love about it gives us another use for our punch tool not just making envelopes so now let me take you through the left and right hand bank so again for the center tab you're going to position your paper out the two and three-quarter inch mark fold it on over two and three-quarter inch mark for the left and right hand bank I like you to position your paper at three inch mark tada okay and then your corner remember that little try that point right there position it right in the center of the triangle all right right in that peak and punch see that do the same thing on the opposite side so three inch mark and then right there in the center and to the fabulous so now once again I'm just dropping things all over the place you're going to decide whether you're going to cut away the long side or the top first so if you cut the tab off first the other side you're going to cut away the long side okay so just pay attention to that don't do the same thing on both sides because then you'll you'll screw it up people all right so here I'm choosing to cut off the tab first and I'm going to do that so here I'm going to choose to cut away the long side and I have a perfect file folder every single time I mean really thank you so much I can't see thank you my not because I think this is so cool there you have it people and of course you want to score properly I did not screw up school properly and do it this way so this is the same measurement for the right and left hand side that's the easy part so hard let me score it's easier to just score it over hold on where's my scoring tool right here okay so I actually made the three score line Center and then a quarter into the left and a quarter inch to the right and it actually looks you know the file folder has a three or four score lines I think that's so smart so if you do those score lines it'll really look like a file folder alright and with all of the file folder craze that we have going on I think this is just such a neat idea alright guys so there's your file folder so again you can choose to make the fancy file folder edge or you can just round your corners okay so or you can do something fancy like using one of your we are memory keepers chompers and you can do a little scalloped edge if you just want to get it all make it all fancy you can go ahead and do that but for this one I'm just going to go ahead and round these corners show you what that looks like have some glue there so I really hope you all enjoy this tutorial and if you do not have this punch tool it is by we are memory keepers and it's called the a little punch tool so sit there it is there's the left-hand side you flip it over and you do this and you have yourself the right-hand side so where's my Center 1 so here is your central bank your left hand and flip it on over or the right hand sorry and you flip it on over and you have yourself the left hand bank so I think this is just so fabulous and such a wonderful way to maximize our tools so thank you so much Diane for sharing it with all of us this is Kathy with paper phenomenon and have a wonderful happy national scrapbook day and I hope you all join me tonight at 7 p.m. central - we're gonna work on this wonderful project right here guys on my Ustream channel I'll leave a link for you all below alright guys thank you so much
