hello the purpose of this video is to show how to use V managed to issue a self-signed certificate to a V edge instance you've already installed this does not use the bootstrap configuration option as that would in ESX require you to then create an ISO and deploy the V edge that way in this case I already have deployed of the edge which I've named UUID change because I wanted to show that that's probably the number one question that comes up with this is when I deploy a V edge in ESX it automatically generates a UUID and that ye UID will not match the chassis number UUID that is in the tokens that you've been given as part of your deployment so you see here what I did is I had 10 V edge cloud tokens that were deployed excuse me that I imported with my B edge list then I deployed one of these and it has already created the V edge cloud connection that we see here I'm going to go ahead and start using the next one in the list here as I build these out so I have nine more and I'll be using those what we can look at right here is in the vSphere web thus UUID change when I've listed if I go into this one and take a look at it I type admin admin as the default username password if I look at this guy and I can see his UID is ending in two three to seven dB so if we look at that 7 DB ending I go back and look over here you'll see that I have none of them with a 7 DB so that one is not in this list of devices that were already deployed so what I am going to do then is when I go back into here look at this guy with his UID being incorrect for what I need for the token I'll do a show run system you can see I have not configured anything on there he's still set to default for the ztp mm however if you do look at you can zero the default configuration has given him an address IP address 10 200 543 that came from DGP server if I look right here you can see he's just set for DHCP no information there it's the default setting so what I'm going to do to make it easier is I'm going to go ahead and create a management interface I have set up a management network in my environment so I can log into this guy and I can actually paste the you know the UID that I'm going to be changing it to rather than actually typing that in so I haven't done anything in here ahead of time to try and show you the full setup so I'm going to go to make this guy 78 since I may be the last one 77 and once we get this back I should now be able to ping in VPN 512 no one to 101 so maybe for Gateway I can so I should be good here not need to use this interface anymore which will be handy as I go through set this up so there's the 77 so I was logged into that let me login to 78 now and I'm in so same one let's look at the configuration we can see here just the default be gtp configuration and interface ke 0 0 with just that basic information there plus you know 512 which I added so again if I do show certificate serial you'll see that it's not installed giving up and that is my chassis number or my UUID and if I do a show control local properties you can see here that I have you know no real information I've no system IP no token and I do have no certificate installed and I've got that chassis number we already saw up here right go underneath into 7 DB so what we're going to do next is now that we have that VH applied I'm going to go ahead and go back to my view manage I need to take this chassis number and this token and request that that V edge log in here and get a certificate signed so what you have to do to copy and paste those you have to download it which I've just done going to go ahead now and open this up there if look right here I'm going to expand these and that's good enough so 1 1 3 5 that's what I want so I'll go ahead and copy that now I will jump back down here I'm going to do a reaction that's before I do this sorry jumping the gun here aren't I so before I do that let's go ahead and set all the system information up so I know how to get back to the V manage so what we're going to do it here is go into system we're going to go ahead and go give this a well I can type system IP of 10.12 1.78 I'm going to use we're going to give it a site ID of 78 we're going to give it a V bond and my case of 10.50 10.1 o 1 and that should be all I need I've assisted my piece Ida you own a mayorga name my organization name is home oops not home home - labs my organization name so those are the pieces I put in there so if I look at that config it's I'm adding my system IP my site ID my organ a I'm going to go ahead and do that now if I look at my system setup you'll see that detail here I mean you can change your host name obviously if I'm not worried about that right now if I now do a show control local properties we can see that I now have this information for my system IP for my DNS name for my V bond everything's in there my old name is still in there my old chassis number so now I want to go ahead and I do my request the edge cloud activate and then I'm going to go ahead and put in the chassis number that I'm going to be using the chassis number I want it to change to which again was this one on one three five number so I'll go back down here and I'll paste that in and the token I'm going to use is token right next to it right so I will grab this copy that I will paste that information so now what I'm doing once I've got my V bond information put in there going to say viage cloud activate chassis number based on the one not the one that it has I'm not going to try and assign that this chassis number is assigned or matched with this token I'm going to go ahead and request that out so I will send that in there now if I do a show control local properties we can see here we have no certificate installed we see the token number the chassis number unique ID the system IP we see all that information out there so it's going to take in a minute we'll go ahead and do a show certificate serial and we can sail together to take a minute the serial number before it's at giving up waiting now it has a serial number so if I look at the local properties hit enter look my token is now invalid whereas if I scroll full of it you can see that I had a token I had no certificate installed but down here now I have a certificate installed so my certificate is now valid and it's installed I now have that as my chassis number so I did a show stupid local properties or show certificate serial number here is my chassis number and then one one one three five let's scroll up a little bit to go and find the old one chassis number one one three five is my request there's my old chassis number write it with a 2 3 2 7 DB so what I have done in using is using it as a self-signed method from be managed I've actually changed my UUID so show control local properties again my new you new UUID it's ok for the token to be invalid because I've already use a token I now the serial number assigned and if I go back to V managed we can see right here let's refresh this it may refresh it on its own by then but yeah so the 1 1 1 3 5 is now 10 1 178 is in sync and I am connected so this one is now certified and installed and that is all you need to do to make that work
