hello guys welcome to our apartment hunting video part 2. as you know i'm looking for a new apartment here in japan so that we could have more space to work and store my products i'm happy to say that at the end of this video we did end up finding a place and the whole process took us about two to three weeks which i think was pretty fast but at the time it felt very very long because every single day we were just looking on our laptops and checking out hundreds of properties so i am so glad that this is all over i'll put a link in the description to the first video where i talked about our requirements and stuff like that and we also checked out some apartments there as well if you're interested okay let's have a look at the places basically after seeing this place we were sold and we were going to apply for it but then they sent us the initial fees and it was just well i think we were just unprepared in the previous video i mentioned that moving in japan can be quite expensive because of the moving fees it's usually four to six times the amount of your rent and this usually includes one to two months worth of deposit which you might get back partially when you move out and the rest of the fees are like guarantoffees insurance fees key money and other fees that you don't get back at all so it really varies place to place depending on their rates and what fees they require i don't know what it's like in other countries so maybe you guys can let me know how it works where you're from so yeah the fees for this place was quite high and when we factor in the fact that we would still have to pay for the moving company and also we had to pay one month rent for our current apartment because the rental period would be overlapping the overall cost would probably be over ten thousand dollars and even though this place was really really nice we felt like it was a little bit too much for us at this time after this we were quite disappointed and we thought maybe we'll just find a bunch of properties that we like online first and ask for the moving fees before we actually go and check them out so we spent a couple of days looking at real estate websites and inquiring about a bunch of places we found out that a lot of the ones that we liked which covered most of our requirements had pretty high moving fees so at this point honestly i started getting a bit stressed out because i felt like it was gonna be impossible and we had to make a lot of adjustments also it was really hard because one of my requirements is access to the post office which you have to look up individually and sometimes they don't even list the exact building location so it was just impossible and then suddenly this new listing popped up and it was right in the middle of a very central location it was super affordable and it was like too good to be true so we immediately booked to see it right on the day the balcony was facing other balconies in the building in the same building and i don't know the building was just not well maintained at all the neighbors were putting rubbish and furnitures on the corridor and like it was just not it the realtor that showed us this place happened to be one of the realtors that we met in the first video so then she invited us to come back to her office and we could search for more places there together so we went with her and then together we spent probably over two to three hours looking through more properties and i really have to say thank you to her because she was so patient and after we narrowed down to about 10 places she helped me individually looked up each apartment on google maps so that i could see the distance to the nearest post office and finally after everything we were left with just two places which we were going to check out the following day and i don't know why but after leaving the real estate i was starting to doubt myself and i felt like i needed to rethink what i actually wanted i think at that point i saw so many property listings and they were just they all started to look the same to be honest and i was trying to find a compromise so i started getting confused about how many rooms or how much space i actually wanted i was telling masa how unsure i was feeling and he was asking like oh should we just cancel those appointments so that we could think about it some more but at the end we thought okay we spent so much effort to look for these two places with a realtor we might as well just go and see it and at the very least maybe it will give us some more ideas about what we need the first one we saw that day was actually really really nice it was a two bedroom with a spacious ldk area the living room was getting so much natural light it wasn't facing any other buildings and i loved the mint colored kitchen i thought that was like so cute we felt like this would work really well for us and we were ready to apply for this place actually but we thought okay we'll just go see the other place just in case what we realized later was that we both actually felt really off about this place but we were both thinking that it was the best that we found so far and i i don't know it was a really nice and bright place but there were these little things for me the place smelled really really bad from the first moment that i entered the building and then when i mentioned that to everyone like everyone was smelling different things and then even though the realtor said that the place has already been cleaned um it was kind of dusty and there were little dead insects at the corners of the rooms so it felt like the place has already been vacant for quite a long time and i mentioned this to masa days later about how weird i felt there and then he was like oh my god me too and we we kind of both got a bit spooked out by it and i'm glad that we didn't go for it and then the last place that we saw okay it's gonna be obvious that we got this place because i'm gonna blur all of the windows they had just renovated the floors so it made the place really nice and bright it had the same floor space as the other apartment we just saw but it it wasn't as open because it was divided into three rooms but i don't know i i didn't mind it it also had a small storage room which would be very useful for me to store products we loved that it had two balconies and this place is closer to the city than the other apartments but it wasn't too close to any other nearby buildings and it wasn't facing any other windows and it was actually really quiet and private so we liked that it was also well located for the both of us and honestly i don't know why but when we went in we just we just really liked it and we just decided to apply for it right away rent-wise it doesn't seem too different from the first apartment that we saw in this video but when you compare all the fees we actually saved quite a bit of money so it's going to be good for us because we're moving from a 1k to 3dk and so we will need to get more furniture so yeah i'm gonna be moving in a couple of weeks and we are super super excited and i want to thank you guys for playing a part in making this happen whether you watched my video or like my stuff or brought something from my shop or being a part of my patreon it's because of you guys that we could make this next step so thank you so much guys and thank you so much for watching this video and i'll see you guys next time bye you
