some of the most impressive things with modern day digitizing software are things that happen behind the scenes that you're not even aware of how objects are automatically created and pathed without you having to do it manually i wouldn't even be aware of these either if i hadn't been around well these tools were being developed and evolved over the years one tool that i was just amazed at when it became available was something called complex fills most of you digitize a fill these days and it automatically generates on screen but you don't really know the hows and why so that's what we're going to dive into right now now this was brought to my attention because one of our members in one of our facebook groups generated a fill on screen and they saw this little line appear that looked different from all the other fill stitches now the first thing i want to say is what you see on screen and what you get when it sews out are two entirely different things you probably won't even see that line appear when it actually sews out on the machine the rendering that the software gives you is very much different than the actual results but i want to dive in as to why those lines are appearing because complex fills the stuff that's happening automatically there's a lot of mathematics that goes into how to sequence them properly and that's where i will be the first to admit that that is what makes some software programs better than others is how it logically pass those fills some do it very well others will leave gaps and overlaps that really don't look that good when it actually sews out on the machine so now we're going to go back in time a little bit because in the old days when we would generate a complex fill that has a strange shape like this where there's a lot of ins and outs we would have to take that piece of artwork and the first thing we would have to do is choose the stitch angle and then if there was multiple objects within that angle we would have to draw multiple stitch angles to divide them so that we can break them apart into individual parts because you couldn't just digitize an entire object and allow for all of these overlapping pieces to be done as well i would have to choose that i would choose my angle first then i would choose my start position and my stop position and i would also try to make sure that the direction of the stitches always stayed consistent from the top to the bottom or from the bottom to the top then i would choose number one two three four and five and i would have to digitize each of those objects independently making sure that the directions would flow properly now the reason why i chose number...
