getting a Ukrainian perspective on the war has never been more important as Russian propaganda continues to weaponize information and amplify its imperialistic genocidal narratives through social media platforms today I am speaking with Maria romanenga another strong voice to explain the Ukrainian point of view and how her country is striving to maintain its independence and identity welcome to Silicon podcast please like And subscribe to increase the popularity of our content in YouTube's algorithm and to get alerts about the latest videos when they're published Maria romanienka is a TV presenter journalist and writer from Ukraine and host of the YouTube channel uh host of the YouTube show Ukrainian Flames for the Ukraine crisis Media Center she's now living and working in Manchester contributing to Media Outlets such as the guardian Reader's Digest ITV and BBC Maria runs free Manchester walking tours for ukrainians and will be performing on stage in London on the 16th of January 2023. well let's start with that tell me a bit about the stage show I think it's called Premiere 5am it's performing in London and I'm definitely coming along to see it could you tell us a bit more about it yes um yeah so it is called Crimea 5am um I was uh written by Natalia borgevit who is a famous Ukrainian uh screenwright playwright um and I was just approached by Dash Arts uh which is like a culture company based in London and they doing this show and they support it by Ukrainian Institute and British Council and they asked me if I wanted to take part and um I looked at it and it's all about the consistent human rights violations that Russia does in occupied Crimea since since the occupation since 2014 primarily against Grammy and tatas and that's what the play is really about because chromie and the tars have been having a really really rough time since the occupation had been persecuted just for sort of not agreeing to the occupation not agreeing with the government and sometimes it's just for for living their lives really because they're not Russian they don't consider themselves Russians so sometimes all it takes is just to be a crime and they'll persecute you and a kid might be in the middle of the night and the name is obviously 5 a.m because a lot of this things happen in the middle of the night or very very early in the morning um and um so that the play will be there will be professional actors and there will be people like me and there will be Peter Dukes who is the editor of byline group byline media um and Alexandra ho ho who's a former UK diploma and now she also does journalism and she has written for byline times so I'll be there on the Ukrainian um in the performance um which um I think will be an interest in uh experience for me I'm not...
