hey everyone welcome back in dialer right here how are you doing guys i hope you're all doing good and for today's video i'm going to share with you my experience on updating my social security record so after your naturalization ceremony your immigration officer will give you this envelope or they will mail you this envelope so in this envelope includes your naturalization certificate and some pamphlets or leaflets and one of the leaflets that they're going to include is this congratulations on becoming a us citizen and at the back of this these are the steps that you can do after becoming a us citizen you can apply for a u.s passport which i already did and i've showed you in one of my previous videos and then update your social security record which i did recently and then register to vote i did this last month i registered online it was easy and quick and i actually sent in my ballot last month for the upcoming midterm election and then update a certificate of citizenship for your child and sponsor family members to come to the united states so yeah those are the steps that you can do after becoming a us citizen so i remember when i first got here in the united states this was my first social security card and at the top of this it has a note saying valid for work only with dhs authorization yeah and this was issued december 5th 2018. so this actually is not laminated it's just a plastic cover so yeah after your naturalization guys your naturalization ceremony you have to wait at least 10 days as it says here wait at least 10 days after your ceremony before updating your social security record this will give them time to process and this will also give you time to receive your naturalization certificate so you can update your social security record by mail or you can walk into a social security administration office i'm not sure if you can do it online i tried doing it online but it didn't allow me so i decided to walk into a social security administration office so yeah it was it was easy so the requirements that they need you to bring before going to social security administration office you have to have your proof of citizenship so you have to bring your uh naturalization certificate or your u.s passport or you can bring both your naturalization certificate and u.s passport and also you have to have evidence of identity so it's either your driver's license state id or your u.s passport and then evidence of age you can bring your birth certificate and other documents that are listed in here and then a form filled out form ss-5fs so on how to fill out this form i will show you at the later part of this video so for my experience when i went to the social security administration...
