the purpose of this video is to familiarize you with the process you'll follow to complete a remote online notarization before you meet virtually with your notary they will prepare the documents electronically for signing and notarizing they will also schedule a time to meet with you to perform the notarization the entire process can be done using your computer and a smartphone or just a smartphone you will require a webcam or a phone's forward-facing camera and either a us driver's license a state issued id card or a us passport lastly you'll need to have a credit history in order to provide you knowledge based questions the first thing you'll receive are two emails one email will invite you to a zoom meeting unless your notary has informed you you'll be using an alternative virtual meeting platform the other email you'll receive will be titled your documents are ready to review it is important not to click the link on this email until you have already joined the virtual meeting with your notary once you have joined the virtual meeting they'll ask you to click the link on the second email this will open up your web browser where you'll be asked to agree to legal consent and enter in your social security number and date of birth it's important to know that this is a required step in performing a remote online notarization however your notary will not be able to see this information and it is not stored in the synx platform once this information is entered you'll be asked five knowledge based questions you'll have two minutes to answer all five questions and you must get at least four correct once you complete the kba questions if you're on a computer you'll be prompted to enter in your phone number to receive a text message or email to your phone this will provide you a link to open the second authentication method here you'll be required to choose where your documents have been issued and which document you'll be using then it will ask you to take a photo of your id you'll want to take the photo directly over the id minimize glare and use a black background be careful not to crop any part of your id once the upload is successful you should return to your original page you'll create a password and choose the font you like your signature to appear in then you'll be taken to the documents to sign and your notary will explain the rest of the process from here
