alright guys so you may be aware of certain special codes you can type in your phone that do certain stuff for example star 67 blocks your caller ID for your next call and star 69 will return the phone call to whoever just called you but there are actually a lot of other types of these codes called vertical service codes and they do all sorts of different stuff depending on your country but some of them are pretty useful now I'm not going to go into all these you can look at the list yourself but I wanted to talk about what I thought were the most interesting ones and you probably do have to pay to add some of these services to your phone and that's if they are available at all with your phone company but it still should be fun the first one is star 57 known as malicious caller identification if you ever get four assing phone calls or something like that this one will be good to know what happens is someone will call you and then you hang up and then pick it back up and type star 57 and then the phone company will store all the metadata for your most recent phone call coming in so that it can be later used as a trace or for police evidence if you do use it you have to file a police report to actually get it traced otherwise nothing will happen and yes this will actually work even if someone is blocking their caller ID usually you do have to pay for this service and you have to sign up for it ahead of time although I don't think it's that expensive each time you use it it might be like 50 cents or something like that the next code is star 85 this disables caller ID so you will show up as a private number this isn't as useful these days with cell phones because usually there's no caller ID for cell phones but if you do have a landline this could be useful and then to re-enable it you would type in star 65 and I would turn it back on and if you are wondering blocking caller ID doesn't always work in some circumstances for example all toll-free numbers like 1-800 866 all those and emergency lines like 911 Ani known as automatic number identification you can kind of think of it like super caller ID so even if you're blocking caller ID they can still see the number that's coming through the next one is star 77 anonymous call rejection this one's pretty self-explanatory and I think it only works on landlines but what happens is if someone calls in and they have their caller ID blocked it doesn't even ring your phone it just gets blocked automatically so if you're getting a lot of calls annoying ones from blocked numbers then that would be good to...
