the data import wizard is an interesting feature within Salesforce the trail head actually shows it two different ways this is in the data management import/export you could also find it in the data management import data so I'm just going to take you through this one real quick the first thing it talks about here besides launching and you can kind of figure out how to get that to work but first I wanted to show you what a CSV file and this is a comma separated value file I'm just using an OpenOffice but it would open as a CSV within Microsoft Excel as well and what you're seeing here is it's a comma separated lots of other features we could talk about but these are the fields that it's is looking to pull in so it's just first name last name cell email salutation and title and this also has 21 rows which is interesting I'll show you that why that's in a second but let's say God fine okay we're gonna we're gonna import that you can we can show how that works out but me let's say once you once you've gotten that in what you want to be able to then do is it talks about kind of launching the system so we're gonna we're gonna launch it and then what you're going to do is you're going to navigate to the data import wizard and certainly you can always stand it here as a as a field search but if you can know how to then to navigate you can find out there's other things like big objects isn't going to show up or kind of other fields that that didn't include the word data so know that you can use Quick Find but I'd always recommend you then navigate to as you can learn it so once we've done that we're gonna launch the data import wizard this is the screen that comes up when it comes up to it's a little bit ambiguous you're not quite sure what you need to be doing here what you'll find is if you roll down there's good introductory text and then what it does is it brings you down here to this which is to launch the Wizards this is role of the objective here and so you one have prepared the data for import which is the CSV file we've downloaded and so it's gonna take you through it so we're gonna click Launch and what that does is to bring up this screen which says the first thing you want to do is to choose data and you the default is standard objects but if we look at the custom objects and again this is a dead Borg so there's other objects that you would have built through trail had that kind of thing but let's say we're gonna start with the standard objects so we're gonna click accounts and contacts we can do add new or we could just add existing make close this again if we could also update existing records or you could add new and update which is the absurd version but we're going to just do add new for now it talks about it in the in the instructions what it says is to use name for matching contact records and so what we're going to do is to match on name doesn't talk about account but account you could also there could be matching around name and site anyway we're going to work with this but the other checkboxes would be around triggering workflows and assigning contacts to campaigns against azure advanced features you can learn about what you need to but then you want to bring up your CSV so you can either drag it or if you click here what that allows you to do is to browse for it and you can say ok so we're actually going there so what I'm going to do is to to open it here and what you'll find is is that it then shows up right here so that tells you that it's been done and then it's it's value separated by commas or tabs we saw that it was kind of looking at the file we can then click Next and what that does is to bring up this screen which says ok now you want to be editing your field mapping so you're going to see there's three options here you can play with by clicking mapping you're going to then get and what you're seeing here is these are the records to start with the account object fields name field names if you scroll through those you actually get then to the contacts and then what you're also seeing is these aren't in alphabetical order they're more in kind of a kind of a field order and so then the name is is right up front so we're gonna click you know first name and last name and then the other one work I get is mobile and so we're gonna select those as we need to but let's just do first name just so I show you're starting one and then I'm gonna say map now the only other thing to know is is for example if what you've got is is you're not seeing the stuff down below you could really can't even navigate to it what you have to do is to reduce the size of your screen I'm holding down control and touching - or changing the scale so I can get to a map field here and say great so I can map it and I'm just gonna take it back up so we know what what it looks like there and make it fullscreen again but so just know that if you didn't see it that's what's going on it allows you now you can map you can also see the examples of what information they're actually pulling the cross so we have that all done we can then click import what you're going to see is this is the number of fields they're pulling across and these are the unmapped fields so we know we're OK there but we're gonna say start the import it's gonna say ok great you're done so click OK and then I'm gonna click OK and it's going to tell me that and I can see I'm still enlightening it's told me that's done this and then it's brought through 20 records and then what I'm able to do is to actually go back to this and say ok let me check my challenge and see if it worked and what it does then is to come back and tell me that everything is wonderful let me see here's the message so we know it all worked thanks and now we're going to talk about how to export data
