How to individually sign

so you spent hours days weeks even making your tune you love it you're ready to send it to a label you want to get it signed but a lot of you are making quite a few big mistakes and i'm here to tell you what they are and what you can do about them welcome back to another episode of rewire unplugged let's go you ready here come okay guys let me just start off by saying i have had years of experience at this i am an artist myself i'm an artist manager so i'm very used to sending demos sending demos on behalf of other people i know how to do it and on the flip side i'm also a label manager if you didn't know i'm stereo hypes label manager and i receive a serious amount of demos not weekly every single day so i know exactly what i want to see and especially why don't so what i can tell you is that most of you unfortunately are doing it the wrong way yes you do need to send it by email don't go pestering anr's on their phones because that will just lead you to not only getting ignored but literally getting blocked that's the last thing you want to happen but never fear i have got some tips for you right now that's going to increase your chances of getting your music heard and ultimately signed which is what you want right let's go okay guys tip number one the very first most important thing is know who you are sending your music to know the label know the labels general sound do not be sending a dubstep tune to a minimal house label obviously it's not going to work they're not going to be interested you're not going to get signed it's simple but you'd be surprised how many people still make that mistake know the label that you're sending it to number two this one is so so vital if you mess this up you're not even getting past this step email everyone individually if i receive an email and there's 10 other labels cc'd in on that same email i do not want to know unless you're tiesto i'm not even going to pay you any more time a day that tune is no longer exclusive and that's it that's the end of the road for that tip number three do not attach an mp3 or a wav to an email i am not going to download something from someone i don't know onto my computer i have no idea what's on that i'm not downloading it so therefore i'm not even going to listen to it that moves me on to tip number four i see a lot of you making this mistake send a soundcloud link that way you know if the tune's been listened to i can go and listen to the tune on soundcloud privately knowing that no one else has listened to that tune if i go onto your soundcloud link and see 50 plays on it i'm not interested i need to know that i'm the only person listening to that track make it exclusive make it private send a soundcloud link and if you want extra bonus points on that what you should do is actually put the label name in the title and description so we know it's only coming to us because you would never have sent that to another label that's going to get you ahead trust me right tip number five i believe give your track a quick master it doesn't have to be perfect but you need to present it in the best possible light you can don't send half finished products i was going to sweat it that don't really represent the song i don't want to hear a tune and think it needs another two weeks to be finished yes small changes can be made small tweaks and that's fine but i want to hear pretty much a finished product and just by giving it a quick master quick limit bringing it up to a standard kind of level it allows me to hear what it would sound like increasing your chances of getting it signed okay tip number six keep emails short sweet to the point and professional keep it professional when you send an email i want to know your name where you're from and maybe one or two lines maximum about the song or you i don't want any more than that i don't have time to read through five paragraphs of your life story i have 50 demos a day at least like i don't have time to dedicate to that if i want to know more i will research or i will ask you more after listening to the music the music needs to lead let the music do the talking and then it moves on to the professional side of things when you're writing an email make sure the spelling's correct make sure you've addressed the person properly make sure you put your name and contact details at the end and don't forget to add your social links at the bottom professionally make it look smart present it as you would if you're going to a job interview the better it looks in this one email the better it's gonna represent you and the more i'm going to be likely to sign it okay that about wraps it up for this week guys i hope these tips have helped you if you are committing these sins make sure that you rectify it on your next email mail out the next time you send a demo to a label and i guarantee that you are increasing your chances of getting not only your music listened to but attention of the a and r what i will say as a final thought is get your music critiqued before you even send it are you really ready to send music to that label because if you send it prematurely and your music isn't ready that could be the only chance you get if i receive music from someone and it is so far below standard completely not ready i'm probably not going to listen to music from that email again that's food for thought if you have found any of this information valuable and you've enjoyed the episode please don't forget to hit like drop comments below subscribe and ding that bell to never miss an episode thank you very much guys this has been rewire unplugged i'll see you on the next one listen guys these tips are real they're going to help you i promise you make sure you're ready and follow these steps you're going to get signed let's go you
